In an Android Authority poll published October 6, 2026, 93% of 2,252 respondents said they would buy the OnePlus 16 without hesitation or would consider it depending on price—if it were available in their market. That is strong stated interest among the poll’s readers, not evidence of sales, representative market demand, or why OnePlus changed its regional rollout plans. The results suggest many respondents are interested; they do not prove hardware was never a factor.
What the OnePlus 16 poll actually says
Android Authority asked readers whether they would buy the OnePlus 16 if it were available in their market. Its October 6, 2026 poll received 2,252 responses:
| # | Preview | Product | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 |
|
OnePlus Open Dual SIM, 512GB + 16GB RAM, Voyager Black - Unlocked (Renewed) | $1,069.99 | Buy on Amazon |
| Answer | Respondents | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Would buy “without question” | 1,379 | 61% |
| Decision would depend on price | 719 | 32% |
| Would not buy | 154 | 7% |
The 93% figure combines the first two groups. It means those respondents were at least open to buying the phone under the poll’s hypothetical conditions—not that they placed orders or made an unconditional commitment. The respondents were Android Authority readers who chose to answer, so this is not a representative consumer survey, sales report, or market-share measure. See Android Authority’s poll and its question.
Price remains a real condition
Nearly one-third of respondents—719 people, or 32%—said price would affect their decision. That is substantial interest, but it also shows why the headline 93% should not be read as a prediction of purchases: the poll did not establish what price respondents would accept, and willingness can change when a real price and product are presented.
Why the poll cannot settle whether hardware was the issue
The poll records answers to a hypothetical question. It does not compare purchase intent across hardware configurations, measure what buyers thought of OnePlus devices, or identify the reasons for the company’s regional business decision. Even a large share of favorable responses cannot establish that hardware played no role.
OnePlus’s official notice says it decided to conclude product rollouts in Europe and North America. It does not state in the notice that hardware was—or was not—the cause. The announcement is about those regional rollouts; it does not establish launch plans in China, India, or every other market. Read OnePlus’s “Notice of Business Adjustment”.
OnePlus separately said existing devices in those regions would continue to receive software updates, security patches, and after-sales support. That commitment concerns customers who already own devices; it does not mean a new OnePlus 16 rollout is planned there.
What is known about the OnePlus 16—and what remains uncertain
On July 31, 2026, Android Authority reported that OnePlus executive Liu Baoyou had confirmed the OnePlus 16 was in development. The report also attributed a 165Hz screen and gaming-oriented technologies to company communications. Those points are not a complete final specification sheet.
Other details discussed in coverage, including a 9,000mAh battery and processor or camera configurations, were presented as tips or expected specifications rather than confirmed final features. Treat them as unverified until OnePlus publishes a product announcement for the relevant market. Read the July 31 report on the phone’s development.
That distinction matters when interpreting the poll: respondents were expressing interest in a not-yet-fully-specified product, not reacting to a confirmed price, final hardware, or local launch offer.

For buyers in North America or Europe, a phone sold in another region is not automatically a practical substitute for a locally supported model. TechRepublic’s July 31, 2026 import guide recommends checking the exact model number and the details that affect everyday use and service:
Recommended Free Tools
- Network compatibility: Compare the exact model’s LTE and 5G bands with your carrier’s requirements.
- Carrier features: Confirm that functions such as VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling work on your carrier. Do not assume band compatibility guarantees access to every service.
- Software region: Check the operating-system region, language support, and Google Play availability for the exact device.
- Warranty and repairs: Find out which country or seller handles warranty claims, where repairs take place, and who pays for return shipping.
- Total cost and returns: Establish the confirmed price, shipping and import costs, and the seller’s return terms before ordering.
The guide noted that OnePlus 16-specific import details were unconfirmed when it was published. These are checks to make, not established claims about the final phone or its regional support. Read TechRepublic’s OnePlus 16 import guide.
Quick Recap
How to read the headline without overstating the evidence
- Supported: Many Android Authority poll respondents expressed interest in buying the OnePlus 16 if it were available in their market.
- Not supported by this poll: That 93% of consumers would buy it, that the phone has achieved strong sales, or that hardware had no bearing on OnePlus’s decisions.
- Established separately: OnePlus announced the end of product rollouts in Europe and North America while promising continued support for existing devices.
- Still unsettled: The OnePlus 16’s final specifications, price, and market-by-market availability were not established by the cited coverage.
