Short answer: OnePlus says existing phones in North America and Europe will continue receiving software updates, security patches, and applicable after-sales support, and that valid warranties will still be honored under their product terms. However, the company has not published a complete model-by-model update timetable, a guaranteed Android or OxygenOS upgrade count, or a universal security-support end date. The safest purchase decision depends on your exact model, region, seller, camera and performance needs, and the repair coverage available where you live.

OnePlus has also announced that it is concluding product rollouts in Europe and North America. That changes how you should evaluate availability and long-term ownership, but it does not mean existing devices stop working or immediately lose support.

Will my current OnePlus device continue to be supported?

According to OnePlus’s North America user FAQ, “Existing OnePlus devices will continue to receive software updates, security patches, and applicable support.” The company also says customer-service channels remain open and that after-sales obligations continue under the applicable product terms.

This is a continuation policy, not a promise that every phone will receive the same number of major Android or OxygenOS upgrades. The notice does not publish one support duration that applies to all models, nor does it provide a complete security-patch end date. Support can vary by model, country, carrier, and software branch, so check the current official upgrade information for the exact device before relying on a particular duration.

OnePlus’s notice is especially important for owners who bought a phone before the rollout decision. It says the end of new product rollouts in North America and Europe does not cancel ongoing maintenance for existing hardware. It also says applicable warranties continue to be honored according to the terms attached to the product.

How long will OnePlus phones get updates?

There is no single, officially stated answer for the entire OnePlus range. The current notice does not give a model-by-model schedule, a guaranteed number of Android upgrades, or a final security-support date. Treat any exact duration found on an old retailer listing, comparison article, or forum post as unverified until it matches the current information for your model and region.

What the ColorOS 17 notice means

OnePlus says eligible devices may choose whether to move to ColorOS 17 after its official release. The announcement does not name a complete list of eligible models or provide a full migration timetable. Older models outside that upgrade scope are expected to continue receiving software maintenance, while rollback versions will depend on later official announcements.

That wording leaves two practical questions unresolved: whether your particular phone is eligible and exactly when an update will arrive. Do not assume that a phone shown on a legacy product page will receive ColorOS 17, and do not assume that declining a migration produces the same software path indefinitely. Confirm the model number, sales region, and current announcement before installing or declining a major change.

What about future OnePlus phones?

The notice does not establish a complete policy for every future device or guarantee that all future products will use one operating system. Future availability and software plans should be treated as volatile while product rollouts in North America and Europe are being concluded.

Can I still access OnePlus repair services?

OnePlus says applicable after-sales and repair support remains available. Its US support page states that, as of September 2026, repairs are transitioning to a service center in Union City, California. The same page reports a case-tracking-system issue on the crawled support page. Both details are operational and may change, so use the current support channel for instructions on your specific case rather than treating the transition as a permanent service guarantee.

Prepare before contacting support

  1. Identify the exact model and sales region. A device bought outside the United States may be governed by different service and warranty rules.
  2. Gather the original proof of purchase, the phone’s model and serial number, and clear photographs of any defect or damage.
  3. Open the current OnePlus support page and follow the repair route shown for your model. Ask where the device must be shipped or delivered and whether data backup or account removal is required.
  4. Keep the case number, shipping receipt, and copies of all photographs. If the online tracker is unavailable, request the current alternative tracking method from support.

Repair eligibility is not the same as warranty eligibility. A service center may offer paid work when a defect is outside the limited warranty, when the seller is not covered by OnePlus’s terms, or when damage falls under an exclusion.

Will my OnePlus warranty still be honored?

For covered purchases made through OnePlus.com in the United States, OnePlus’s terms describe a limited warranty lasting 12 months from delivery. It covers qualifying defects in materials or workmanship, except where different terms or applicable law apply.

Important limits on the standard US warranty

  • Coverage is tied to the original purchaser and the original country or region of purchase.
  • Retailer purchases, imported devices, and phones bought in another country can have different applicable terms.
  • The warranty has exclusions; accidental damage, misuse, and other circumstances may fall outside coverage.
  • OnePlus requires original proof of purchase, the model and serial number, and photo evidence of the defect when processing a claim.

