Oakley Meta HSTN glasses combine HSTN-style Oakley eyewear with a hands-free camera, open-ear speakers, touch and voice controls, and Meta AI features. They need a compatible smartphone, internet access, a Meta account, and the Meta AI app to operate. Oakley and Meta describe camera, audio, and AI functions—not an in-lens display.
What are Oakley Meta HSTN glasses?
Oakley Meta HSTN is a collaboration between Oakley and Meta, built around Oakley’s HSTN eyewear style. It is a pair of camera-and-audio smart glasses intended for hands-free capture and listening, with voice and touch controls and Meta AI features. Meta introduced the product as eyewear for athletes and fans in its June 20, 2025 launch announcement.
The official descriptions do not identify a screen or augmented-reality overlays in the lenses. In practical terms, the glasses capture photos and video, play sound through speakers near the ears, and connect to the phone and app for supported features.
What can Oakley Meta HSTN do?
- Capture: Take photos and record video hands-free. Meta gives “Hey Meta, take a video” as an example voice command.
- Play audio and handle calls: Built-in open-ear speakers support music, podcasts, and calls.
- Use voice and touch controls: Control supported functions and interact with Meta AI by voice, with touch controls also available.
- Manage and share captures: The Meta AI app manages settings and supports importing and sharing photos and videos.
For one specific US configuration, Oakley lists a 12 MP camera, two custom open-ear speakers, a custom five-microphone array, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and 32 GB of flash storage. Its published capture figures are 3024 × 4032 pixels for images and up to 2203 × 2938 pixels at 30 frames per second for video. These are the specifications for Oakley’s listed model OW8002-0351, not independent test results; other configurations may differ. See the Oakley US product listing.

What do you need to use them?
Oakley’s US listing says setup and operation require a smartphone running Android 10 or later or iOS 14.4 or later, wireless internet, a valid Meta account, and the Meta AI app. Oakley directs customers to its supported-phone list, so check that list for your specific device before buying.
Available AI features vary by country and language. Oakley says full voice commands are available only in English, French, Spanish, and Italian. Support for one function or language does not necessarily mean every Meta AI feature is available in that market.

Battery life depends on how the glasses are used and configured, so the published figures are estimates rather than guaranteed runtimes.
