For Oblivion Remastered on PC, press the tilde (~) key, enter a console command, and press Enter. The most useful documented commands include tgm for god mode, player.additem F [#] for gold, unlock for a targeted lock, and quest commands such as completequest [Quest ID]. Save first: Remastered warns that cheats disable achievements, and commands can produce crashes or unusual bugs.
Fin Gleam is a separate exploration tip. A Game8 guide’s accessible search excerpt places the underwater item west of Anvil Lighthouse in Remastered. That evidence does not establish a dependable item ID, the item’s effects, or an exact swimming route, so those details should not be treated as confirmed codes.
Which version these cheats cover
The documented console workflow is specifically for the PC edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. PC Gamer updated its command guide on April 25, 2025 and retested legacy commands against Remastered, marking the commands below as working examples while noting that compatibility varies by command. Bethesda’s PC controls documentation covers mouse-and-keyboard bindings; it does not establish a matching cheat-console method for a gamepad, PlayStation, or Xbox.

How to open and use the console on PC
- Make a safety save. Create a new manual save before experimenting. Keep an untouched save from before any quest, attribute, or item command.
- Use the keyboard. While playing on PC, press the tilde key (
~) to open the developer console. The key is normally near the upper-left area of a standard keyboard, but keyboard layouts and changed bindings can differ. - Enter one command. Type the command exactly, replacing bracketed values such as
[#],[attribute],[Quest ID], or[Stage]with the value you intend to use. - Submit and close the console. Press Enter to run the command, then press the tilde key again to return to the game.
- Check the result before continuing. Confirm that the item count, map state, attribute, or quest stage changed as intended. If anything looks wrong, reload the pre-command save instead of stacking more commands on top of it.
Bethesda’s default-control page is useful for checking keyboard and mouse bindings, particularly if you have changed them. It is not confirmation that a controller button opens the console.

The bracket notation is instructional, not literal. Do not type the square brackets unless the command’s syntax specifically requires them. The two quest commands are powerful enough to skip objectives or alter the order in which the game expects events to occur, so use them only with a backup save and a clearly identified quest.
Useful ways to apply the codes
Add money without changing combat or quests
Open the console and enter player.additem F [#], replacing [#] with the amount of gold you want. For example, player.additem F 500 adds 500 gold. This is a player-inventory command; it does not unlock a door, reveal a map marker, or complete a quest.

Prepare for locked containers
For ordinary lockpicking, add lockpicks with player.additem 0000000a [#]. If you want the Skeleton Key instead, use player.additem 0000000b 1. These commands are separate from unlock: the first two put tools in your inventory, while unlock acts on the object you are targeting when the command runs.
Unlock a specific object
Face the door, chest, or other lock you want to open, press ~, and enter unlock. Because the command is target-dependent, confirm that the console is acting on the intended object before closing it. If the wrong object was targeted, reload the earlier save rather than trying to repair an altered quest or container state.
Reveal or hide map markers
Use tmm 1 to turn map markers on and tmm 0 to turn them off, according to PC Gamer’s Remastered command notes. This changes map visibility; it is not the same as completing the associated location or quest.

Change an attribute cautiously
The syntax is player.setav [attribute] [#]. It changes the named attribute to the value supplied, so verify the attribute spelling and the number before pressing Enter. The command guide confirms the syntax as a working Remastered example but does not provide a universal list of safe values. A very large or inappropriate value can make the character behave unexpectedly; preserve a pre-command save.

Move a quest forward only when you know the stage
completequest [Quest ID] attempts to finish the specified quest. setstage [Quest ID] [Stage] advances it to a chosen stage instead. The latter is preferable when you are trying to bypass one blocked objective without declaring the entire quest complete, but it still requires the correct quest ID and stage. The command guide confirms both forms, not a single set of stage numbers that applies to every quest.
Toggle god mode temporarily
Enter tgm once to toggle god mode on and enter it again to toggle the mode off. Because it changes the character’s survival rules rather than adding a single item, test it in a disposable save if you want to preserve a normal-playthrough record.

Achievements and compatibility: original Oblivion versus Remastered
Do not carry the original game’s achievement behavior into Remastered. PC Gamer reports that console commands in the original game did not interfere with achievements. The Remastered warning is different: using cheats disables achievements. If achievements matter for the current playthrough, keep cheats out of that save and use a separate test character or backup branch.

The safest interpretation is command-specific: a code appearing in an old list is not automatically validated for Remastered, and a command that works on PC is not automatically available on a console edition.
Preventing and recovering from console-command problems
- Back up before every risky change. Keep a manual save from before quest, stage, attribute, and unlock commands.
- Use one command at a time. This makes it possible to identify which entry caused a visual, inventory, or quest problem.
- Verify targets. The
unlockcommand depends on the object under your cursor or crosshair; a mis-targeted object can create a confusing result. - Do not assume a silent console means success. Check the inventory, map, attribute, or quest journal after running a command.
- Reload rather than layering fixes. PC Gamer warns that commands can cause crashes or unusual bugs. If a quest stalls or the game behaves abnormally, close the console and reload the save made before the first questionable command.
- Separate achievement play from experimentation. Since Remastered disables achievements when cheats are used, maintain a clean save for normal progression.
Where to find Fin Gleam
The currently supported location clue is concise: Game8’s accessible search-result excerpt says Fin Gleam is found underwater west of Anvil Lighthouse in Oblivion Remastered. That gives you a starting area, not a complete route with coordinates.

A practical search plan
- Travel to Anvil and identify the lighthouse on the local map or in the world.
- Move west from the lighthouse toward the water.
- Search underwater in that western area, checking the seabed and nearby objects rather than assuming the item is on the shoreline.
- If you cannot locate it, widen the search gradually around the lighthouse’s western side and consult the game’s map to keep your position consistent.
The available evidence does not verify Fin Gleam’s exact item ID, effects, depth, distance from the lighthouse, or a precise series of turns and swimming landmarks. Do not substitute a remembered code from the 2006 release or another item list. The original PC manual inspected for this topic does not mention Fin Gleam, so it cannot confirm those missing details.
PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and edition cautions
The tilde-key procedure and commands in this guide are PC instructions. Bethesda’s controls page documents default mouse-and-keyboard controls for Remastered PC, while the available evidence does not establish a console-command interface for PlayStation or Xbox. A gamepad may let you play the PC version, but that does not prove that a controller button opens the developer console.
Bethesda announced a physical Remastered Deluxe Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X. The package includes a disc that grants access to the base game, a code for digital extras, and an additional download for the game. Bethesda describes the release as limited while supplies last and available through select regional stores, so local availability, pricing, region, and download requirements must be checked with the retailer. The Deluxe Edition is not required for the PC console commands or for searching for Fin Gleam.
