Short answer: The OnePlus N6 has an 8,000mAh typical battery (7,780mAh rated). OnePlus says it can provide up to three days, but that figure comes from the company’s 2026 Test Lab under defined conditions. In independent 91mobiles testing, the phone lasted 19 hours 17 minutes in PCMark and delivered close to two days for ordinary mixed use. Heavy video and gaming still use a substantial share of the battery, while standby drain is unusually low.
Charging uses 45W SuperVOOC. In the same review, charging from 20% to 100% took about 90 minutes. That is practical for overnight charging, but it is not especially rapid for a battery this large.
What the OnePlus N6 battery figures actually mean
Battery capacity is the amount of energy the cell can store; it is not a timetable for how many hours the phone will run. The N6’s headline capacity is 8,000mAh typical, while its rated capacity is 7,780mAh. Typical capacity is the figure used for the product claim, whereas rated capacity is the minimum or declared capacity used for specification and compliance purposes. Both describe the same battery, not two batteries that can be added together.

A large battery gives the N6 more reserve, but it cannot make a demanding workload low-power.

Can the OnePlus N6 really last three days?
OnePlus states: “8000mAh for 3 days of power with 45W SuperVOOC Fast Charge.” The statement is attributed to the OnePlus N6 product information and the company’s 2026 Test Lab. OnePlus also says actual results vary with environmental factors, network conditions, enabled features, applications, calls and messages, recharge count, usage habits, device age, and settings.
That qualification matters. “Up to three days” is best understood as a light-use or laboratory-defined ceiling. It is not a promise that every N6 owner can use cellular data, stream video, play games, and make calls for 72 hours without recharging. A person who mostly reads, messages, takes occasional calls, and leaves the phone idle can approach the high end of the claim more easily than someone gaming or recording video continuously.
The independent result gives a more useful baseline for planning. 91mobiles recorded 19 hours 17 minutes in PCMark, then described close to two days as realistic for regular mixed use. That puts the practical expectation below the most optimistic interpretation of the three-day wording, while still making the N6 a long-endurance phone.

Standardized battery testing
PCMark is a repeatable workload rather than a prediction of one person’s exact day. The N6’s 19-hour-17-minute result indicates strong endurance under that test’s mixture of common tasks. It is useful for comparing phones tested under the same procedure, but it should not be converted directly into 19 hours of screen-on time for browsing or gaming.
Ordinary mixed use
After a week with the phone, 91mobiles found that close to two days was realistic for most regular users. “Regular use” can include messaging, calls, browsing, social apps, occasional camera use, and periods of video, with the phone spending substantial time idle. Your result will move up or down depending on signal strength, brightness, refresh behavior, app activity, and how much time is spent on high-load tasks.

Video and gaming drain
Large capacity does not eliminate heavy-use drain. In the review’s mixed sample, one hour of YouTube followed by one hour of gaming consumed about 20% of the battery. That is a useful warning for anyone asking whether 8,000mAh makes the N6 effectively unlimited for entertainment: it provides substantial reserve, but sustained bright-screen video and processor-intensive games still use a meaningful portion of it.
The 20% observation is a workload example, not a fixed hourly rate. A 3D game, weak cellular signal, high brightness, or a warmer environment can consume energy faster; a less demanding game on Wi-Fi with a dimmer display can consume less.
Overnight standby
Standby is one of the N6’s strongest results. 91mobiles measured only 2–3% loss overnight. That means the phone can sit unused for a night without sacrificing a large part of the next day’s reserve. Standby performance is especially valuable for travel, emergency availability, and people who use their phone in short bursts rather than continuously.
How long should you expect in common situations?
| Use pattern | Evidence-based expectation | Why it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Light use with substantial idle time | Can move toward the “up to three days” ceiling in OnePlus’s lab claim | Low screen and processor activity leaves more of the 8,000mAh reserve unused |
| Typical mixed use | Close to two days, according to 91mobiles’ week-long review | Messaging, browsing, calls, media, and idle periods balance one another |
| PCMark-style workload | 19 hours 17 minutes in 91mobiles’ test | A controlled repeatable workload is not identical to a personal daily routine |
| One hour of YouTube plus one hour of gaming | About 20% consumed in the review’s mixed sample | Bright-screen playback and gaming raise display and processor demand |
| Overnight idle | About 2–3% loss | The phone’s low standby drain preserves reserve between active sessions |
These are reference points, not guarantees. Two people can use the same apps for the same amount of time and see different results because their networks, brightness levels, temperatures, notifications, and background synchronization differ.
Is 8,000mAh enough for YouTube and gaming?
Yes, it gives the N6 a larger margin than a typical phone battery, but “enough” depends on how much continuous play you expect. The review’s combined two-hour YouTube-and-gaming sample used about one-fifth of the charge. That leaves considerable capacity for other tasks, yet several long gaming sessions can still bring the phone to a recharge point in a single day.

