The POCO X8 Pro is the more compact phone with faster stated wired charging; the OnePlus Nord 5 offers a larger, higher-refresh-rate display, a higher-resolution selfie camera and slightly greater stated battery capacity. Neither is a clear all-round winner on specifications alone. For India, a 91mobiles comparison published in March 2026 put their base prices just ₹1,000 apart, but those are dated prices, not current quotes.

Which phone has the better display?

The Nord 5 is the choice on paper if you want a larger screen or the higher stated refresh rate: 6.8 inches and up to 144 Hz in the 91mobiles comparison. The POCO’s official global page lists a 6.59-inch display at 2756 × 1268 pixels and up to 120 Hz, making it the smaller option. These specifications do not establish which screen looks better in brightness, color, or outdoor use.

Performance: what the chipset comparison can—and cannot—tell you

The listed processors are Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 in the Nord 5 and MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 Ultra in the POCO X8 Pro. They differ in vendor and generation, but chipset names or peak clock speeds alone do not show which phone performs better in games, sustained workloads, or everyday use. The cited comparison is specification-led, not a controlled side-by-side performance test.

Battery capacity and charging speed

The Nord 5 has the larger stated battery at 6,800 mAh, compared with 6,500 mAh for the POCO X8 Pro. The POCO has the higher stated wired charging rate—100 W versus 80 W. These nominal figures do not establish actual battery life or the time needed to charge: usage, charger and test conditions matter.

Camera specifications

Both phones are listed with a 50 MP main rear camera and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera. The Nord 5’s listed 50 MP front camera has higher resolution than the POCO’s 20 MP front camera, which is confirmed on POCO’s official global page. Resolution by itself does not determine photo quality; sensor characteristics and image processing also matter, and the cited sources do not provide comparative photo samples.

Software and update support

In 91mobiles’ March 2026 comparison, the POCO X8 Pro is described as running Android 16-based HyperOS 3, while the Nord 5 is described as running Android 15-based OxygenOS 15. The same article reports four major OS upgrades and six years of security updates for each. Treat these as the dated comparison’s regional software and support descriptions, not a guarantee that every market or current retail unit has the same version or policy; check the manufacturer’s current regional terms before buying.

India prices and the price difference

91mobiles’ article, published on 18 March 2026 and updated on 19 March 2026, reported ₹32,999 for the POCO X8 Pro 8 GB/256 GB and ₹31,999 for the Nord 5 base model—a ₹1,000 difference between those cited configurations. It also listed the POCO 12 GB/256 GB at ₹35,999 and an Iron Man edition at ₹37,999, and the Nord 5’s higher-RAM option at ₹34,999. These are dated India prices, not live or guaranteed offers. The comparison listing shows that pricing and stock can vary.

Before treating one as cheaper, compare the exact RAM and storage variant available in India and check the seller’s current price, stock, bank discounts and exchange conditions. A discount tied to a card or trade-in is not equivalent to the standard price.

Which one should you buy?

Choose the POCO X8 Pro if

  • You prefer its smaller listed display.
  • You value the higher stated wired charging rate.
  • You want the newer Android generation reported at launch or the listed UFS 4.1 storage.
  • Its exact memory variant costs less in your market when you are ready to buy.

Choose the OnePlus Nord 5 if

  • You want the larger display and higher stated refresh rate.
  • You prioritize a higher-resolution selfie-camera specification.
  • You prefer its slightly higher stated battery capacity.
  • The software experience and current price for your preferred configuration suit you better.

For buyers focused on chipset performance, camera output or battery endurance, these specifications do not settle the choice. Look for comparable real-world tests of the exact regional models rather than inferring a winner from component names or megapixel counts.
