For buyers in India, Xiaomi’s store listing showed the Turbo 5 at ₹41,999, but the available OnePlus figures are MRPs for different memory configurations—not a like-for-like current price comparison.

Which phone has the better display?
The OnePlus 12R has the larger display at 6.78 inches, compared with 6.59 inches on the Redmi Turbo 5. Its listed panel is LTPO AMOLED with a 1–120 Hz refresh range; Xiaomi lists a 120 Hz AMOLED panel for the Turbo 5. Both are high-resolution displays, but those specifications alone do not establish which looks better in person. Brightness, color tuning, viewing conditions, and individual preference also matter.
How do their processors, memory, and storage compare?
OnePlus lists the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, while Xiaomi India lists the Dimensity 8500-Ultra. The model names and specification sheets do not establish which phone performs faster in games or everyday use; that requires independent tests using comparable software and conditions.

The configurations also differ. The US OnePlus page lists 8GB/128GB and 16GB/256GB, with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 3.1 storage. Xiaomi India lists 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB, with LPDDR5X and UFS 4.1. The Turbo 5 configurations shown therefore start with more storage, while the OnePlus page offers a 16GB RAM option. Check the exact regional version sold to you before comparing.
Which has the larger battery, and what about charging?
Xiaomi lists a 7,540 mAh battery for the Redmi Turbo 5; OnePlus lists a typical capacity of 5,500 mAh for the 12R. The Turbo 5 therefore has the larger stated capacity, but capacity is not a battery-life test: actual endurance depends on the phone, software, network, display settings, and workload.
Charging specifications vary by region for the OnePlus 12R. Its US page specifies 80W, while its India page specifies 100W. Xiaomi India lists 100W HyperCharge for the Turbo 5. Wattage is not a direct measure of how long a phone takes to charge, and the listed in-box accessories are region-specific: the US OnePlus page names an 80W adapter, while Xiaomi India lists a 100W adapter. Confirm the local package contents rather than assuming an adapter is included with every version.

What do the camera specifications tell you?
The 12R’s listed rear setup combines a 50 MP Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS/EIS, an 8 MP ultra-wide, and a 2 MP macro camera. Xiaomi lists a 50 MP Sony IMX882 main camera with OIS/EIS and an 8 MP ultra-wide on the Turbo 5.
These component lists do not establish photo or video quality. Sensor processing, lenses, software, and shooting conditions affect results; no matched independent camera testing is available here to support a quality verdict.
Which phone has the longer stated software support?
Xiaomi says the Redmi Turbo 5 will receive four Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. OnePlus’ US specification page states at least three Android OS generations and four years of security updates from launch for the 12R. On those manufacturer-stated commitments, Xiaomi’s window is longer. The figures are commitments, not a guarantee that updates will arrive everywhere on the same schedule.

A Xiaomi India store listing accessed on October 7, 2026 displayed the Redmi Turbo 5 at ₹41,999 for both the 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB variants. The listing price can change and should not be treated as a guaranteed future price.
OnePlus India’s specification page lists MRP—not a verified current checkout price—of ₹39,999 for the 8GB/128GB 12R and ₹45,999 for the 16GB/256GB version. Because the memory and storage configurations differ from Xiaomi’s listed Turbo 5 variants, and because one figure is a displayed listing price while the other is MRP, these numbers do not establish a precise current price gap.
To compare what you would actually pay, check both phones in the same Indian market and at the same retailer, match storage as closely as possible, and distinguish a live checkout price from MRP. Record the date and count any bank offer separately; dated promotional offers are not a reliable substitute for current pricing.
Which one should you choose?
- Consider the Redmi Turbo 5 if the India-market configuration suits you and you prioritize its larger stated battery, 256GB listed storage options, or Xiaomi’s longer stated update commitment.
- Consider the OnePlus 12R if you prefer its larger display, want the listed 16GB/256GB configuration, or are choosing between its regional versions and have confirmed the charging specification for your market.
- Compare live local prices before deciding if value is the deciding factor: the available India figures are not a like-for-like checkout-price comparison.
These are specification-based trade-offs, not a claim that either phone is faster, lasts longer in practice, takes better photos, or charges sooner.