YouTube playback is generally less demanding than a graphically intensive game, but video keeps the display active and often uses speakers, wireless networking, and hardware decoding. Games can add sustained processor and graphics load, higher heat, and a faster display refresh. If the cellular signal is poor, the modem may also work harder while you stream or play online.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor the longest sessions, use a reliable Wi-Fi connection when possible, reduce brightness to a comfortable level, close background workloads you do not need, and avoid leaving location, hotspot, or other radios active without a purpose. These steps reduce consumption; they do not change the battery’s rated capacity.
How fast does the OnePlus N6 charge?
45W SuperVOOC in testing
The N6 supports 45W SuperVOOC. 91mobiles measured approximately 90 minutes from 20% to 100%. For a battery rated at 7,780mAh, that is adequate for charging while you sleep or during a long break, but it is not among the quickest refill times for a battery of this size.
Charging speed is not constant from empty to full. The phone can accept more power when the battery is low, then reduce power as it approaches 100% to manage heat and battery stress. Consequently, a short top-up and a complete 20-to-100% session should not be compared as if they used the same rate.
What a five-minute top-up provides
OnePlus’s Test Lab says a five-minute charge can provide 1.7 hours of YouTube. That is a laboratory figure for the stated use case, not a universal number for gaming, calls, navigation, or mobile data. It is most useful as an indication that a brief connection to a charger can restore meaningful video-playback time.

Charging habits that make sense
- Use a compatible 45W SuperVOOC charger and suitable USB-C cable if you want the phone to reach its designed charging behavior.
- For an overnight charge, the roughly 90-minute 20-to-100% result leaves ample time for a normal sleep period.
- Expect charging to slow near full; that is normal and helps control heat.
- Heavy gaming while charging can add heat and may reduce the practical benefit of the fastest charging phase.
Battery health and the seven-year claim
OnePlus says the N6 battery is designed for 1,600 complete charge cycles and more than 80% battery health after seven years. This is a forward-looking OnePlus Test Lab claim from 2026. It is not an observed seven-year result: the phone has not been in use for seven years, and 91mobiles explicitly notes that time is needed to verify the promise.
A complete cycle means using an amount of energy equivalent to 100% of the battery’s capacity, even if that happens across several partial charges. For example, two separate 50% discharges add up to approximately one complete cycle. Actual aging also depends on heat, charging patterns, workload, and storage conditions, so the laboratory target should be treated as an engineering objective rather than a personal guarantee.
Why your result may be shorter than the review
- Weak signal: The modem can draw more power while maintaining a difficult cellular connection.
- High brightness or refresh activity: Keeping the display bright and active raises consumption during every minute of screen use.
- Demanding applications: Games, camera recording, navigation, and intensive background processing load the processor and graphics hardware.
- Background synchronization: Frequent notifications, cloud updates, and location checks consume energy even when you are not actively using the phone.
- Temperature: Heat can increase losses and may cause the phone to limit charging or performance.
- Device age: Capacity gradually declines as the battery accumulates cycles, which is why OnePlus presents its seven-year figure as a health target rather than a promise of unchanged runtime.
If the N6 suddenly loses far more charge than usual, check which apps have been active, whether the phone is warm, and whether it is spending time in a poor-signal area. Comparing one day with another is less informative than looking for a repeated pattern under similar conditions.
How to get the longest runtime from the N6
- Start with a comfortable but not excessive display brightness, especially during long video or gaming sessions.
- Use Wi-Fi where it is reliable for streaming and downloads, and avoid leaving hotspot or unnecessary wireless features enabled.
- Limit background activity for apps that do not need immediate notifications.
- Keep demanding games and camera sessions short when you need the phone to last through a long day.
- Install system and application updates when they are available, since power-management bugs can affect drain.
- Keep the phone out of excessive heat, particularly while fast-charging or gaming.
- Use the phone’s battery-usage information to identify an app that consumes an unusual share of power, then update, restrict, or remove it if appropriate.
Bottom line: what the N6’s battery means for you
The OnePlus N6’s 8,000mAh typical (7,780mAh rated) battery is genuinely large. Independent testing supports close to two days for ordinary mixed use, a 19-hour-17-minute PCMark result, and only 2–3% overnight standby loss. Those figures make the N6 well suited to users who want to spend less time near an outlet.
The “up to three days” statement is a best-case laboratory ceiling with explicit variables, not a universal 72-hour promise. YouTube and gaming can consume about 20% during a two-hour mixed sample, so intensive use still requires realistic planning. With 45W SuperVOOC, a 20-to-100% charge takes about 90 minutes in testing: dependable for overnight charging, though modest for such a high-capacity battery.
