Agility Robotics says Nyobolt will supply the fast-recharge battery system for its Digit 5 humanoid robot. The announced design targets 90 minutes of operation followed by a nine-minute recharge, a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio intended to keep industrial robots productive across more than two shifts.
What Agility Robotics and Nyobolt announced
On October 15, 2026, Agility Robotics named Nyobolt as the battery technology provider for Digit 5, the company’s next-generation humanoid robot for industrial work. The battery system is intended for manufacturing, warehousing and distribution environments where a robot that spends long periods charging is difficult to justify economically.
Daniel Diez, Agility’s chief business officer, described uptime as the business case for customers. Nyobolt co-founder and CEO Sai Shivareddy said the technology was selected because Digit 5 needs more power from a smaller, lighter pack while operating in settings where reliability is essential. The announcement does not disclose the battery chemistry, cell configuration, pack capacity or charging hardware.

The 10:1 ratio is the headline improvement over Digit 4, for which Agility cites a 2:1 run-to-charge ratio. It does not mean Digit 5 can work continuously for 20 hours on one charge; the robot would need repeated charging cycles. The stated benefit is that each short charging break should consume much less of a shift than a conventional recharge schedule.

Why the battery matters for industrial robots
In a warehouse or factory, charging time affects labor planning, robot utilization and the number of machines needed to cover a task. A nine-minute recharge can fit into handoffs, replenishment pauses or scheduled downtime more easily than a longer session. Agility says the resulting system is designed to support more than two shifts of productive work in a 24-hour period.
That claim is an operating target, not an independently measured endurance result. Actual productive time will depend on walking distance, payload, manipulation tasks, speed, temperature, charging infrastructure, software behavior and how often operators interrupt the robot. The companies have not published an independent test report for the Digit 5 battery.

What Digit 5 is intended to do
Digit 5 is aimed at cooperatively safe work alongside people in manufacturing, warehousing and distribution. The battery announcement focuses on keeping the robot available for those workflows rather than presenting a consumer product.
Agility’s 2026 materials also cite up to 50 pounds (22.7 kilograms) of repeated lifting capacity for its robot platform. That figure is separate from the battery announcement and should not be read as a measurement of recharge performance. Agility says earlier Digit robots have accumulated more than 65,000 hours of operational time, while the company reported more than $300 million in multi-year customer orders as of May 2026. Those figures indicate commercial interest, but they do not establish Digit 5’s final deployment volume or field reliability.

Digit 5 versus Digit 4 on charging
The clearest published comparison is the run-to-charge ratio:
- Digit 5: 10:1, based on 90 minutes of runtime and nine minutes of charging.
- Digit 4: 2:1, according to Agility’s comparison.
The announcement does not provide equivalent Digit 4 runtime and recharge minutes, so the ratio is the only direct charging comparison supported by the companies’ statement. It also does not establish comparative payload, safety-system or environmental test results for the two generations.

When Digit 5 will be available
Agility expects an early-access program in the first half of 2027. The company says broader availability should follow over the next six to nine months and separately describes general availability as an end-of-2027 expectation.

These dates are forward-looking targets rather than firm delivery commitments. They can change with validation, manufacturing scale-up, battery supply, customer qualification and regulatory or site requirements. Organizations considering a deployment will need to verify the program scope, geography, integration requirements, service arrangements and delivery schedule directly with Agility.

Is Nyobolt’s battery available to consumers?
The announcement presents Nyobolt’s technology as an integrated enterprise component for Digit 5. It does not announce a consumer battery pack, a retail product, a standalone charger or a consumer purchase channel. A company’s role as an industrial technology provider therefore should not be interpreted as evidence that the same battery is available for personal devices or home energy storage.
What remains unknown
- The battery’s chemistry, nominal energy capacity, voltage and pack weight.
- The charging connector, power requirement and whether charging equipment is supplied with each robot.
- Cycle-life, thermal-management and performance results under warehouse or factory conditions.
- Whether the 90-minute runtime applies to a specific payload, task mix or test environment.
- Final purchase terms, service-level agreements and regional delivery dates.
Agility and Nyobolt include forward-looking-risk language with the announcement, warning that actual performance, economics, supply and availability may differ from expectations. Until third-party testing or field data is published, the nine-minute recharge and more-than-20-hour workday should be treated as company-stated targets for the planned Digit 5 system.
