The OnePlus 13R is the better fit if you want a larger adaptive-refresh display, a dedicated 2× telephoto camera, or configurations with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The REDMI Turbo 5 stands out for its larger stated battery, faster wired charging, smaller screen, and Xiaomi’s stated software-support period. Neither phone is a proven overall performance or camera winner based on specifications alone.
This comparison uses official India specifications and manufacturer claims available through October 7, 2026. It is not a hands-on review or benchmark test.

Choose the OnePlus if you prefer more screen area or want the listed adaptive-refresh feature. The Redmi’s smaller display may suit someone who would rather have a more compact screen. The manufacturers’ peak-brightness figures—up to 4,500 nits for OnePlus and 3,500 nits for Xiaomi—should not be treated as a controlled head-to-head brightness test.
Which phone has the faster processor?
The OnePlus 13R uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the REDMI Turbo 5 uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 Ultra. Those names identify different platforms, but the cited specifications do not establish which phone is faster in everyday use, sustained workloads, gaming, or thermal performance. That requires comparable testing.
OnePlus lists configurations up to 16GB RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. Xiaomi lists the Turbo 5 with up to 12GB LPDDR5X and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage. The 13R therefore offers the higher listed maximum capacity; storage generation labels alone do not determine real-world speed across complete devices.
Battery and charging: Redmi has the bigger published figures
Xiaomi lists a 7,540mAh battery and 100W HyperCharge for the REDMI Turbo 5. The OnePlus 13R lists a 6,000mAh typical-capacity battery and 80W SUPERVOOC. On stated capacity and charging wattage, the Redmi leads. Those figures do not establish comparative battery life: screen use, network conditions, software, and other factors affect endurance.
Rank #2
Xiaomi says the Turbo 5 can charge up to 51% in approximately 30 minutes. This is a manufacturer claim, not an independently measured result. Xiaomi lists a 100W adapter in the box; OnePlus lists an adapter among the 13R’s in-box items.
Camera comparison: which has a telephoto camera?
The OnePlus 13R is the one with a dedicated telephoto camera: its listed rear system includes a 50MP telephoto lens with 2× optical zoom, alongside a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8MP ultrawide camera. Xiaomi lists a 50MP Sony IMX882 main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide camera for the Turbo 5; its listed rear setup is dual-camera.
That gives the OnePlus a distinct hardware option for optical zoom. It does not prove that it takes better photos overall: image quality also depends on processing, lens performance, and shooting conditions, and no comparable photo test is available here. The Redmi lists a 20MP front camera and the OnePlus a 16MP front camera; megapixel counts alone do not establish selfie quality.

Software updates and durability
Xiaomi states that the REDMI Turbo 5 will receive four years of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. This is Xiaomi’s stated commitment in its official FAQ. The inspected OnePlus specifications page identifies OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15 but does not state a comparable support duration, so these sources do not establish which phone will receive support for longer.

Xiaomi lists IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for the Turbo 5 in the cited FAQ. The inspected OnePlus specifications do not state an IP rating. That omission is not proof that the 13R has no rating; check the exact regional product documentation before relying on a durability rating.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Price difference in India
OnePlus India lists MRP of ₹42,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB model and ₹49,999 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB model. These are the manufacturer’s listed MRPs, not a live sale-price check. The official Xiaomi India product page cited here does not state a price for the REDMI Turbo 5, so a numeric price difference cannot be established from these sources.
For a useful buying comparison, check current prices for matching configurations and compare the same basis: market, seller, and whether the figure is MRP, regular listed price, or a temporary offer. The OnePlus amounts are sourced from its India specifications page.

What comes in the box?
Both manufacturers list a protective case in the box. OnePlus also lists an adapter, cable, and SIM ejector among its in-box items. Xiaomi lists a 100W adapter, cable, protective case, pre-applied screen protector, SIM tool, and manual. Confirm the package contents for the exact market and variant you are purchasing.
Which phone should you buy?
- Choose the OnePlus 13R if you want the larger 6.78-inch display, a listed LTPO adaptive-refresh panel, a dedicated 2× optical telephoto camera, or the option of 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
- Choose the REDMI Turbo 5 if its smaller 6.59-inch screen suits you and you prioritize its larger stated battery, higher stated charging wattage, or Xiaomi’s published update commitment.
- Compare before deciding if price is decisive: check current, matched configuration prices in your market, along with warranty and regional variant details. The available India sources do not provide a verified current Xiaomi price for a direct price-gap calculation.
These are specification-based trade-offs, not a universal winner. Battery endurance, actual speed, camera quality, and the practical value of the display depend on use and require evidence beyond the published specifications cited here.
