To buy a virtual private server (VPS) with OpenLiteSpeed and WordPress, choose either a provider’s prebuilt OpenLiteSpeed WordPress image or a supported Linux VPS where you install the stack yourself. The image route can reduce setup work; the manual route offers more control but requires server administration. In either case, check the offered operating system, resources, backup and recovery options, and recurring costs before ordering. You will also need to connect your domain, and some deployments require you to finish WordPress and HTTPS setup.
Choose a deployment route
OpenLiteSpeed’s documentation describes two ways to get the web server and WordPress onto a VPS. The right choice depends on whether you want a provider-integrated image or prefer to manage installation on a general Linux server.
Use a prebuilt WordPress image
A cloud image bundles OpenLiteSpeed, WordPress, LiteSpeed Cache, and related dependencies. LiteSpeed documents images or deployment scripts for several cloud platforms; availability and deployment steps differ by provider. The image documentation also describes automated configuration such as object cache and PHP OPcache. Check the provider’s current image details and setup instructions, because bundled versions and interfaces can change. See LiteSpeed’s WordPress cloud-image guide and its cloud-image platform overview.
This path is generally the more straightforward option if the provider offers an image for your chosen region and server configuration. It does not mean your site is fully configured: you still need to review the image’s instructions, connect a domain, and complete any remaining WordPress or certificate setup.
#1 Best Overall
Install the stack on a Linux VPS
OpenLiteSpeed’s one-click script can install the components on a supported Linux system. Its -W option installs OpenLiteSpeed, LSPHP, MariaDB, WordPress, and LiteSpeed Cache; the documentation says to finish WordPress setup in a browser afterward. The --wordpressplus <site-domain> option is documented as installing, setting up, and configuring WordPress and enabling LiteSpeed Cache. The script also documents controls for PHP and MariaDB versions, database credentials, WordPress credentials, domain, automatic certificate setup, OWASP rules, and Fail2Ban. Review the current command options in the official one-click script documentation before running it.
Manual installation is a better fit when you are comfortable administering Linux and want to select or configure the server yourself. A VPS provider’s available operating systems may be narrower than the versions supported by the installer, so check both before purchase.
Check the operating system before ordering
OpenLiteSpeed’s installation documentation lists current non-end-of-life support for CentOS 8, 9, and 10; Debian 11, 12, and 13; and Ubuntu 22, 24, and 26. It also notes Red Hat Enterprise Linux and derivatives. These are installer support listings, not a guarantee that every provider offers each version or maintains a corresponding image. Confirm the exact operating system and image version shown in the VPS order flow, then verify that it remains supported in the installation guide.

The software does not determine whether a server has enough capacity or the operational features your site needs. Compare candidate VPS offerings against the workload you expect, using current provider specifications rather than assuming that an image implies a particular level of performance.
Rank #3
- Compute and memory: Compare vCPU and RAM allocations against your site’s expected traffic and workload.
- Storage and network: Check storage type and capacity, and any bandwidth, transfer, or network limits.
- Operations: Review backup and snapshot options, recovery steps, monitoring, support, and any control panel included.
- Location: Check which regions are available and choose one appropriate for your audience and operational needs.
- Total recurring cost: Account for the VPS charge and any separately billed storage, backups, bandwidth, licenses, or support.
- Deployment: Confirm that the provider offers the image you want, or that its general-purpose VPS has an operating system suitable for manual installation.
There is no established apples-to-apples provider price or independent performance comparison in the cited material, so it does not support ranking providers by cost or speed. Compare current plan pages and image details for the specific region and configuration you intend to buy.
Connect the domain and finish HTTPS setup
For a site to resolve to the VPS, its domain must point to the server’s IP address. OpenLiteSpeed’s configuration guidance describes forwarding the domain to the server, commonly with a DNS A record. DNS changes can take time to become visible, and the exact control-panel steps depend on your registrar or DNS provider. See the OpenLiteSpeed configuration guide.

After deployment, follow the image or installation instructions to map the domain to the virtual host and configure HTTPS. The cloud-image guide describes entering a domain and optionally obtaining a Let’s Encrypt certificate when the domain already points to the server. Whether certificate setup is automatic, and how to complete it, varies by deployment image and provider. Confirm the certificate is active for the site before treating the setup as complete.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsOpenLiteSpeed is free; Enterprise licensing is separate
OpenLiteSpeed is free to download, use, distribute, and modify under GPLv3. It does not require buying LiteSpeed Enterprise to run an OpenLiteSpeed VPS. Enterprise is a separate product with its own licensing terms; its domain and RAM restrictions should not be mistaken for requirements of the open-source server. LiteSpeed’s licensing material also says one Enterprise license cannot be installed on multiple servers. For the distinction, consult the OpenLiteSpeed support page, the LiteSpeed licensing information, and its licensing FAQ.
