Use one named pack, one exact release, and one matching server archive. The best-documented baseline for a multiplayer One Block Horror world is a Forge 1.19.2 installation running Java 17. For the Modrinth Horror OneBlock pack, allocate at least 6 GB to the client; for a small dedicated server, plan on about 6 GB and open TCP port 25565. Every player must install the same pack version and loader as the server.

Several projects use almost the same name but have different monsters, mechanics, loaders, and server files. Identify the project before downloading anything, then follow the client or dedicated-server procedure below.

What a One Block Horror modpack is

One Block worlds begin in the void on a single regenerating block. As the block is broken, it returns as a different block or loot phase, gradually unlocking resources, mobs, biomes, dimensions, automation, and bosses. The underlying One Block mod describes the loop as: “You spawn in the void on a single block. Break it, and it comes back — as something else.”

A horror pack adds pressure to that progression instead of making the island a peaceful resource generator. Depending on the project, survival can involve sanity, temperature, stamina, light levels, hallucinations, scripted threats, or named “dweller” creatures. The result is a compact multiplayer challenge: there is little terrain to explore, but every new phase can introduce a dangerous mob or event.

Which One Block Horror pack should you install?

Do not treat similarly named listings as interchangeable. Select the project first, record its Minecraft version, loader, and release number, and download both client and server files from that same project.

Project Minecraft and loader Horror style Client/server notes RAM or activity figures
Horror OneBlock (Modrinth, Froggy Studio) Java Edition 1.19.2 on Forge Creatures stalk the island; sanity, temperature, stamina, and light affect survival. Hallucinations begin when sanity falls. Listed with client and server support. Runs on Oneblock by Crepi. A complete reset requires a fresh world copy. Listing says to allocate at least 6 GB in the launcher.
One Block Horror (Modrinth) Use the exact version and loader shown on its current listing. Single starting block, staged progression, new dimensions, automation, bosses, eerie sounds, unexpected threats, and a darker atmosphere. Separate project from Horror OneBlock; do not mix its files with another pack. Not stated in the supplied project description.
HORROR – One Block (dweller) (CurseForge, kamussy) Forge 1.19.2 and 1.20.1 Named threats include CANTBREATHE, Cartoon dweller, Cave dweller, From the fog, Goatman, Him/Herobrine, Paranormal activity, The anomaly, The boiled one, The end of herobrine, The knocker, and Whispering spirits. Use the server files for the selected Minecraft release; a 1.19.2 client cannot join a 1.20.1 server. Listing recommends 8 GB system RAM and 4 GB allocated RAM. It recorded 681,556 downloads in the 2026 listing; its latest 1.19.2 release was updated October 13, 2026.
One Block Horror (CurseForge, Zokaritas) Forge 1.19.2 only Horror monsters stalk players at night; torches must be lit with a matchbox and can go out, and sleeping is impossible. Provides a separate oneblockhorror-serverfiles-1.3.zip. Do not substitute a client archive for this server package. It recorded 995,691 downloads in the 2024 listing.

The download counts are project-listing snapshots, not a measure of compatibility or quality. Version, loader, and the availability of a matching server archive matter more for a multiplayer installation.

Recommended baseline for a reproducible server

If you want the clearest path described here, use the Forge 1.19.2 release of Horror OneBlock or another explicitly documented Forge 1.19.2 project, and keep the client and dedicated-server archives from that same release. The CurseForge dweller project is also viable, but you must decide whether you are running its 1.19.2 or 1.20.1 branch before installing Forge.

How to install One Block Horror on a client

These steps apply to a Java Edition player joining a local world or a dedicated server. The exact launcher labels vary, but the required version and loader do not.

  1. Choose and record the release. Write down the project name, Minecraft version, Forge version, and pack version. For the documented baseline, those are Minecraft 1.19.2 and Forge 1.19.2.
  2. Install Minecraft Java Edition. Sign in to the official launcher or a supported modpack application and install the matching Forge profile. Do not let the launcher silently select a different Minecraft version.
  3. Install the complete client pack. Import the client archive or install the listed release through your modpack application. A server-files archive is not a playable client installation.
  4. Allocate memory before launching. For Modrinth Horror OneBlock, set the launcher allocation to at least 6 GB, as its listing specifies. The dweller project separately lists 4 GB allocated and 8 GB total system RAM; those figures apply to that project and should not be generalized to every pack.
  5. Launch once without extras. Start the pack and wait for the title screen. This confirms that Forge, the Java runtime, and the required mods load before shaders, HUD overlays, or texture changes introduce another variable.
  6. Create a new world when the pack requires it. One Block progression is stored in the world. The Horror OneBlock listing says a full reset needs a fresh world copy; deleting or replacing only a few region files may leave progression data behind.
  7. Join the server only after versions match. Compare the complete pack version and Minecraft/Forge version with the server administrator. A visually similar pack or a different patch release is not a safe substitute.

