The Omega Altise OAPC9W is a cooling-only portable air conditioner rated at 9,000 BTU/h (2.64 kW), with a stated cooling input of 1.005 kW. Its published specifications describe a compact unit with fan and dehumidifier functions listed by retailers, but they do not establish how well it cools a particular room or how much it will cost to run. The practical buying question is whether its capacity, exhaust-window setup and available evidence suit your space.

The Australian Government Energy Rating product search lists 2.64 kW capacity and 1.00 kW input, with registry availability dated 7 July 2026. That entry is a database listing, not a consumer test. CHOICE displays rounded figures of 2.6 kW and 23 kg. For exact model specifications, the manual’s figures are the clearest reference. The manual specifies two fan speeds. Retail listings describe cool, fan and dehumidifier modes, and include a remote control and window slide/kit. Treat those as listing details rather than independent assessments of how effectively each mode performs. One retailer lists a two-year manufacturer warranty; warranty terms can change, so confirm the current coverage and conditions with the seller or manufacturer before buying. Will the window kit fit your opening?
A retailer lists a window-slide adjustment range of 650–1,200 mm, but the range alone does not guarantee a workable installation. An Andoo customer review dated 9 December 2023 says the exhaust vent obstructed the slide in the reviewer’s 750 mm window, requiring cutting. - Measure the usable opening where the window slide will sit, not just the nominal window width.
- Check that the exhaust vent and hose have clearance with the slide installed.
- Confirm the kit’s adjustment and sealing method for your specific window style before relying on the listed range.
How strong is the independent review evidence?
CHOICE includes the OAPC9W in its portable-air-conditioner review and displays selected specifications, including capacity, weight, refrigerant, window kit and remote. Its accessible listing does not show the expert rating or underlying test results; those details are member-only there. Can you estimate its electricity cost from the rating?
Not from the input figure alone. The manual’s 1.005 kW rated cooling input is a specification, not a guarantee of constant draw in every operating condition. Your cost depends on actual usage, electricity tariff and operating conditions. The government registry’s 1.00 kW figure is rounded and is not a separate bill estimate.

What should you check before buying?
- Decide whether the published 2.64 kW cooling capacity is appropriate for the room and conditions; the available sources do not establish a room-size recommendation or measured cooling performance.
- Measure the window opening and confirm clearance for the vent as well as the slide.
- Verify the included accessories, warranty terms and current price with the retailer. Prices surfaced in retailer listings ranged from about A$549 to A$575, but those figures are volatile and are not a current-price guarantee.
- Do not assume generic replacement remotes, window parts or drain components are compatible; model-specific compatibility is not established by the available listings.
