For a manga-story route, skip the 94 episodes classified as pure filler, but do not automatically skip mixed canon/filler episodes. Mixed episodes contain manga-derived scenes, while anime-canon episodes are optional additions rather than part of the manga’s main continuity. The anime is still airing, so episode totals and classifications can change. This guide is dated October 2026 and uses the classifications available at that time.
How to use this One Piece filler list
One Piece episode labels are more useful than a simple “watch” or “skip” command. A pure-filler episode is anime-original and can be removed without losing the manga’s main plot. A mixed canon/filler episode combines manga material with original scenes, so skipping it can create gaps in story, character introductions, or transitions. Anime-canon episodes are also anime-original, but they are generally separated from disposable filler because they may add connective story or adaptation context.

- Manga route: watch manga-canon and mixed episodes; skip pure filler; decide case by case on anime-canon episodes.
- Complete anime route: watch every episode, including filler, if you want all jokes, detours, character moments, and references.
- Fast but flexible route: skip the pure-filler list below, then restore selected arcs such as G-8 when you want extra comedy or world-building.
AnimeFillerList’s 2026 classification counts 94 pure-filler episodes. A separate guide updated in September 2026 reports 1,168 episodes against 1,180 total aired episodes and estimates 38 hours saved by following its skip approach. Those figures are snapshots from different guide pages, not a permanent official total; the series remains ongoing and episode databases can classify borderline installments differently.
Pure filler episodes you can skip
The episodes in this table are labeled “Filler” by AnimeFillerList. They are the safest skips for viewers who want the manga’s story without anime-original detours.
#1 Best Overall
| Episodes | What to do | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 54–60 | Skip | Pure filler block after the early Grand Line material. |
| 98–99 | Skip | Short anime-original detour. |
| 102 | Skip | Standalone filler episode. |
| 131–143 | Skip | Long post-Alabasta filler run; selected episodes are discussed below as optional viewing. |
| 196–206 | Skip by default | The G-8/Fortress arc; widely treated as the best optional filler arc. |
| 220–225 | Skip | Anime-original storyline; episodes 220–224 are singled out as optional by a September 2026 guide. |
| 279–283 | Skip | Filler inserted around the Enies Lobby period. |
| 291–292 | Skip | Short filler pair that some viewers retain for comedy. |
| 303 | Skip | Standalone filler episode. |
| 317–319 | Skip | Short anime-original run. |
| 326–336 | Skip | Extended filler arc. |
| 382–384 | Skip | Three-episode detour. |
| 406–407 | Skip | Short filler pair; optional if you enjoy character-focused material. |
| 426–429 | Skip | Anime-original episodes tied to the wider movie-era promotion period. |
| 457–458 | Skip | Short filler transition. |
| 492 | Skip | Standalone crossover-style filler. |
| 542 | Skip | Standalone filler episode. |
| 575–578 | Skip | Four-episode detour. |
| 590 | Skip | Standalone filler episode. |
| 626–627 | Skip | Short anime-original pair. |
| 747–750 | Skip | Four-episode filler arc. |
| 780–782 | Skip | Optional for extra character and history material. |
| 895–896 | Skip | Short filler pair. |
| 907 | Skip | Standalone filler episode; optional for additional character context. |
| 1029–1030 | Skip | Movie-context filler that can be retained if you want that tie-in. |
Skipping a range means move directly from the last episode before the range to the first episode after it. Keep your place by recording the next episode number rather than relying on a streaming service’s “next” button, which may not identify filler consistently.
Mixed canon/filler episodes: do not skip automatically
AnimeFillerList classifies the following as mixed canon/filler. Each includes at least some manga-derived content, so a strict skip can remove material that later episodes assume you have seen.
| Episodes | Recommended action |
|---|---|
| 45–47, 61, 68–69, 101 | Watch; these early transitions combine canon scenes with anime-original additions. |
| 226, 354, 421, 489, 520, 574, 625, 628, 633 | Watch for the manga material, even if some scenes feel expendable. |
| 653, 657, 679, 690, 731, 738, 751 | Watch; do not treat the label as pure filler. |
| 777–778, 789, 803, 807, 878–879 | Watch to preserve canon scenes and continuity. |
| 881–885, 887–890, 924, 988–989, 991 | Watch; later arcs use these episodes as part of their narrative flow. |
If you are watching only for the manga plot and an episode feels slow, you can fast-forward anime-original padding inside a mixed episode. Do not delete the entire episode unless you have checked a scene-level guide, because the mixed classification does not identify which minutes are dispensable.

Anime-canon episodes: optional, not automatically disposable
The following episodes are anime-canon: 50–51, 93, 213–216, 418–420, 453–456, 497–499, 506, 737, 775, and 1084. They are anime-original but are separated from pure filler by the classification system.
- Keep them if you want additional character interactions, transitions between manga arcs, or material produced specifically for the anime.
- Skip them only when your goal is a strict manga-only experience and you are comfortable losing anime-exclusive scenes.
- Do not infer that “anime-canon” means the manga author wrote or later referenced every scene; it means the episode is treated as a distinct anime continuity category.
Can you skip G-8?
Yes. Episodes 196–206 are classified as pure filler, so skipping them does not remove manga plot. However, the September 2026 viewing guide identifies the G-8/Fortress arc as the standout filler run and says it plays like a convincing mini-arc rather than disposable padding.
Watch G-8 if you value the crew’s teamwork, naval-comedy setting, or a self-contained adventure between major canon arcs. Skip it if your priority is reaching the next manga storyline as quickly as possible. There is no later canon requirement that forces you to restore these episodes.

