Choose the OnePlus Buds 4 if you use Android, especially a OnePlus phone. They offer the stronger published battery rating, LHDC 5.0, IP55 protection, multipoint connection, and OnePlus-only gaming and translation features. Choose AirPods Pro 2 if you use an iPhone alongside other Apple devices. Their H2-based features, Adaptive Transparency, Personalized Spatial Audio, hearing tools, and Apple-device integration are difficult to match outside Apple’s ecosystem.
AirPods Pro 2 can connect to Android as ordinary Bluetooth headphones, but Apple says functionality is limited. The Buds 4 can provide standard Bluetooth audio on iPhone through supported codecs, but features tied to OnePlus phones do not carry over. The best choice therefore depends more on your phone ecosystem than on a simple winner in sound or noise cancellation.
Quick verdict
| Priority | Better choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Android phone, especially OnePlus | OnePlus Buds 4 | LHDC 5.0, longer rated battery life, IP55, dual-device connection, Google Fast Pair, and OnePlus-specific low-latency and translation features. |
| iPhone with other Apple devices | AirPods Pro 2 | H2 features, Adaptive Transparency, Personalized Spatial Audio, hearing features, and Apple platform controls. |
| Mixed Android and iPhone household | OnePlus Buds 4 for value; AirPods Pro 2 for Apple-first use | The Buds 4 offer broader codec and battery value. AirPods still work on Android for basic audio, but their ecosystem functionality is reduced. |
| Workout or outdoor use | OnePlus Buds 4 | IP55 is a stronger published ingress rating than AirPods Pro 2’s IPX4, although neither is intended for submersion. |
| Apple hearing and spatial-audio features | AirPods Pro 2 | They include Hearing Test, Hearing Aid, Hearing Protection, and Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking. |
There is no fair single-number verdict for every category. OnePlus and Apple publish battery figures under different conditions, and the available reviews do not provide a controlled, head-to-head ANC test between these exact models.
What you get from each pair
OnePlus Buds 4
The Buds 4 use an 11 mm woofer and 6 mm tweeter in each earbud, with dual DACs noted by Android Central’s July 8, 2025 review. OnePlus lists LHDC 5.0, AAC, and SBC codec support; Bluetooth 5.4; real-time adaptive active noise cancellation with claimed noise reduction of up to 55 dB; three microphones per side; dual-device connection; Google Fast Pair; and a 47 ms low-latency mode.
#1 Best Overall
- Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation: OnePlus noise cancelling bluetooth earbuds let you experience up to 49dB of active noise cancellation with a frequency range of 4KHz to block out distractions for immersive listening in any environment.
- Titanized Diaphragm: The oneplus buds features a 12.4mm titanium-coated diaphragm delivers richer bass, clearer vocals, and a superior audio experience, enhancing every note and beat.
- Basswave 2.0: Enjoy deep, irresistible bass and pristine vocals with Basswave 2.0 technology on OnePlus wireless bluetooth earbuds, elevating your music to new heights of clarity and impact.
- Long-Lasting Battery: Play music for up to 44 hours with ANC off or up to 20 hours with ANC on, OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro ensures extended enjoyment of your favorite tunes without frequent recharging.
- Rapid Charging: OnePlus earbuds offer up to 11 hours of playtime with just 10 minutes of charging, so you can quickly resume your music enjoyment on the go.
The feature set is broad for a mid-priced model. LHDC can provide higher-bitrate Bluetooth audio when both the phone and the listening environment support it. AAC and SBC provide the practical fallback for devices that do not support LHDC. Dual-device connection is useful if you regularly move between a phone and a computer, while Fast Pair simplifies initial Android setup.
AirPods Pro 2
AirPods Pro 2 use Apple’s H2 headphone chip. Apple lists Active Noise Cancellation, Adaptive Transparency, Adaptive EQ, Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, Hearing Test, Hearing Aid, and Hearing Protection. They use Bluetooth 5.3 and can charge through MagSafe, an Apple Watch charger, Qi, or a cable.
Those capabilities are designed around Apple’s operating systems and devices. Apple lists compatibility with iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and Apple TV. The earbuds can also operate as Bluetooth headphones with non-Apple devices, but Apple explicitly warns that functionality is limited outside its ecosystem.

