Start by confirming which “Orchestrator” you mean. The name belongs to multiple unrelated projects, and the available evidence does not identify your repository, outage, or root cause. If you mean Meta’s Orchestrator, its README describes a Rust framework for declarative Linux resource management that uses a reactor model. The same README says public builds outside Meta’s internal infrastructure are not yet supported, so do not assume a standard public Cargo build will work.
Confirm the repository before reading code
“Orchestrator” is not a unique project name. Meta’s project is for centralized Linux system-resource management; another Rust project, webstonehq/orchestrator, describes itself as a workflow orchestration tool. Agent Orchestrator is a separate project whose official documentation describes a Go daemon and desktop app. Their troubleshooting steps and code are not interchangeable.
This article follows Meta’s repository provisionally. Before using its guidance, match the project URL to the code deployed in your environment. Record the branch, tag, or commit actually running—not just the repository’s current default branch.

What Meta’s README establishes—and what it does not
Meta’s repository describes Orchestrator as “A framework for declarative, predictable, and centralized resource management written in Rust, using a reactor model.” In practical terms, its stated purpose is to let users define desired Linux resource states declaratively while the framework centralizes resource management.

The README says public builds outside Meta’s internal infrastructure are not yet supported. It describes standalone Cargo-based build support, public dependency management, and external documentation as future work. It points readers to the source code and unit tests for current documentation. That is a meaningful constraint: first establish what environment and revision can build the code, and how the relevant tests are run. Do not assume that cloning the public repository and invoking Cargo is a supported route.
The README does not identify internal module names, document an outage-specific diagnostic sequence, or explain any particular incident. No symptom, affected version, commit, or root cause is established here, so there is not enough evidence to prescribe a patch.

Build an incident record before tracing the Rust code
A useful source investigation begins with evidence from the affected deployment, not guesses about what the framework ought to do. Preserve the time window and sanitized logs or symptoms, then assemble the details needed to connect runtime behavior to the source revision.

- Revision: the deployed branch, tag, or commit, plus a known-good revision if one exists.
- Environment: the relevant Linux deployment context and the build or test environment available for that revision.
- Observed behavior: what resource or declared desired state was affected, what happened instead, and when it began.
- Evidence: sanitized logs and other observations covering the incident window, with sensitive data removed.
These details are prerequisites for a credible diagnosis; none is supplied for a specific outage in the available project material.

- Adjustable Depth: 23-40'' adjustable depth is used for servers and network equipment, ensuring enough space for AV equipment, components, and cabling, while allowing you to access ports and equipment from multiple sides.
- Strong Load Capacity: Ground-Mounted Load Capacity: 500 lbs, Wall-Mounted Load Capacity: 150 lbs. The av rack is made of carbon steel for better weldability performance and can help save space while meeting your need to place multiple devices.
- User-friendly Design: Ergonomic design makes the open frame av rack easier to use. The additional top panel is able to place other items with more available space. Roller design moves anywhere and anytime, is convenient, and is more energy-saving.
- Complete Accessories: We provide the accessories you need, including 2 x Pallets, 145 x M5*10 Cross Head Screws, 4 x Casters, 4 x M10*50 Expansion Screws,10 x M6*12 Cage Nuts, 1 x Grounding Wire, 1 x User Manual.
- Wide Application: The server rack wall mount maximizes the use of available space, suitable for retail venues, classrooms, offices, and other places where space is limited.
Trace the affected state through the confirmed revision
Once the deployed revision and failing resource are known, use the source and matching unit tests as the repository recommends. Follow the relevant policy and declared desired state through the reactor or event path, the action taken, and the resulting state transition. Keep the trace tied to code at the confirmed revision: the README establishes the broad reactor-model design, but not the names or behavior of particular internal modules.
- Locate the state or policy: identify where the affected resource’s desired state is represented or selected in the confirmed source tree.
- Follow the event path: trace how the relevant change or observation reaches the reactor and what action it triggers. Verify each link in the actual code rather than inferring an undocumented architecture.
- Inspect the state transition: determine what the code expects to change and what conditions could prevent that transition, using the deployment evidence to narrow the path.
- Read the matching unit tests: use tests near the relevant behavior to understand the intended inputs, outcomes, and edge cases. A test clarifies expected behavior; it does not by itself prove the production incident followed that path.
- Compare revisions only after identifying a candidate change: when a triggering change is established, compare the affected revision with a known-good one and assess whether the difference plausibly explains the observed behavior.
Separate source evidence from an outage fix
Source can show what a particular revision is written to do. Unit tests can show behavior expected in the tested cases. Neither alone demonstrates that a production outage was reproduced or that a proposed change resolves it in the deployed environment. Keep those conclusions distinct: state what the code and tests support, what the deployment logs show, and what has actually been reproduced.
