On Air 2026 is a student-led, 24-hour broadcast scheduled for 22–23 October 2026, with the University of Westminster’s Harrow Media Campus serving as its production hub. Led by Media Talent Manifesto (MTM), the planned event spans five channels—Culture, News, Sport, Film, and Kids—and gives students responsibility across editorial and technical production. The University of Westminster announced the event; participation figures published ahead of the broadcast are projections, not final counts.
What is On Air 2026?
On Air is a global student broadcast organized by Media Talent Manifesto, with the University of Westminster hosting the central production operation at its Harrow Media Campus. The 2026 edition is planned as a 24-hour, multi-channel production that brings students and educators together with media professionals.
The aim is practical as well as presentational: students are expected to take on real editorial and production work, while educational institutions contribute programming and collaborate across locations. The event’s organizers describe the broadcast as an opportunity for students to work for an audience beyond their own campus.

For context, the University of Westminster reported that the 2025 inaugural broadcast involved more than 1,000 students and collaborators worldwide. That is a figure for the earlier edition; it should not be read as a 2026 result.
What are the five channels?
The planned channel lineup groups student programming into five broad areas. Institutions can contribute live or pre-recorded material, according to Weston College’s account of its students’ participation.

That range offers several ways to participate, from shaping a story or presenting it to making the programme technically ready for transmission. The published coverage does not provide a definitive role allocation by institution, so it does not establish that every participant—or every school—will take on each type of work.
How does the global production work?
Westminster is the central production hub, while educational institutions across six continents are described as contributing to the wider event. Contributions may be live or pre-recorded, allowing work from participating organizations to feed into the multi-channel production without implying that they all operate in the same way or hold the same responsibilities.
