Which phone has the better display and performance specifications?
The OnePlus 13R lists the higher-resolution screen and a more flexible refresh-rate range: 2780 × 1264 with dynamic 1–120Hz, compared with the A56’s FHD+ 120Hz display. OnePlus also specifies a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Samsung’s cited US announcement lists 8GB RAM but does not name the A56 chipset, so it does not support a complete processor comparison for the US model.
On paper, those listed OnePlus components make it the more performance-oriented option. They do not, by themselves, establish real-world speed, gaming performance, or display quality; no comparable independent tests are cited here.
How do the camera systems differ?
The key layout difference is the OnePlus 13R’s dedicated 2x optical-zoom telephoto camera versus the Galaxy A56’s macro camera. Both list a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization. Samsung specifies a 12MP ultra-wide, while OnePlus lists an 8MP ultra-wide; OnePlus lists a 16MP front camera to Samsung’s 12MP.

These are component specifications, not a picture-quality ranking. Camera results depend on more than megapixel counts, and the cited sources do not provide comparable test results.
Which has the larger battery and faster charging?
OnePlus lists a 6,000mAh battery and 55W SUPERVOOC charging for the US 13R. Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical battery and 45W charging for the A56. These are manufacturer specifications, not measured battery-life or charge-time results.
OnePlus notes that charging rates up to 80W are available only with specified OnePlus adapters; the 80W figure should not be treated as the standard US charging specification. Charging rates and included adapters can vary by market and bundle, so verify the exact phone and charger configuration before purchase.

Which phone has the clearer water-resistance and software-support commitment?
Samsung documents IP67 water and dust resistance for the Galaxy A56 and promises up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, along with six years of security updates. Its announcement describes this as “up to” six generations; it is not a promise of six major upgrades beyond any particular starting version.

The cited OnePlus US material identifies Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 but does not establish a comparable support duration or water-resistance rating. That is a limit of the cited specifications, not evidence that the phone has no support policy or resistance rating. For a longevity-focused decision, use a directly comparable commitment for the exact regional model rather than assuming the policies match.
Quick Recap
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the OnePlus 13R if its listed Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 12GB RAM, higher-resolution LTPO display, larger battery, or dedicated 2x telephoto camera best fits your priorities—and its current price is competitive at the storage size you want.
- Choose the Galaxy A56 if IP67 protection and Samsung’s explicitly stated software-support period matter more, or if its current like-for-like price is more attractive.
- Compare exact regional models before buying. Prices, storage configurations, supported bands, and charger bundles can vary by market. Samsung’s US specifications and announcement should not be treated as proof of specifications for another region.