Android and iPhone compatibility
Using OnePlus Buds 4 with Android
This is the Buds 4’s natural environment. Android users can take advantage of the listed LHDC codec when their phone supports it, use Google Fast Pair, connect to two devices, and access the OnePlus-specific gaming and translation functions where the required OnePlus software and hardware are present. The 47 ms low-latency mode is aimed at reducing the delay between a game and what you hear.
Not every Android phone offers every OnePlus feature. Codec availability depends on the phone, operating-system support, and the active Bluetooth settings. If LHDC is unavailable or unstable, AAC or SBC remains available, but the higher-bitrate option should not be treated as universal Android behavior.
Using OnePlus Buds 4 with iPhone
Yes, the Buds 4 can be used with an iPhone as Bluetooth earbuds. In practice, an iPhone should use a compatible standard codec such as AAC or SBC rather than OnePlus’s Android-focused LHDC features. Basic listening and calling are the realistic expectation; OnePlus-only gaming, translation, and deeper device integration may not be available on iOS.
This makes the Buds 4 a sensible choice for someone who owns an iPhone but wants one pair that also works well with Android devices in the household. They are less compelling if the iPhone is your primary device and you specifically want Apple’s spatial-audio, hearing, and automatic ecosystem behaviors.
Using AirPods Pro 2 with Android
AirPods Pro 2 can pair with Android as Bluetooth headphones. You should expect basic audio and whatever standard Bluetooth controls the phone exposes, not the full Apple feature set. Apple’s own technical specifications state that AirPods Pro can be used with non-Apple devices but that functionality is limited.
Rank #2
- WIRELESS EARBUDS: Compact and lightweight buds designed for comfortable all-day wear.
- SECURE FIT: Ergonomic design helps keep the buds snugly in place during daily activities.
- CLEAR SOUND: Delivers crisp audio quality for music, calls, and media on the go.
- EASY CONNECTIVITY: Simple pairing process allows quick connection to your devices.
- PORTABLE DESIGN: Lightweight and compact buds are easy to carry wherever you go.
That limitation matters if you are buying them for features rather than brand familiarity. The H2 hardware remains inside the earbuds, but Apple-device functions such as Personalized Spatial Audio, Adaptive Transparency controls, and the integrated hearing tools are not a reason to pay extra for an Android-only setup unless you also use Apple hardware.
Audio hardware and codec support
| Specification | OnePlus Buds 4 | AirPods Pro 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Driver or processing platform | 11 mm woofer plus 6 mm tweeter; dual DACs reported by Android Central | Apple H2 headphone chip; Adaptive EQ |
| Bluetooth version | Bluetooth 5.4 | Bluetooth 5.3 |
| Listed codecs | LHDC 5.0, AAC, SBC | Apple does not list a comparable codec menu in the supplied specifications |
| Distinctive audio features | 47 ms low-latency mode and OnePlus-specific gaming features | Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking |
The Buds 4 take a conventional two-driver approach: a separate woofer handles lower frequencies and a tweeter handles higher frequencies. LHDC 5.0 is the headline feature for compatible Android phones, but codec support alone does not guarantee better sound. The phone, software, fit, recording quality, and tuning all affect what you hear.
AirPods Pro 2 focus less on a user-selectable codec list and more on Apple’s processing. Personalized Spatial Audio can adapt compatible content to your ears and head movement when used with supported Apple devices. If you mainly stream ordinary stereo audio on Android, that advantage is largely unavailable.

