NVIDIA’s October 13, 2026 NVIDIA app beta adds Preset C, a Frame Generation Performance Mode that swaps one of DLSS Frame Generation’s two AI models for a faster, lighter optical-flow algorithm. NVIDIA says it can make Frame Generation up to 35% faster on a GeForce RTX 5060, while acknowledging minor image-quality trade-offs. That figure is NVIDIA’s claim for one GPU—not a guaranteed improvement across every supported card or game.
What Preset C changes
NVIDIA describes DLSS Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation as using two AI models. One uses game data such as motion vectors and depth to understand how objects move between rendered frames. The second calculates optical flow for elements such as user-interface graphics and ray-traced effects.
Preset C replaces that second model with what NVIDIA calls a faster, lighter algorithm. The mode is available for DLSS Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation. NVIDIA’s announcement does not explain the algorithm in further technical detail or quantify its image-quality trade-off. NVIDIA’s October 13, 2026 announcement characterizes the trade-off as minor.
How much faster is it?
NVIDIA says Preset C is “up to 35% faster” on a GeForce RTX 5060. Treat that as the company’s maximum stated result for that named GPU, not as a result established for all supported hardware or a promise of a fixed uplift in a particular game.
#1 Best Overall
- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
The announcement does not provide a test methodology or results broken down by game and GPU. VideoCardz also notes the absence of detailed comparisons across other GPUs and games in its coverage of the beta feature. The available figures therefore do not establish how much faster Preset C will be on an RTX 40 Series card, another RTX 50 Series model, or a specific game.
Supported GPUs and feature status
NVIDIA lists GeForce RTX 40 Series and RTX 50 Series GPUs, as well as RTX Spark laptops, as supported. Preset C was introduced through an NVIDIA app beta update; it is not presented in the announcement as a setting available through the regular app release. NVIDIA’s compatibility and menu labels may change in later app updates.

How to enable Preset C in the NVIDIA app beta
- Install the newest NVIDIA app beta update.
- Open Settings > About, opt in to beta or experimental features, and install the update if the app prompts you.
- Open Graphics. Select a supported game that uses Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, or Dynamic Frame Generation, or select Global Settings.
- Under Driver Settings, open DLSS Override – Model Presets.
- Select Custom, choose Preset C from the Frame Generation dropdown, and click Apply.
If Preset C or the listed game does not appear, check that the beta update is installed and that you are configuring a supported GPU and feature. The beta setting may not be exposed for every game or configuration; NVIDIA’s announcement does not provide a complete game-by-game compatibility list.

What to weigh before switching
- Potential speed benefit: NVIDIA reports up to 35% faster performance on an RTX 5060, but does not establish a comparable uplift on other cards or in every game.
- Image quality: NVIDIA acknowledges minor trade-offs but does not quantify them or specify which visual artifacts to expect. Compare the result in your own games rather than assuming the trade-off will be invisible.
- Reversibility: Preset C is an override in the NVIDIA app beta. You can return to the prior model-preset choice through the same settings if the image quality is not acceptable.
