Orion’s Sleep System is a water-based heating and cooling cover for an existing mattress. It offers temperature controls, schedules and independently controlled sides, but available product information does not establish that it prevents night sweats or stops 3 a.m. wake-ups. A temperature-control system may help with ordinary overheating; recurring soaking night sweats can have causes it cannot diagnose or treat.
What Orion’s smart mattress cover is
The Orion Sleep System combines a thin cover placed over your mattress with a Control Tower that circulates water to heat or cool the bed. It is not a replacement mattress. Orion says users can control each side independently and set schedules through its app. The manufacturer also offers sleep insights, with Orion Intelligence described as optional. Orion’s product page and product details describe those marketed features; they are not evidence that the system prevents waking or improves sleep for every user.
An independent Sleep Foundation review describes the system’s water-based temperature-control mechanism and rapid cooling. The available material does not establish a published outcome study or an independent efficacy statistic showing that Orion reduces night sweats.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCan a cooling mattress cover stop night sweats or 3 a.m. wake-ups?
It may help if the problem is feeling too warm because of the room, bedding or sleep setup. Being uncomfortably hot is not the same as medical night sweats, and product features alone cannot show that a cover will prevent either symptom for a particular person.

The NHS guidance on night sweats describes them as episodes of sweating enough to soak sleepwear or bedding despite a cool sleeping environment. It advises contacting a GP if episodes happen regularly and wake or worry you, or if they occur alongside a high temperature, cough, diarrhoea or unexplained weight loss. Orion’s temperature control should not be treated as a diagnosis or treatment for an underlying cause.
Check these details before buying
- Mattress size and depth: Orion lists Queen, King and California King sizes. Its product pages differ on maximum mattress depth: one says 10–16 inches, while another says up to 18 inches. Check the current order page against your mattress measurements before ordering. Product page; product details.
- Bed frame and outlet: The official product information says the system works with slatted or platform frames and needs a nearby standard power outlet. Plan where the Control Tower will sit and how its connection will reach the bed.
- Care: Orion says the cover should be spot-cleaned, not machine-washed. Follow the current care instructions rather than treating it like ordinary washable bedding.
- Price and terms: When accessed, Orion’s page showed Queen at $2,395, King at $2,595 and California King at $2,695, alongside a displayed $200 saving, free shipping, a 30-night trial and a two-year limited warranty. These are time-sensitive listed terms, not guaranteed current offers; confirm the live price, trial conditions, warranty and return process before purchase. Orion product page.
- Optional insights: Temperature control is the system’s core function; Orion describes its Intelligence subscription as optional. Check current subscription details if you want tracking or insights, and do not assume those services are required for basic heating and cooling. Orion product details.
Who may find it useful
The system is most relevant to someone who wants adjustable heating or cooling on an existing compatible mattress, particularly when two people prefer different bed temperatures. Its controls and scheduled settings may suit people who want to manage temperature without replacing the mattress. The cost, need for a powered Control Tower and spot-clean-only cover are practical trade-offs to weigh against that flexibility.

- No More Night Sweats: This original Chilipad bed cooling system is designed to make your existing mattress cooler. Its mattress topper fits over your existing mattress and plugs into a Cube that sits under or beside your bed. The Cube circulates chilled or heated water through the topper while you sleep. Use the remote control to change your bed temperature. Fits over any mattress. Half sizes cover half of the bed. Includes 1 Chilipad and 1 Cube control unit.
- Water-Based System: Use water to regulate the surface temperature of your existing mattress by actively circulating water through silicone micro-tubes in the pad, providing a more comfortable sleeping environment!
- Bedroom Setup: The pad connector can be placed at either end of your mattress to accommodate multiple bed frame styles, power source locations, and control unit access. Elastic straps allow the mattress pad to fit any mattress height, and the ME or half size pads work on split adjustable beds. The Cube's sleek design easily fits under bed frames over 8 inches in height.
- Wide Temperature Range: Temperature ranges from 60-115°F (15.5-46°C) so you can set it to your ideal bed temperature. Not meant to replace conventional A/C. Peak operating performance can be affected by ambient temperature and humidity.
- Easy to Install & Clean: Installs in minutes and Chilipad mattress topper is 100% machine washable and dryable.
If your sleep problem is occasional overheating, lower-cost changes to the sleep environment—such as breathable sheets or a cooling pillow—may also be worth considering. They are comfort measures, not treatment for recurring soaking night sweats.

A first-person claim that Orion “banished” night sweats or stopped 3 a.m. wake-ups requires an actual, documented test; the available product and review materials cannot verify that experience. A useful account would specify the trial period, mattress and bedding setup, room conditions, temperature settings, baseline symptoms and what changed. Without those details, the defensible conclusion is narrower: Orion provides adjustable bed heating and cooling, but whether it changes an individual’s night sweats or waking remains unestablished.
