Short answer: the OnePlus Pad Go 2 is most compelling when you want a large, productivity-oriented 7:5 screen, high refresh-rate scrolling, a large battery and a choice of Wi‑Fi or 5G. It is not automatically the best mid-range Android tablet for every buyer. A Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE-series model may be a better fit if IP68 protection, Samsung Notes and Galaxy-device integration matter more than the OnePlus display format. Compare the exact storage, connectivity and accessory bundles sold in your country before deciding.
What the OnePlus Pad Go 2 actually offers
The Pad Go 2 is a 12.1-inch Android tablet built around a 7:5 LCD. OnePlus lists a 2800 × 1980 resolution, 30Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz refresh options, 12-bit colour depth (8+4 bit) and 98% DCI-P3 coverage. The squarer 7:5 shape leaves more vertical space for documents, webpages and split-screen work than a typical widescreen panel, although widescreen video will show larger unused areas than it would on a 16:10 display.

Its listed platform is a MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra processor with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Storage is UFS 3.1 and comes in 128GB or 256GB capacities. Those are materially different configurations: compare the same storage size and connectivity type when checking prices, rather than treating every “Pad Go 2” listing as equivalent.

Choose by screen shape, size and refresh rate
When the 7:5 panel is an advantage
For reading, note-taking, email, spreadsheets and two apps side by side, the Pad Go 2’s 7:5 proportions are deliberately practical. The extra height reduces vertical scrolling in documents and gives each split-screen pane more usable content. OnePlus also documents Open Canvas, which supports up to three on-screen app windows. That can suit a reference document, browser and notes workflow better than a narrower tablet.

When a more video-oriented panel may suit you
Most television and streaming content is wider than 7:5. On the Pad Go 2, that means more letterboxing than on a tablet with a 16:10-style shape. This is not a quality defect; it is a trade-off. Decide whether your dominant activity is reading and multitasking or watching widescreen video before giving screen shape more weight than resolution.
How to compare alternatives
Record four values for every candidate: diagonal size, aspect ratio, resolution and refresh-rate range. Do not compare “120Hz” in one listing with “90Hz” in another without checking whether the figure is a maximum, a fixed mode or limited to particular applications. For the Galaxy Tab S10 FE series, Samsung’s US launch announcement specifies refresh rates up to 90Hz and up to 800 nits high-brightness mode (HBM). The announcement covers both Tab S10 FE and the larger Tab S10 FE+; they are different display sizes, so identify the exact model.
| Display question | Pad Go 2 | Galaxy Tab S10 FE series information in the cited US launch announcement |
|---|---|---|
| Shape and size | 12.1-inch, 7:5 | FE and FE+ have different display sizes; exact figures are not stated in the cited announcement |
| Resolution | 2800 × 1980 | Not stated in the cited announcement |
| Maximum refresh | 120Hz | Up to 90Hz |
| High-brightness figure | Not stated in the cited OnePlus specification | Up to 800 nits HBM |
Performance and memory: compare workloads, not just chip names
Eight gigabytes of LPDDR5X and UFS 3.1 storage give the Pad Go 2 a clear specification baseline for app switching and file loading. The Dimensity 7300-Ultra is the listed core platform, but a specification sheet cannot tell you how a particular game, video editor or drawing application behaves. Check reviews that identify their workload and test method, and avoid treating an unshared benchmark as a direct ranking.

