One UI Home is Samsung’s built-in Home-screen app for Galaxy phones and tablets. It provides the screen where you find and launch apps, place widgets, and arrange shortcuts. Seeing it in battery usage is not, by itself, a sign of a problem; Samsung says it comes preinstalled and cannot be removed.
What is One UI Home on a Samsung phone?
One UI Home is the app that manages the Galaxy Home screen: the pages of app icons, folders, and widgets you see after leaving an app. Samsung describes it as providing navigation tools for launching apps and widgets. It is one part of the Galaxy experience, not the entire One UI software layer. Samsung’s One UI Home overview
Samsung preinstalls One UI Home on Galaxy phones and tablets. Its settings let you arrange Home-screen items and manage features such as widgets, app badges, notification access, and Edge panels. The available options depend on the device and software version.
Why is One UI Home using battery?
One UI Home is the interface behind the Home screen, so it can appear in a battery-usage list while the phone is being used. That entry alone does not show that the app is suspicious or malfunctioning, and Samsung’s support information does not establish a normal battery percentage or a threshold that indicates a fault.

If you are investigating unusually fast battery drain, look at the phone’s overall usage pattern and whether the drain continues when the screen is idle. An entry for One UI Home is not a reason to try to remove it: Samsung identifies it as a preinstalled system app that cannot be uninstalled.
Can you uninstall One UI Home?
No. Samsung says One UI Home cannot be removed from Galaxy phones and tablets. You can change which Home app opens by default if another launcher is available for your device, but that changes the Home-screen interface rather than uninstalling One UI Home. Samsung’s overview of One UI Home

One UI 7 layout changes
Samsung says that on One UI 7 devices, the 4×5 and 5×5 grid arrangements are no longer in the default selection. In landscape view, the grid may reorient, and Home-screen editing is restricted: moving or deleting icons and widgets and resizing folders are unsupported. These details apply to the One UI 7 guidance, not necessarily to every Galaxy model or later software version.

Yes, if another Home app is available for your device. Changing the default Home app can affect widgets: Samsung warns that widgets may no longer appear after switching UI. Its guide says they return when you switch back to One UI Home. Which launcher and settings are available depends on the device and software version.
Why do One UI Home instructions differ between Galaxy devices?
Samsung’s guides cover different devices, regions, and software versions. Its Canada One UI 7 page, updated August 29, 2026, explicitly says that updates and screens can vary by software version, model, and region. The Japan guides for adding apps and switching the Home UI were updated August 28, 2026, and March 30, 2026, respectively. If a label or path in a guide is missing on your phone, check the equivalent Home screen or default-app settings on your installed software rather than assuming the feature is universal.
