The OPPO Reno16 5G is the stronger fit for camera versatility, faster stated charging and published ingress-protection ratings. The Samsung Galaxy M47 5G has the larger display, expandable storage, NFC and a stated six-generation OS-upgrade and six-year security-update policy. There is no reliable current price difference to quote: OPPO publishes dated India prices, but Samsung’s inspected product pages do not show a usable price.

OPPO Reno16 vs Samsung Galaxy M47 5G: key specifications

The figures below are manufacturer-published specifications for the India-market models, not independent test results. Check the exact model and storage variant on any listing; do not mix regional Reno16 variants.

Which phone has the better display?

The Galaxy M47 has the larger advertised screen diagonal: 16.91cm measured as a full rectangle, or 16.45cm accounting for rounded corners, compared with 16.05cm on the Reno16. Both are AMOLED-family displays with refresh rates up to 120Hz. OPPO publishes a 460 PPI figure and brightness ratings of 600 nits typical and 1,800 nits HBM; Samsung’s inspected specifications do not provide matching pixel-density or brightness figures. Those specifications alone do not establish which screen looks better in use.

Which phone has the more capable camera setup?

On published camera specifications, the Reno16 offers more versatility. Its three 50MP rear cameras include a 116° ultrawide and a 3.5× optical telephoto, and it has a 50MP autofocus front camera. OPPO lists rear 4K recording at 60fps as well as 30fps and 4K HDR. The M47 has a 50MP, 5MP and 2MP rear array, OIS, up to 10× digital zoom, a 12MP front camera and listed UHD 4K recording up to 30fps.

Optical zoom and digital zoom are not equivalent: the Reno16’s 3.5× figure describes optical reach, while Samsung’s up-to-10× figure is digital zoom. These specifications indicate options and recording modes, not comparative image quality; no hands-on image test is established here. See the OPPO specifications and Samsung product page.

Performance, memory and storage: what differs?

OPPO names the Reno16’s processor as Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and offers 8GB or 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. Samsung lists an octa-core processor at 2.4GHz and 1.8GHz, 8GB RAM and a choice of 128GB or 256GB storage. Its page identifies Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 in a qualification to its LPDDR5X statement, saying memory performance with that processor can achieve up to LPDDR5 levels. The listed data does not provide a directly comparable performance benchmark.

The practical storage distinction is expansion: the M47 accepts microSD cards up to 2TB through its hybrid SIM slot. The India Reno16 specifications list no memory-card support, so its 256GB internal capacity is not expandable that way. With the Samsung hybrid slot, using a memory card affects the SIM-slot arrangement; verify the configuration you need before buying.

  • 158.2 x 74.5 x 8.4 mm or 8.6 mm, 194 g or 196 g (6.84 oz)

Battery capacity and charging

OPPO rates the Reno16 battery at 6,700mAh typical and 6,490mAh rated, with charging up to 80W SUPERVOOC. Samsung rates the M47 at 6,000mAh typical and 5,882mAh rated, with 45W fast charging; its charger is sold separately. These are manufacturer ratings, not battery-life or charging-time test results. Higher capacity or wattage by itself does not establish longer endurance or a particular time to charge.

Durability, connectivity and software support

Durability

OPPO claims IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K ratings for the Reno16. Samsung advertises Gorilla Glass Victus+, water and dust resistance, and 2.0m fall endurance for the M47, but the inspected Samsung material does not state an IP rating. Do not treat those descriptions as equivalent to a published IP certification.

Connectivity

The Reno16 lists Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, while the M47 lists Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 5.1. Samsung includes NFC; OPPO’s India specifications list no NFC or eSIM. The M47’s USB-C 2.0 port and lack of a 3.5mm jack (with USB-C earjack noted) are also specified by Samsung.

Software updates

Samsung says the Galaxy M47 5G will receive six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates from its first global launch date; its product page lists security support through 31 July 2032 and says policies are subject to change. This is Samsung’s stated policy, not an independent guarantee. OPPO’s inspected Reno16 materials identify ColorOS 16.0 but do not state a comparable support duration, so the two brands’ update periods cannot be compared from these materials.

What is the price difference in India?

A dependable current price gap cannot be calculated from the available official listings. OPPO India states ₹66,999 for the Reno16 8GB+256GB and ₹72,999 for the 12GB+256GB variant, with those prices stated correct as of 31 August 2026 and subject to change. Samsung’s official M47 pages do not expose a usable comparable price in the inspected results; one variant was marked “Not for sale.” Do not treat the dated OPPO figures as a live checkout price or infer a gap from an unavailable Samsung price.

To calculate the difference when shopping, compare live India prices for matching storage capacity and note the date and terms. Exclude or separately account for exchange bonuses, bank discounts, EMI offers and other conditional reductions; subtract the like-for-like cash prices only. OPPO’s dated price details are on its Reno16 India price and details page. Samsung’s official listings are for the 128GB and 256GB variants.

Which is better: OPPO Reno16 or Samsung M47?

  • Choose the Reno16 if you want the published 3.5× optical telephoto, a high-resolution ultrawide, a 50MP autofocus selfie camera, rear 4K/60fps recording, faster stated charging or published IP ratings.
  • Choose the Galaxy M47 if you prefer a larger screen, microSD expansion, NFC or Samsung’s stated long-term update policy.

Neither is an evidence-based price winner until a current Samsung price for the same storage configuration can be verified. The recommendation follows the published specifications, not hands-on testing. Official details: OPPO India Reno16 details and Samsung India Galaxy M47 features.
