The Oliso TG1600 ProPlus stands out for its touch-activated iTouch system: touch the handle and the iron lowers; release it and built-in lifts raise it. That can make frequent pauses between pressing tasks easier, but it is not a guarantee against scorching or injury. Oliso’s US specifications and feature list make the iron a plausible fit for quilters and sewists who want a detail tip and several steam options. The available independent listing does not reveal enough test results to establish how it performs against competing irons.
How the iTouch auto-lift system works
Oliso’s iTouch system responds to contact with the handle. When you hold the handle, the iron lowers onto the soleplate; when you let go, the iron’s lifts raise it. This is the TG1600 ProPlus’s defining feature and may suit work that involves repeatedly setting the iron down, such as pressing seams while sewing or quilting.
The lift system changes how the iron rests between passes; it does not make a hot iron risk-free. Follow the instructions for your specific model, keep the iron away from children, and unplug it when you are finished.

Oliso announced the ProPlus on April 16, 2021, as an upgrade to the TG1600. The company said it revised the soleplate, steam system, scale management, weight distribution, and auto-lift responsiveness. Oliso also lists a diamond ceramic-flow soleplate with a two-inch detailer tip, selectable fabric settings, built-in spray, an anti-drip system, and “triple-play” steam for vertical and horizontal use. The company describes anti-calc technology as part of the ProPlus update. Regional listings are not interchangeable
The accessible CHOICE listing is for an Australian-market version and displays 2000–2400 W, a 3.8 m cord, a one-year warranty, and a price of A$370. Those are listing details for that market, not universal TG1600 ProPlus specifications or a current price guarantee. Do not use them to replace the US figures above when evaluating a US model. Who may find this iron useful
Quilters and sewists
The auto-lift workflow is relevant when pressing is interspersed with arranging fabric or handling a project. Oliso specifically markets the iron to quilters and sewists, and the narrow detailer tip is intended to help with small areas and seams. Whether that workflow is worth paying for depends on how often you pause and whether you prefer an iron that lifts when you release its handle.
General garment ironing
The listed horizontal and vertical steam modes, fabric settings, spray, and anti-drip system cover common ironing functions. The product information does not establish how effectively the iron removes particular wrinkles or how it compares in steam output, heating consistency, or long-term reliability.

Shoppers outside the US
Check the exact regional model before buying. Voltage, wattage, cord length, and warranty terms shown for the US and Australian listings differ. Use the product documentation and retailer listing for the country where you will operate the iron rather than assuming the US specifications apply.
Shutoff, care, and safe use
Oliso’s troubleshooting document says the TG1600 shuts off after 30 minutes when left untouched horizontally or vertically, and after 30 seconds when tilted. These are the manufacturer’s stated automatic shutoff intervals; do not treat them as a substitute for unplugging the iron when it is not in use.

- Oliso advises unplugging the iron when it is not in use and emptying the water tank.
- The support document says not to use 100% distilled water. If water is left in the iron, Oliso advises keeping the legs raised.
- For operation, cleaning, and maintenance, follow the manual for your product generation and regional model. Do not treat general troubleshooting advice as a repair procedure.

How to decide whether it is worth considering
- Consider it if: the handle-triggered lift fits your work rhythm, you press seams or small areas often, and the specifications for your local version suit your workspace and electrical supply.
- Look elsewhere if: you do not want an auto-lift workflow, need independently published comparative scores before choosing, or your local version’s specifications or warranty do not match your requirements.
- Before purchase: verify the model and regional variant, voltage, cord length, tank capacity, warranty terms, and the manual that applies to that version.