In Tom’s Guide’s review, the reviewer found general multitasking smooth but observed frame-rate drops while playing Genshin Impact. Those are workload- and test-specific observations, not proof that the Pad Go 2 is faster or slower than every competing tablet. No controlled Pad Go 2-versus-Samsung head-to-head test is established here.
Match memory and storage before judging value
- Compare 128GB with 128GB and 256GB with 256GB; a cheaper 128GB listing is not an apples-to-apples alternative to a 256GB bundle.
- Check whether the advertised RAM is physical memory or includes a software memory-expansion feature; the Pad Go 2’s documented hardware figure is 8GB LPDDR5X.
- For large games, downloaded video and creative projects, calculate usable free space rather than relying on the nominal capacity.
- For office, browsing and streaming, prioritize screen ergonomics and software features if both tablets meet your app requirements.
Battery capacity, measured runtime and charging time are separate
OnePlus lists a 10,050mAh typical battery and a 9,800mAh rated battery. Typical and rated figures describe the battery specification under different conventions; neither predicts your exact screen-on time. Brightness, refresh rate, cellular use, games and background synchronization can change endurance substantially.
Tom’s Guide recorded 16 hours 39 minutes for the Pad Go 2 in its continuous Wi‑Fi web-surfing test with brightness set to 150 nits. That is an outlet result under stated conditions, not a universal runtime. The same review says its unit took a little over two hours to charge from empty despite the advertised 33W charging. Charger temperature, adapter compatibility and starting conditions can affect real charging time.
Verify the charger in the box
OnePlus says the Pad Go 2 needs a compatible 33W-or-higher SUPERVOOC adapter to achieve 33W charging and cautions that adapter availability and specifications vary by region. If a local package omits that adapter, include the cost of a compatible charger when comparing total ownership cost. Do not assume any USB-C charger will deliver the tablet’s maximum rate.
Wi‑Fi or 5G: decide from your daily locations
Wi‑Fi model
The Wi‑Fi version is appropriate when the tablet normally stays at home, school or an office with reliable wireless access. It avoids a cellular plan and is listed at 597g. Confirm that the local model supports the Wi‑Fi standard and storage combination you are buying; OnePlus lists Wi‑Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4.
5G model
The 5G version accepts a SIM and weighs 599g according to OnePlus’s UK specifications. It can be useful for commuting, field work or travel where hotspotting is inconvenient. The tablet, however, is only one part of the decision: verify carrier support, local 5G bands, SIM requirements and recurring data cost. OnePlus documents a 5G-enabled variant, but the exact configuration sold in a particular country must be checked locally.
| Question | What to verify before purchase |
|---|---|
| Do I need mobile data? | List the places you will use the tablet without dependable Wi‑Fi; if they are rare, compare the Wi‑Fi model and phone hotspot cost. |
| Is the 5G SKU sold locally? | Check the manufacturer’s regional page and the retailer’s exact model number. |
| Will my carrier work? | Confirm supported bands, SIM type and tablet-plan eligibility with the carrier. |
| What is the weight difference? | OnePlus lists 597g Wi‑Fi and 599g 5G, a 2g difference. |
Durability and outdoor use can change the recommendation
Samsung’s April 2, 2025 US announcement for the Galaxy Tab S10 FE and S10 FE+ specifies IP68 water and dust protection, up to 800 nits HBM and up to 90Hz refresh. It also positions Samsung Notes and connected Galaxy features as part of the series. Those are meaningful advantages for school bags, kitchens, workshops or shared family use where water and dust exposure are plausible.
The cited OnePlus specifications do not establish an equivalent IP rating for the Pad Go 2. Do not infer water resistance from a sealed-looking chassis, and do not treat Samsung’s IP68 announcement as applying to every Samsung tablet or every regional SKU. Confirm the exact FE or FE+ model and local warranty terms.
Pen, keyboard and multitasking: price the complete setup
Pad Go 2 accessories
OnePlus documents Open Canvas for up to three app windows and identifies the Pad Go 2 Stylo as a compatible pen. The Stylo is sold separately. The company also notes that accessory availability and feature support can vary by region. If handwriting, sketching or markup is central to your purchase, add the Stylo’s local price and check whether the apps you use support pressure and palm rejection as expected.
For a keyboard workflow, verify whether a keyboard is an official model for the exact Pad Go 2 generation, whether it is bundled, and how it connects. A generic Bluetooth keyboard may work for typing but will not necessarily provide tablet-specific shortcuts, a protective cover or a stable viewing angle.
Samsung productivity ecosystem
The cited Samsung announcement highlights Samsung Notes features and connected Galaxy ecosystem positioning. That can matter if you already use a Galaxy phone or other Galaxy devices and want a familiar notes and handoff workflow. The announcement does not establish a universal accessory bundle or long-term software-policy comparison, so inspect the local FE or FE+ package rather than assuming every region includes the same pen or keyboard.
| Accessory or workflow | Pad Go 2 evidence | Galaxy Tab S10 FE-series evidence in cited announcement |
|---|---|---|
| Pen | Pad Go 2 Stylo supported; sold separately | Specific included accessory is not stated in the cited announcement |
| Multi-window | Open Canvas supports up to three on-screen app windows | Samsung Notes and connected ecosystem features are described; equivalent window count is not stated |
| Keyboard | Bundle and exact model are region-dependent; verify locally | Bundle details are not stated in the cited announcement |
| Protection | No equivalent IP rating established in the cited OnePlus specifications | IP68 specified for the S10 FE series |
Software and ecosystem: evaluate what you will actually use
The Pad Go 2’s listed software is OxygenOS 16. Open Canvas is the documented multitasking feature relevant to a large display. Think through your phone, cloud storage, password manager, messaging apps and notes service: the best tablet is the one that keeps those workflows simple, not the one with the longest feature list.