OnePlus Buds 4 ANC
OnePlus rates the Buds 4’s real-time adaptive ANC for noise reduction of up to 55 dB. That is a manufacturer claim, not a universal measurement of every frequency or environment. OnePlus also rates battery life separately with ANC enabled, which shows that the mode has a meaningful power cost.
SoundGuys scored the Buds 4 8.0/10 in its August 2025 review and highlighted ANC, audio quality, comfort, LHDC, and portability. Android Central likewise listed the claimed 55 dB ANC among the model’s strengths. These assessments support the Buds 4 as a strong value option, but they do not establish that it cancels more noise than AirPods Pro 2 in a controlled comparison.
AirPods Pro 2 ANC and transparency
AirPods Pro 2 provide Active Noise Cancellation and Adaptive Transparency. Adaptive Transparency is the more distinctive feature: it is designed to let environmental sound through while managing loud or sudden noise, rather than simply switching between a fixed isolation mode and a fixed pass-through mode.
Apple does not provide a directly comparable decibel figure in the supplied specifications. AirPods Pro 2 are therefore easier to recommend for users who prioritize Apple’s transparency behavior than for readers seeking a published maximum-noise-reduction number.

Which has better ANC?
For Android value, the Buds 4 make the stronger case: they have a high claimed reduction figure and positive review coverage at a lower documented retail price. For an iPhone user, AirPods Pro 2 may feel better integrated because ANC and Adaptive Transparency can be controlled alongside Apple’s other audio features. Without a common laboratory test, declaring one universally superior would overstate the evidence.

Battery life: the numbers are not a direct head-to-head test
| Battery measure | OnePlus Buds 4 | AirPods Pro 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Earbuds, ANC off | Up to 11 hours per earbud in AAC at 50% volume | Up to 6 hours per charge |
| Total with charging case | Up to 45 hours in AAC, ANC off, at 50% volume | Up to 30 hours with the case |
| Earbuds, ANC on | 6 hours | Not stated in the supplied Apple specification |
| Test qualification | OnePlus specification conditions: AAC, ANC off for the headline figures, 50% volume | Apple’s published maximum listening figures; the supplied specification does not provide matching codec and volume conditions |
On the manufacturers’ published figures, the Buds 4 have the clear endurance advantage: up to 11 hours per earbud and 45 hours including the case under OnePlus’s AAC, ANC-off, 50%-volume conditions. With ANC enabled, OnePlus lists 6 hours for the earbuds and 24 hours including the case.
Apple rates AirPods Pro 2 for up to 6 hours per charge and up to 30 hours with the case. Because the companies use different test procedures and disclosures, these values are useful for planning but are not a laboratory head-to-head result. Actual runtime changes with volume, codec, ANC, calls, temperature, and age of the battery.
Charging and case convenience
AirPods Pro 2 have the more flexible documented charging system. Apple supports MagSafe, Apple Watch, Qi, and cable charging, so owners who already have any of those chargers have several options.
Android Central reported that the Buds 4 case lacks wireless charging. That is a practical compromise rather than a sound-quality issue: you will need a cable when the case battery is low. The case remains portable, and SoundGuys included portability among the Buds 4’s strengths.
Durability and weather resistance
| Rating | OnePlus Buds 4 | AirPods Pro 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Published ingress rating | IP55 dust and water resistance | IPX4 sweat and water resistance |
| Practical implication | Stronger published protection against dust and water spray | Suitable for sweat and light water exposure, with no dust rating stated |
| Submersion | Not intended for submersion | Not intended for submersion |
IP55 gives the Buds 4 the stronger published protection. The first digit covers dust protection and the second covers water jets under standardized conditions. IPX4 indicates water-splash resistance but does not state a dust rating. Neither rating makes the earbuds waterproof for swimming, showering, or prolonged immersion.
Comfort, fit, and controls
Comfort is inherently personal because ear shape, tip size, seal, and wearing time vary. The available Buds 4 reviews do not agree on a universal fit verdict: SoundGuys highlighted comfort, while Android Central described the buds as chunky. That combination suggests that fit should be judged by your ears rather than by dimensions alone.
Android Central also found the Buds 4’s capacitive controls frustrating. Accidental touches or missed commands can be more noticeable when switching between ANC, transparency, playback, and calls. If physical control behavior is important to you, test the controls during ordinary use instead of assuming that a feature list predicts the experience.
AirPods Pro 2’s Apple-device controls and settings are a major part of their appeal, but the supplied specifications do not provide a directly comparable comfort or control assessment. Their strongest documented advantage is integration with Apple hardware, not a proven universal fit advantage.