Client-only additions

Install optional shaders, HUDs, and other client-only enhancements on each player’s computer, not in the dedicated server’s mods folder. If an optional mod changes gameplay or adds blocks, mobs, dimensions, or server-side configuration, treat it as part of the pack and install the identical file for every player instead.

How much RAM does One Block Horror need?

Separate allocated memory from physical system memory. Allocating 6 GB means the Java process can use up to that amount; it does not mean the computer has only 6 GB in total. Leave enough RAM for the operating system, the launcher, voice chat, and other applications.

Use case Documented figure How to interpret it
Modrinth Horror OneBlock client At least 6 GB launcher allocation Use this as the starting point for the Forge 1.19.2 client; increase only if profiling shows a need and the computer has spare physical RAM.
CurseForge HORROR – One Block (dweller) 4 GB allocated; 8 GB system RAM These are the project listing’s minimum recommended figures for that pack, not a universal requirement.
Small dedicated server 6 GB recommended The hosting setup guidance treats 6 GB as a small-group baseline for the Forge 1.19.2 workflow.
Five to ten players 8 GB recommended The hosting guidance recommends moving to 8 GB for this group size; automation and mob farms can still require tuning.

If the game stutters while the memory graph is not near its limit, adding RAM may not help. Reduce view or simulation distance, check for runaway farms and chunk loaders, and watch server tick time. A void island has little terrain to pregenerate, but machines, item transport, chunk loaders, and mob farms can create substantial ongoing work.

One Block Horror server setup (Forge 1.19.2)

The dedicated server must use the server-files archive made for the exact client pack and release. The client zip for a modpack application usually contains a manifest and client metadata; it is not a runnable server and does not replace the official server package.

Server requirements

  • Minecraft Java Edition server files for the selected pack and release.
  • Forge 1.19.2 for the documented baseline.
  • Java 17 installed on the server machine.
  • About 6 GB of server heap for a small group; plan for 8 GB for five to ten players according to the hosting guidance.
  • A reachable TCP port, normally 25565, allowed by the host firewall and forwarded by the router when the server is behind NAT.
  • The same modpack version on every client.

Install the files

  1. Download the dedicated server archive. Use the project’s server-files download on its files page. For the Zokaritas project, the named archive is oneblockhorror-serverfiles-1.3.zip. For another project, use only the archive explicitly marked for its release.
  2. Create a clean server directory. Extract the archive into a new folder rather than merging it with an unrelated Forge or vanilla server. Keep the original archive as a recovery copy.
  3. Install Java 17 and verify it. Run the following command from a terminal in the server environment:
java -version

The output should identify Java 17. If it reports another major version or the command is unavailable, fix the Java installation or the service’s Java path before continuing.

  1. Install Forge when the archive requires it. If the server package includes a Forge installer rather than an already-installed server, run:
java -jar forge-installer.jar --installServer

Use the actual installer filename supplied with the selected release. Do not download a Forge build for a different Minecraft version.

  1. Start once to generate files. Run the supplied start script or the server command included in the archive. The first run normally creates eula.txt and the world/configuration directories before stopping.
  2. Accept the EULA. Open eula.txt, change the value to eula=true, save it, and start the server again. Only the server operator can accept the agreement; every player should follow the applicable Minecraft terms independently.
  3. Set the Java heap. Edit the provided start script’s memory flags to match the chosen pack and group. Use about 6 GB for a small group, or the documented 8 GB target for five to ten players. Keep operating-system memory free; assigning nearly all physical RAM can make the machine unstable.
  4. Open the network path. Allow inbound TCP 25565 in the host firewall and forward TCP 25565 from the router to the server’s local address when necessary. Players outside the local network connect using the public address and port supplied by the administrator.
  5. Test locally, then remotely. Join from the server machine or local network first. After the server reaches a stable tick rate, have one remote player test the forwarded port before inviting the whole group.