Samsung’s announcement emphasizes Galaxy connectivity and Samsung Notes. If your phone and earbuds are already in that ecosystem, setup and continuity may outweigh a difference in refresh rate. If you prefer a less brand-dependent Android setup, compare the apps and services you already pay for rather than assuming that a vendor feature will replace them.
No long-term update-policy comparison is established by the cited material. Ask the seller or manufacturer for the current support commitment for the exact regional model before making software longevity a deciding factor.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Cameras, audio and video calls: keep expectations realistic
OnePlus lists 8MP front and rear cameras. That is adequate for document scans, occasional photos and video calls in good light, but megapixels alone do not establish image quality. Check camera reviews if low-light photography or advanced video capture is a primary use; the cited material does not provide a controlled camera comparison with other mid-range tablets.
For calls, test the front-camera framing from your usual desk distance and confirm microphone placement. A tablet used mostly in landscape with a keyboard cover can frame differently from one held vertically for reading. These practical details often matter more than a small rear-camera specification difference.

Current retail prices, stock and promotion terms are not established here and can change by country and date. On publication day, collect offers for the same storage, the same Wi‑Fi or 5G connectivity and the same included accessories. Record whether the price is a one-time sale, a recurring cellular-plan cost, or a bundle that excludes the pen or charger.
- Write down the exact model name and storage capacity from the retailer, not just the family name.
- Mark Wi‑Fi and 5G separately; do not compare a cellular premium against a Wi‑Fi-only competitor without stating the difference.
- Add the Pad Go 2 Stylo or keyboard cost if your use case requires them.
- Check whether a compatible 33W-or-higher SUPERVOOC adapter is included; add one if it is not.
- Include delivery, taxes, cellular activation and any required data plan in the first-year total.
- Compare warranty coverage, return period and regional software support for the exact SKU.

Use-case decisions
For reading, research and split-screen study
Start with the Pad Go 2’s 7:5 12.1-inch layout and Open Canvas. The shape and three-window capability are directly relevant to PDFs, browser tabs and notes. Compare brightness, pen cost and the exact software you need; do not choose on refresh rate alone.
For frequent widescreen video
Compare aspect ratio first. A wider alternative can present 16:9 material with less letterboxing, while the Pad Go 2 offers a larger, squarer work area. Decide which compromise you will notice every day.
For demanding games
Use workload-specific reviews. Tom’s Guide observed smooth general multitasking but frame-rate drops in Genshin Impact on its unit. Treat that as evidence about that test session, not a universal ranking. Check sustained performance, thermal behaviour and controller compatibility for the games you actually play.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For travel and outdoor work
Compare 5G availability, weight, brightness and durability. The Pad Go 2 has a documented 5G option and weighs 599g in that version. Samsung’s FE announcement specifies IP68 and up to 800 nits HBM. Confirm local models and do not assume the same protection or brightness figures apply across a product family.
For a Galaxy-device household
Give Samsung Notes and connected Galaxy features practical weight if they replace services you already use. The FE and FE+ are different sizes, so select the model that fits your bag and desk rather than buying by series name.
A practical comparison checklist
- Display: size, aspect ratio, resolution, maximum and adaptive refresh behaviour.
- Performance: processor, physical RAM, storage type and the games or creative apps you use.
- Battery: typical and rated capacity, independent runtime test conditions and charging time.
- Connectivity: Wi‑Fi standard, Bluetooth version, 5G bands, SIM type and plan cost.
- Durability: documented IP rating, case availability and warranty.
- Accessories: pen, keyboard, charger, included items and total prices.
- Software: current OS version, notes and multitasking features, phone integration and stated support policy.
- Ergonomics: weight, thickness, camera placement and landscape video-call framing.
- Price: same region, storage, connectivity and bundle contents on the same date.
What the independent evidence does—and does not—prove
Tom’s Guide’s 16-hour-39-minute result comes from continuous Wi‑Fi web surfing at 150 nits, and its “a little over two hours” charging observation came from empty to full in that review. TechRadar also includes the Pad Go 2 in its 2026 tablet guide and reports a Future Labs battery test. Because the outlets use different procedures, do not average or directly equate their figures. Use each result only with its stated methodology.
The available evidence supports a conditional decision, not a universal mid-range ranking. OnePlus supplies detailed Pad Go 2 specifications; Samsung supplies launch specifications for the US FE series; neither source establishes a controlled, same-day comparison across every mid-range Android tablet or every regional configuration.

Which tablet should you buy?
Choose the OnePlus Pad Go 2 when its 7:5 12.1-inch workspace, up-to-120Hz modes, 8GB/128GB-or-256GB configurations, large battery and optional 5G directly match your routine—and when the local price remains competitive after adding the Stylo, keyboard and charger you need.
Choose a Galaxy Tab S10 FE-series model when IP68 protection, Samsung Notes, Galaxy-device continuity, up to 800 nits HBM or a specific FE/FE+ size better fits your environment. Confirm the exact US-versus-other-region configuration, included accessories and price before ordering. For every other candidate, apply the same checklist and require manufacturer specifications plus clearly attributed, condition-specific testing before declaring it better.