- EASY CONNECTIVITY: Simple pairing process allows quick connection to your devices.

Calls and microphones
OnePlus lists three microphones per side on the Buds 4, a substantial hardware detail for voice pickup and noise processing. That specification alone does not establish call quality in wind, traffic, or a busy office, but it explains why microphone performance is part of the model’s design brief.
The supplied AirPods Pro 2 specifications identify the H2 chip and the broader Apple feature set but do not provide a matching microphone count or a controlled call-quality result. For that reason, this comparison cannot honestly award a call-quality winner. If calls are critical, test each pair with your phone in the places where you normally speak.
Price and value
Android Central listed a U.S. retail price of $129.99 for the OnePlus Buds 4 in its review published July 8, 2025. That is a documented retail reference, not a promise of today’s price or a current promotion. The supplied material does not establish a current AirPods Pro 2 street price, so a precise price-gap calculation would be misleading.
The Buds 4’s value case comes from the combination of their lower documented positioning, long battery rating, LHDC, IP55, multipoint, and low-latency features. AirPods Pro 2 justify a higher outlay for buyers who will use Apple-device integration, Adaptive Transparency, Personalized Spatial Audio, or the hearing functions. An Android-only buyer generally pays for capabilities they cannot fully use when choosing AirPods.
Which earbuds fit your situation?
You use a OnePlus phone
Choose OnePlus Buds 4. This is the clearest match for the features OnePlus reserves for its own phones, including low-latency gaming and translation functions. You also get the Buds 4’s LHDC option, dual-device connection, Google Fast Pair, IP55 rating, and longer published battery figures.
You use another Android phone
The Buds 4 remain the default recommendation if you value battery life, codec flexibility, ANC, and durability. Confirm that your phone supports the LHDC mode you want; otherwise, the earbuds still operate through AAC or SBC. AirPods Pro 2 make sense only if you also own Apple devices or strongly prefer their hardware design despite the limited Android functionality.
You use an iPhone, iPad, or Mac every day
Choose AirPods Pro 2. The H2 feature set, Adaptive Transparency, Personalized Spatial Audio, and hearing tools are designed for Apple’s supported devices. Their charging options also integrate with MagSafe, Apple Watch, Qi, and cable chargers.

Choose OnePlus Buds 4 if consistent cross-platform value is more important than Apple-specific features. They give you a broad codec fallback and a longer published battery rating. Choose AirPods Pro 2 if your primary experience is Apple-based and Android is only an occasional secondary device; basic Bluetooth audio will work there, but the limited functionality should be acceptable before you buy.
You train outdoors or work in dusty places
The Buds 4 have the stronger published ingress rating at IP55, compared with IPX4 for AirPods Pro 2. Treat both as splash- and sweat-resistant products, not as submersible equipment, and keep the charging case away from water.
How to make the decision without overvaluing specifications
- Identify your primary phone. Android users should start with the Buds 4; iPhone users with other Apple hardware should start with AirPods Pro 2.
- List the features you will actually use. Select LHDC, multipoint, long battery life, and low-latency gaming for the Buds 4. Select Adaptive Transparency, Spatial Audio, and hearing features for AirPods Pro 2.
- Check the rating and charging trade-off. Decide whether IP55 matters more to you than AirPods Pro 2’s wireless charging choices.
- Set realistic ANC expectations. The Buds 4 have a 55 dB maximum claim, while Apple emphasizes ANC and Adaptive Transparency without a matching number. Neither figure predicts every environment.
- Compare the actual price on the day you buy. The Buds 4’s $129.99 U.S. retail figure comes from a July 2025 review and should not be treated as a current discount or guaranteed price.
Bottom line
OnePlus Buds 4 are the better all-around value for Android: they combine the longer rated battery life, LHDC 5.0, IP55 protection, multipoint, and OnePlus-specific gaming and translation features. AirPods Pro 2 are the better choice for iPhone users invested in Apple devices, because their H2 processing, Adaptive Transparency, Personalized Spatial Audio, and hearing tools are designed around that ecosystem. Both can cross platforms, but each loses important advantages when used outside its intended environment.