The end of North American product rollouts does not, by itself, erase a valid warranty. OnePlus’s FAQ says applicable warranty coverage will continue to be honored according to the product-warranty terms. You still need to meet those terms, and local consumer law may provide additional rights.

Are protection plans included?

No. OnePlus lists optional plans that can include an extended warranty, screen protection, accidental-damage protection, and OnePlus Care for some models. Eligibility and price depend on the device and plan. The US protection page says these plans must be purchased with a device at OnePlus.com checkout and are limited to devices bought there. They are not part of the standard 12-month limited warranty, and current eligibility should be checked at checkout.

Should I choose the OnePlus 13 or OnePlus 13R?

OnePlus’s North American release dated January 7, 2025 identifies the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R as its flagship pair at that time. OnePlus positioned the 13R as a lower-priced way to obtain flagship-level performance. That is the manufacturer’s positioning, not an independent comparative test, and current availability or pricing may have changed.

OnePlus 13R Member of the same flagship series announced January 7, 2025 More affordable flagship-performance option

The available official material does not provide a sufficiently current, complete cross-model specification and price table to rank the two phones on every dimension. Use the following decision points instead of treating the launch description as a universal value verdict.

Choose based on performance

The US OnePlus 13R listing names Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. That is a specific 13R specification, not evidence that every model in the range uses the same processor. If you need sustained gaming or demanding local processing, compare the exact processor, memory configuration, thermal design, and current software version for the configuration you can actually buy.

Choose based on cameras

Camera hardware and processing are configuration-specific. Decide whether you prioritize long-range zoom, low-light photography, video tools, or a smaller and lighter phone, then verify the current camera specification for the exact model. Do not infer camera parity from the shared “flagship” label.

Choose based on battery and charging

The US OnePlus 13R page lists a 6,000 mAh typical-capacity battery and 55W SUPERVOOC charging. It also says the phone can charge at up to 80W with specified OnePlus adapters. These figures apply to the 13R listing and should not be generalized to other OnePlus models. Adapter compatibility, regional electrical standards, and what is included in the box should be confirmed before purchase.

Choose based on physical protection

The 13R product page specifically states that liquid-immersion damage is not covered by warranty. Water resistance, accidental-damage coverage, and warranty exclusions are separate questions, so read the model’s terms rather than assuming that a flagship designation guarantees coverage.

Choose based on software and service region

For either model, verify update eligibility for your sales region, the seller’s return policy, and the repair route available near you. A phone imported from another market can have different firmware, network-band support, warranty coverage, and repair handling even when its model name looks identical.

How should I check availability before buying?

Product pages and comparison pages can remain online after a rollout changes. OnePlus’s official comparison page lists the OnePlus 13, 13R, 12, 12R, Open, and earlier models, but the available crawl is about 1.6 years old. Use it as evidence of historically listed model families, not as a current inventory list.

  1. Check the current official product page and record the country or region shown.
  2. Confirm that the exact storage, color, and carrier version is in stock and that the listed seller is authorized for your market.
  3. Review the warranty terms attached to that seller and country. Do not apply US OnePlus.com terms automatically to a retailer or import purchase.
  4. Check the current support page for repair intake instructions and any service-center changes.
  5. Save the product page, order confirmation, and warranty terms. Availability, prices, and service arrangements can change after purchase.

A legacy comparison listing is not proof that a phone is newly available, and a launch price is not a current price. Make the decision using information tied to the exact transaction you are about to make.

What should existing owners do now?

  • Install official software updates offered for your exact model and region, while keeping a current backup.
  • Record your model number, serial number, purchase date, and proof of purchase before a repair is needed.
  • Use the current OnePlus support channel for update eligibility, repair routing, and case tracking rather than relying on an old bookmark.
  • If a ColorOS 17 choice appears, read the device-specific release notes and backup instructions before deciding whether to migrate.
  • For a warranty claim, document the defect with photographs and provide the requested purchase and identification details.

The practical takeaway is cautious continuity: existing devices are not being abandoned, but support duration, repair logistics, and new-product availability must be checked at the model-and-region level.