Keep the server and clients identical

Copying only the world folder is not enough. The server’s mod jars, configuration files, Forge build, Minecraft version, and pack release must correspond to what each player runs. Back up the world and configuration directory before changing versions. Update the server and clients as a coordinated change, and retain the previous files until the new release has been tested.

Playing One Block Horror with friends

Decide who owns the world, who can restart the process, and who has access to backups before beginning. The player who creates or administers the server should keep the original server archive, Java version information, start script, and a dated backup of the world.

  • access new mini games and game modes through servers

Suggested first-session procedure

  1. Have every player install and launch the same pack locally so missing mods are discovered before connecting.
  2. Start the server with no optional client-only additions in its mods folder.
  3. Confirm that one player can break the starting block and that the replacement block, progression phase, and horror mechanics behave normally.
  4. Invite the rest of the group and agree on a safe area for shared storage, beds or spawn protection where the selected pack permits them, and emergency supplies.
  5. Take a backup before major progression milestones, dimension travel, or configuration edits.

The exact horror rules differ by project. In Horror OneBlock, sanity, temperature, stamina, and light are survival variables, and low sanity can trigger hallucinations. In the Zokaritas pack, torches require a matchbox, may go out, and sleeping is impossible. Treat these as pack-specific mechanics rather than assumptions about every One Block release.

Troubleshooting Forge 1.19.2 One Block servers

Symptom Likely cause Fix
Server exits immediately after launch Wrong Java major version, incomplete Forge installation, or a missing EULA acceptance. Run java -version and confirm Java 17; rerun the supplied Forge installer if required; inspect eula.txt and set eula=true.
“Incompatible mod” or Forge handshake error Client and server use different pack releases, Minecraft versions, Forge builds, or mod jars. Compare the complete file list and version labels. Reinstall the client or server from one release instead of copying individual jars between projects.
Client cannot connect to the address TCP 25565 is blocked, not forwarded, or the wrong address was shared. Allow the port through the host firewall, forward it to the server’s local IP, and test locally before testing from outside the network.
Server starts but players experience lag Heap pressure, automation, chunk loaders, mob farms, or excessive simulation distance. Check memory and tick time, reduce view/simulation distance, pause heavy farms, and remove unnecessary chunk loaders. A mostly void world does not eliminate entity and machine load.
World appears reset or progression is missing Players joined a different save, or a reset was attempted without the pack’s required fresh-world procedure. Stop the server, verify the world name and backup, and restore the correct save. For Horror OneBlock, use a fresh world copy for a full reset.
Server fails after adding a shader, HUD, or visual mod A client-only mod was placed on the dedicated server. Remove it from the server’s mods folder and install it only on players’ clients, unless the mod documentation explicitly requires server installation.

Backups, updates, and safe resets

Back up before every version change

Stop the server cleanly, copy the entire world directory, and preserve the matching configuration and mod list. Name backups with the pack and release, such as horror-oneblock-1.19.2-before-update-2026-10-15. A world backup without its configuration may not restore the same progression rules.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not mix releases during an update

Update the server archive, Forge build, configuration, and every client as one planned change. Test the updated copy separately when possible. If a player receives a missing-mod or registry error, return to the last known matching set rather than deleting random jars.

Reset deliberately

A new One Block world is the reliable way to restart progression. Preserve the old save as an archive, create the new world through the pack’s normal procedure, and confirm that the starting block and horror mechanics load before inviting the group.

Practical selection checklist

  • Project name matches on the client and server download.
  • Minecraft version and Forge loader are identical.
  • Release number is recorded before installation.
  • Dedicated server archive is used instead of a client manifest.
  • Java 17 is installed and confirmed with java -version.
  • Client allocation follows the selected project’s published figure.
  • Server heap is sized for the group, with roughly 6 GB for a small group and 8 GB for five to ten players in the documented setup.
  • TCP 25565 is allowed and forwarded where required.
  • Optional client-only mods are absent from the server.
  • A clean world backup exists before updates or resets.

Recommended setup in one sentence

For the least ambiguous multiplayer path, install the same Forge 1.19.2 release of one named One Block Horror project on every client, allocate at least 6 GB where that project specifies it, run its dedicated server files on Java 17 with about 6 GB for a small group, accept the EULA, expose TCP 25565, and never mix archives from similarly named projects.
