OLED monitor shipments rose sharply year over year in the first half of 2026, and 27-inch QHD models emerged as the market’s dominant segment. But “OLED monitor” now covers very different panel types, sizes, refresh rates and product statuses: some models are available, others are announced for later, and some remain prototypes. The clearest way to understand the market is to separate shipment trends from product choice—and to check local availability before treating any announcement as a product you can buy.
How fast is the OLED monitor market growing?
TrendForce reported global OLED monitor shipments down 11% quarter over quarter in Q1 2026, but up 78% year over year. It described the sequential dip as seasonal, following promotions in Q4 2025 that pulled demand forward. In Q2, shipments rose 26.1% quarter over quarter and 98% year over year. TrendForce linked that increase to new models, China’s 618 shopping festival and continued promotion of 27-inch QHD monitors. TrendForce’s Q2 2026 release and Q1 2026 release show why the comparison period matters: Q1’s sequential decline did not mean shipments were falling year over year.
For a broader supply picture, Omdia forecast 38.8 million large-area OLED shipments in 2026, up 18.8% year over year. That figure covers large-area OLED applications overall, not monitors alone. Omdia identified monitors and notebook PCs as important growth drivers and described Korean manufacturers shifting some Gen 8.5 fabrication capacity from TV displays toward monitors. This is a forecast, not a final full-year result. Omdia’s July 2026 forecast provides the category scope and context.
Which OLED monitor formats are defining the market?
27-inch QHD: the mainstream reference point
TrendForce identified 27-inch QHD as the dominant OLED monitor segment in Q2 2026. It is a useful baseline when comparing the market, not a universal recommendation. A smaller QHD display may suit a compact desk or a player prioritizing frame rates, while users seeking more workspace or detail may prefer 32-inch 4K or an ultrawide format—provided their graphics hardware and viewing distance make sense for that choice.

4K, ultrawide and high-refresh options
The 2026 lineup spans QHD, 4K and ultrawide screens, with different refresh-rate strategies. Some models focus on high resolution; others target esports speed or offer multiple resolution-and-refresh modes. Compare the refresh rate at the resolution you intend to use: a headline maximum may apply only in a lower-resolution mode. A 2026 OLED monitor roundup lists examples across these formats, but product status and specifications should be checked against the manufacturer’s current regional listing.
QD-OLED and WOLED: what should buyers compare?
QD-OLED and WOLED are both represented in the market; the OLED label alone does not tell you how a specific monitor performs. For desktop work, especially small text, check independent measurements of the exact model and its subpixel arrangement rather than assuming one panel family is always sharper. The same model-specific approach applies to glare and room lighting: review its coating and independent reflection testing instead of generalizing across all OLED screens.

- Sweeping visuals and color: Evolve your field of view with WQHD and an 1800R curve, combined with QD-OLED's incredible color range and clarity that easily immerses you in any world.
- Colorful clarity: Experience the full spectrum of color as intended with DCI-P3 99.3% color coverage and Delta E<2 color accuracy.
- Vast visuals: See every detail with VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 400, 1000 nits peak HDR brightness and infinite contrast ratio.
- Unrivaled speed: Adaptive sync technologies like NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and VESA AdaptiveSync make games feel effortlessly smooth.
- Text and close-up work: Look for model-specific text clarity evidence and inspect the subpixel layout.
- HDR: Check the measurement conditions. Peak brightness measured over a small screen area is not the same as sustained full-screen brightness.
- Bright rooms: Confirm the particular monitor’s surface treatment and review reflection performance under relevant conditions.
- Desk connections: Verify the exact USB-C power delivery, DisplayPort version, built-in hub and stand or mounting features you need.
These factors vary between products, so a broad QD-OLED-versus-WOLED verdict is not established by the market data. The 2026 model roundup can help identify models to investigate; its specifications and availability are a starting point, not a substitute for current manufacturer details or independent testing.

What is available now—and what is only announced?
A product launch announcement does not establish that a monitor is in stock in your country. The 2026 landscape includes shipping models as well as later launches and prototypes. For example, a September 2, 2026 report said Dell had announced the Alienware AW3226Q, a 32-inch 4K 165 Hz RGB-stripe Tandem OLED expected in fall 2026, and the AW2527HX, a 24.5-inch 560 Hz monitor expected in Q1 2027. The report said prices had not been announced at that time. These are dated expectations, not confirmation of current retail availability; check the latest regional listing. Tom’s Hardware’s announcement coverage also reported a three-year OLED pixel burn-in warranty for those two models; confirm the written warranty terms for your country before relying on them.

Samsung’s 2026 Odyssey announcement described three Odyssey G8 models and an OLED G7 as additions intended to broaden its lineup. The same company announcement reported a 26% share of OLED gaming monitors and leadership for a third consecutive year, attributing those figures to IDC. Treat that as Samsung’s account of IDC data, not as an independently verified newsroom market measurement. Samsung’s UK announcement includes the company’s claim and product context.
Earlier development milestones show how quickly monitor specifications have evolved. LG Display’s Q1 2026 company filing recounts products including a 27-inch QHD 540 Hz OLED monitor with dual-frequency/resolution functionality and dual-resolution models. That filing is company-reported historical context, not an independent evaluation of those products. LG Display’s investor reference room provides the filing source.

- Center of Vision: At 26.5-inches, the X27U is directly in your field of view. Considered a hallmark of eSports tournaments, this is the perfect size to gain an edge over your opponents. The addition of a ZeroFrame design also removes the bezels – giving you have even more visibly over every match and every movement your rivals make.
How to assess an OLED monitor for your needs
- Choose the screen format first. Use 27-inch QHD as a market reference, then compare it with 32-inch 4K or ultrawide options based on desk space, viewing distance and the graphics performance you have.
- Match refresh rate to resolution. Check the mode that delivers the advertised maximum and decide whether you value high-resolution play, a faster esports mode or a monitor that supports more than one configuration.
- Check model-specific image characteristics. For text, HDR, reflections and bright-room performance, use independent measurements of the exact monitor rather than relying on panel-family generalizations.
- Confirm the connections and fit. Verify the ports, USB-C charging, hub, stand and mounting support against your setup.
- Read the regional warranty. OLED burn-in coverage varies by product, brand and market; confirm what the written terms actually cover.
- Verify status and local terms. Check whether the product is shipping, available for preorder, announced for a later date or still a prototype. Confirm current local stock, price and warranty before deciding.
There is no established global average retail price or universal price floor in the cited market data, and prices and availability require a fresh country-specific check. The evidence also does not establish a settled full-year 2026 monitor shipment result or a universal ranking of QD-OLED against WOLED.
