PlayStation Plus gets an unusually broad October 2026 lineup on October 20: Horizon Forbidden West, Mafia: The Old Country and day-one co-op shooter Mycopunk headline the Game Catalog. Premium members also receive two Classics additions and two game trials, while Sony’s HorrorFest promotions add limited-time extras.
“One of the service’s best months in a long time” is an editorial judgment rather than a published historical ranking. The case for it is the rare combination of a major first-party adventure, a recent crime-action release, a day-one multiplayer game, meaningful Premium content and several genres arriving together.

Horizon Forbidden West is the clearest reason many subscribers will consider October exceptional. Aloy explores a dangerous frontier populated by larger machines and new tribes, builds alliances and investigates an ancient-world mystery. Is Mafia: The Old Country worth playing?
Mafia: The Old Country targets players who prefer a focused, cinematic crime narrative. Sony describes a third-person action-adventure set in the brutal organized-crime underworld of early-20th-century Sicily. Enzo Favara’s story combines period firearms with horseback travel and turn-of-the-century motorcars, giving the game a deliberately historical setting instead of a modern urban one.
It complements Horizon rather than competing with it: choose Mafia for a directed story and crime drama; choose Horizon for open-world exploration, machine fights and a longer-form adventure.

What makes Mycopunk different?
Mycopunk launches into the catalog worldwide on October 20, making it the month’s day-one release. The PS5 mission-based looter shooter pits up to four players against fungal aliens and emphasizes repeat play through hundreds of upgrades and a large futuristic arsenal. It supplies a social, replayable option alongside two primarily single-player headliners.

The Midnight Walk
This dark-fantasy adventure uses clay animation and supports both standard PS5 play and PS VR2. Its staggered timing is October 14 in the United States and United Kingdom, followed by October 15 in Japan.

Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2
The toy-factory horror story continues on October 27 in the United States, United Kingdom and Japan, on both PS5 and PS4.
Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn Edition
The Beyond the Dawn Edition adds a substantial JRPG choice to the October 27 release group in the United States, United Kingdom and Japan.

- Open the PlayStation Store on your PS5 or PS4, or use the console’s PlayStation Plus section.
- Search for the title and confirm that your active Extra or Premium/Deluxe subscription includes it.
- Check the displayed local release date: most headline games show October 20, while The Midnight Walk, Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2, Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn Edition and Monster Energy Supercross 25 use the staggered dates listed above.