Optional filler worth restoring
“Filler” describes manga status, not entertainment value. The September 2026 guide specifically highlights these groups for viewers who want more than the shortest route:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →| Episodes | Why you might watch |
|---|---|
| 131–135 | Character moments and a slower post-Alabasta breather. |
| 139–143 | Additional crew-focused material from the same broad filler period. |
| 196–206 | G-8/Fortress, the guide’s recommended standout arc. |
| 220–224 | Extra adventure material before the next major canon developments. |
| 291–292 | Comedy-oriented episodes. |
| 303 | Standalone character and comedy content. |
| 317–319 | Short character-focused detour. |
| 406–407 | Additional character moments. |
| 780–782 | History and character context. |
| 907 | Extra character material. |
| 1029–1030 | Movie-context episodes for viewers who want that connection. |
These are recommendations, not canon upgrades. Watching them will not make a manga-only route more complete; it simply gives the anime’s original material a chance to work on its own terms.
Choose the right viewing route
| Route | Episodes to watch | Best for | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Complete anime | Every available episode | Viewers who want every detour, joke, and anime-original scene | Longest runtime and slower pacing in filler blocks |
| Manga-focused | Skip the 94 pure-filler episodes; watch mixed episodes; optionally skip anime-canon | Readers prioritizing manga continuity | You lose original character moments and some transition material |
| Curated anime | Use the pure-filler list, then restore G-8 and other selected groups | Viewers balancing pace with the best-regarded detours | Requires keeping a custom watch list |
| Manga first | Read the manga, then watch selected canon or favorite anime arcs | People with limited time or low tolerance for anime pacing | Requires access to the manga and gives up animated performances for skipped chapters |
For the manga route, VIZ’s One Piece Box Set 1: East Blue and Baroque Works contains volumes 1–23 in paperback. That covers the opening saga through Baroque Works and can serve as a starting point for reading instead of watching early filler.

Step-by-step: skip filler without losing your place
- Pick your route. Decide whether you are skipping only pure filler or also anime-canon episodes. Write that choice down before starting.
- Check the episode number, not just the title. Titles and thumbnails vary by platform, while the ranges above are numbered.
- Skip complete pure-filler ranges. For example, after episode 195, jump to episode 207 if you are skipping G-8.
- Watch every mixed episode. Do not remove an episode merely because its title resembles a filler arc.
- Handle anime-canon deliberately. Keep episodes 50–51, 93, 213–216, 418–420, 453–456, 497–499, 506, 737, 775, and 1084 unless you have chosen a strict manga-only route.
- Restore optional arcs later. If the main story feels too compressed, return to G-8 or another optional group without changing your canon progress.
- Confirm the next episode after a skip. Streaming catalogs sometimes insert specials, recaps, or movie tie-ins in a different order. Compare the displayed number with this list before pressing play.
Where to continue after skipping
A current viewing guide reports that One Piece is available on Crunchyroll, but catalog coverage, subtitles, dubs, and licensing differ by country and can change. Search the service for the episode number you need, verify that the listing is an episode rather than a special or recap, and check your local availability before relying on it as your only source.
If you switch to the manga, begin at the chapter corresponding to the last canon episode you watched. Episode-to-chapter alignment can vary because the anime sometimes adapts a partial chapter or rearranges scenes, so use a current episode/chapter cross-reference rather than assuming that an episode number equals a chapter number.

Why filler classifications and totals change
- The anime is ongoing: new episodes can be added or reclassified after a guide is published.
- Borderline episodes differ by database: one guide may call an episode mixed while another groups it with filler because the manga content is brief.
- Totals use different cut-off dates: the 1,168-episode and 1,180-total figures come from separate September 2026 snapshots and should not be treated as a contradiction about the story itself.
- Specials are counted differently: some catalogs separate television specials, recaps, and crossover episodes from the numbered broadcast run.
Recheck the list when you reach the current end of the anime. A practical maintenance interval is at least every 30 days, especially if you are following newly released episodes or checking streaming availability.

Common mistakes when skipping One Piece filler
Skipping every episode marked “anime-original”
This removes anime-canon episodes that may provide useful transitions or character material. Use the separate anime-canon list instead of treating every non-manga episode as identical.
Skipping mixed episodes because they contain padding
Mixed episodes are not safe whole-episode skips. Watch them, or use a scene-level guide if you want to fast-forward only the original sections.
Assuming all filler is low quality
G-8 is the clearest counterexample in this list, and the September 2026 guide also identifies smaller groups for comedy, history, character moments, and movie context.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTrusting a platform’s autoplay order
Autoplay may place specials or promotional episodes between numbered installments. Confirm the number before continuing after a skipped range.
Bottom line for a manga-story watch
Skip these pure-filler ranges: 54–60, 98–99, 102, 131–143, 196–206, 220–225, 279–283, 291–292, 303, 317–319, 326–336, 382–384, 406–407, 426–429, 457–458, 492, 542, 575–578, 590, 626–627, 747–750, 780–782, 895–896, 907, and 1029–1030. Watch the mixed episodes, treat anime-canon episodes as optional, and restore G-8 or another recommended group whenever you want the anime’s extra character and comedy material.
