Choose the OnePlus 16 if battery capacity, very fast charging, a high gaming refresh rate and a lower market price matter most. Choose the iPhone 18 Pro if you value Apple’s video workflow, sustained performance, iOS 27 and continuity with Apple devices. The often-quoted $304 difference comes from one market comparison, not a universal worldwide price spread; check your country, storage tier, taxes, warranty and import costs before deciding.

Round 1: Price and value
The cited comparison awards price and value to the OnePlus 16 and reports a $304 gap. That is an editorial, market-specific comparison—not a guaranteed global MSRP difference. Your result can change with storage capacity, local tax, launch promotions, exchange rates, shipping, import duty and warranty coverage. Treat the figure as a starting point, then compare current local listings for the same storage tier.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteRound 2: Display
The OnePlus 16 is aimed at buyers who want a large, fast panel. Its 6.78-inch display runs adaptively from 1Hz to 165Hz and can reach 185Hz in supported games. That combination can make scrolling and compatible gaming look smoother, while the 2772×1272 resolution keeps the panel detailed.

- 161.4 x 76.7 x 8.1 mm (6.35 x 3.02 x 0.32 in)
The iPhone 18 Pro’s stated advantage is not a headline refresh-rate number in this comparison. Its appeal is Apple’s display tuning, integrated camera controls and close interaction with iOS and the wider Apple ecosystem. Pick the OnePlus for gaming motion and screen size; pick the iPhone if display behavior and system integration matter more than maximum refresh rate.
Round 3: Battery and charging
OnePlus lists a dual-cell battery equivalent to 9000mAh, with charging up to 100W over a cable and 50W wirelessly. Those are unusually aggressive charging specifications for a mainstream flagship and make the OnePlus the obvious choice for minimizing time beside an outlet. Actual speed depends on the compatible charger, cable, temperature and regional package contents.
Apple reports up to 36 hours of video playback for iPhone 18 Pro eSIM models. It also states that the phone can reach 50% charge in around 15 minutes when wired, or 50% in 30 minutes wirelessly, under its stated conditions. Battery capacity and vendor playback claims are different measurements, so they should not be treated as a laboratory head-to-head. Independent local testing is still the best way to judge endurance for your network and apps.

OnePlus specifies Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, manufactured on a 2nm process and reaching up to 5.01GHz. Those specifications target high peak performance and demanding gaming.
The iPhone 18 Pro uses Apple’s A20 Pro: a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU and dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple also describes a redesigned vapor chamber intended to sustain performance during long workloads. The cited eight-round comparison gives the performance round to the iPhone 18 Pro. That is the source’s conclusion, not a claim of a common benchmark run on both phones; no directly comparable independent score is established here.
Round 5: Still photography
OnePlus takes a resolution-and-zoom approach. Its listed array combines a 200MP stabilized main camera, a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP telephoto, with up to 3x optical zoom and 120x digital zoom. This is attractive for daylight detail and subjects that benefit from reach, although extreme digital zoom should be judged from real photos rather than the maximum label.
Apple’s 48MP Fusion main camera adds a variable aperture and manual aperture control. That gives photographers a more direct way to manage depth of field and light, alongside Apple’s computational processing. The two phones therefore emphasize different strengths: OnePlus offers more stated resolution and zoom range, while Apple emphasizes aperture control and computational consistency.
Round 6: Video
The cited comparison awards video to the iPhone 18 Pro. Apple says its new camera system adds Pro controls and expanded video capabilities. OnePlus lists multiple video modes on its specification page, but the available material does not provide a common test using the same scenes, stabilization settings, codecs and lighting. If you edit frequently, shoot for clients or rely on a mature phone-to-desktop workflow, the iPhone’s documented Pro controls and Apple ecosystem make it the safer choice.
Round 7: Software, support and ecosystem
iPhone 18 Pro ships with iOS 27, Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. The comparison awards this round to Apple, reflecting both its software ecosystem and greater confidence in documented support. Apple devices, services and accessories are designed to work together, which can reduce friction if you already use a Mac, iPad, Apple Watch or AirPods.
OnePlus’s official site identifies OxygenOS 16 as its current software generation. The cited OnePlus 16 specification page does not state a global support-year commitment, so do not assume a specific number of major updates without a regional policy or purchase documentation. OnePlus is the better fit when Android flexibility and the hardware specification matter more than ecosystem continuity.

Gadgets 360 lists October 12, 2026 for the OnePlus 16 and September 9, 2026 for the iPhone 18 Pro. Apple’s own announcement is dated September 9 and says iPhone 18 Pro availability began September 18, so September 9 should be read as the announcement date rather than the on-sale date.

The OnePlus specification link is China-region. Global release status, supported 4G and 5G bands, carrier certification, Google services, local stock and warranty coverage are not established by that page. Before importing, verify the exact model number, network bands, eSIM or physical-SIM configuration, charger plug, return rights and who will honor repairs. Apple’s local retail and carrier availability is generally easier to confirm, but you should still check regional SIM and warranty terms.
Which phone should you buy?
Pick the OnePlus 16 when
- You want the largest stated battery and the fastest wired and wireless charging in this comparison.
- You play games that can use very high refresh rates.
- You prefer Android and want the lower price shown in the cited market comparison.
- You value high-resolution stills and long-range zoom hardware.
Pick the iPhone 18 Pro when
- Video recording, editing and sharing are central to your phone use.
- You want Apple’s A20 Pro platform, iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence.
- You already rely on Apple devices and want continuity rather than a platform switch.
- You prefer Apple’s variable-aperture camera controls and a more clearly documented support position.
What to verify before paying
- Match storage tiers and calculate the final local price, including tax, shipping and import charges.
- Confirm the OnePlus model’s bands, SIM setup, software services and warranty in your country.
- Check whether the charger and the cable support the advertised charging rates in your region.
- For camera decisions, compare full-resolution samples and video clips from your network and lighting conditions; the published specifications are not a substitute for a common independent test.
Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak summarized Apple’s emphasis this way: “With iPhone 18 Pro, we’ve made advancements to the areas our users care about most: camera, performance, battery, and intelligence.” The OnePlus 16 answers the same buying question from a different angle: more battery and charging hardware, a faster gaming display and a potentially lower entry price.
