Choose an RTX Spark notebook by memory capacity first. RTX Spark systems use an NVIDIA Grace CPU and integrated Blackwell RTX GPU that share one pool of LPDDR5X memory. The highest laptop tier supports up to 128 GB, while the lower tier is listed with up to 32 GB. That memory is fixed at purchase in the platform documentation, so buying the right capacity matters more than planning a later RAM upgrade.
After memory, compare the exact notebook’s sustained performance, display, ports, battery target, SSD serviceability, weight and price. NVIDIA specifies a 45–80 W laptop power envelope, but that figure is not a temperature, fan-noise or throttling test. Chassis design and firmware will determine how an individual model behaves.
What an RTX Spark notebook is
RTX Spark is NVIDIA’s notebook platform for Windows 11 on Arm. It combines a Grace CPU with an integrated Blackwell RTX GPU rather than pairing a conventional mobile processor with a separate graphics chip and its own dedicated graphics memory. CPU work, graphics rendering and AI workloads all draw from the same LPDDR5X pool.

The platform is aimed at people who want to run AI models locally, create large scenes, edit video, play games and use ordinary Windows applications in a relatively thin system. NVIDIA describes the design as power-efficient for slim, all-day-battery notebooks. Those are design goals and vendor claims; they do not replace independent measurements of a particular model.

NVIDIA announced RTX Spark laptop families from ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft and MSI on October 16, 2026. Announced starting prices begin at $2,599, while the final price depends on country, memory tier, display and storage configuration.
How much VRAM does an RTX Spark laptop have?
RTX Spark does not have a conventional fixed VRAM number such as 8 GB or 16 GB of dedicated GDDR. NVIDIA’s specification calls the memory type Unified: the CPU and Blackwell GPU access the same LPDDR5X pool. A high-tier configuration can contain up to 128 GB of unified memory, and graphics or AI allocations come from that shared capacity.
That does not make 128 GB of unified memory equivalent to 128 GB of dedicated GPU VRAM. The operating system, CPU processes, GPU resources and model weights compete for the pool. Available capacity changes with the workload, and the memory has different behavior from a discrete graphics card’s dedicated GDDR subsystem. Treat 128 GB as total system memory that can be used flexibly, not as a promise that an application can reserve all 128 GB for graphics.

NVIDIA’s Windows-on-Arm documentation describes a 256-bit memory interface and up to 300 GB/s of bandwidth for the documented configuration. Bandwidth helps feed the GPU and keep AI model data moving, but capacity and bandwidth solve different problems: a model that does not fit cannot be made resident by higher bandwidth, while a large pool does not guarantee the same throughput as a discrete GPU with a different memory design.
What the memory means for AI
For local inference, the practical question is whether model weights, runtime overhead and the active context fit in memory without constant swapping. NVIDIA’s developer guidance identifies capacity, bandwidth and keeping weights resident as key constraints. Larger unified-memory configurations therefore offer more headroom for larger models, longer contexts and multitasking, but software support and the model’s quantization still affect results.
RTX Spark laptop tiers compared
NVIDIA lists two broad laptop tiers. Individual manufacturers can combine them with different screens, batteries, cooling systems and storage, so use this table to identify the silicon and memory class rather than as a guarantee of notebook-wide performance.
| Laptop tier | CPU and GPU | Unified memory | Laptop power | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| High tier | 20-core Grace CPU and 6,144-core Blackwell RTX GPU | Up to 128 GB LPDDR5X | 45–80 W | Local AI, large creative scenes and heavier multitasking |
| Lower tier | 18-core Grace CPU and 5,120-core Blackwell RTX GPU | Up to 32 GB in NVIDIA’s specification table | 45–80 W | General creation, lighter AI and portability-sensitive buyers |
NVIDIA’s consumer product presentation also shows a 64 GB maximum for one laptop configuration. The safe interpretation is that the platform reaches up to 128 GB on the highest configuration, not that every RTX Spark notebook offers 128 GB. Check the exact OEM SKU, memory amount and processor/GPU tier before ordering.

NVIDIA quotes up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance. This is a vendor-supplied peak figure, not a universal application benchmark. Real inference speed depends on model architecture, quantization, framework support, memory pressure, power settings and sustained cooling.
Is RTX Spark memory shared between the CPU and GPU?
Yes. The Grace CPU and integrated Blackwell RTX GPU use the same LPDDR5X memory pool. Windows and applications allocate memory as needed, so a graphics workload can use more of the pool when the CPU is lightly loaded, while a CPU-heavy workflow reduces what is available for graphics or AI.

This arrangement removes the need to copy data between separate system RAM and a discrete GPU memory bank in many workflows. It can be useful for local AI and large assets, but the total pool still has a finite limit. A notebook with 32 GB may run the same software as a 128 GB model yet fail sooner when a model, browser tabs, source files and editing applications are open together.
Thermals, power and battery expectations
NVIDIA specifies a 45–80 W laptop TDP for RTX Spark. TDP is a power envelope used for platform and chassis design; it is not a measured temperature, acoustic rating or guaranteed sustained clock speed. Two notebooks with the same RTX Spark tier can perform differently if one has a thicker heat pipe, a larger fan system or a more permissive firmware power mode.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhat is established
- The platform is designed for integrated, relatively slim systems.
- The specified laptop power range is 45–80 W.
- NVIDIA presents efficiency and all-day-battery positioning as design goals.
What is not established at platform level
- Sustained CPU or GPU temperature under a repeatable load.
- Fan noise at idle, during AI inference or during gaming.
- The length of time a notebook can hold its advertised power level before reducing clocks.
- A universal battery-runtime result.
For a purchase decision, look for reproducible, model-specific sustained-load tests. The useful measurements are performance after at least 20–30 minutes of a fixed workload, surface temperature, fan-noise level, battery runtime under a stated test and the power mode used. Do not infer those results from the 45–80 W number alone.
Why battery life varies
Battery life depends on capacity, screen size and refresh rate, panel brightness, firmware, background applications, wireless activity and whether the workload uses the GPU. A high-resolution or high-refresh display can consume more power than a lower-power panel, while local AI inference can keep both the CPU and GPU active. Compare notebook-specific tests made with the same workload rather than relying on the platform label.
Can you upgrade RAM or the SSD?
RAM: plan it as fixed
LPDDR5X is integrated into the RTX Spark platform. NVIDIA’s cited material does not promise socketed memory, user-replaceable modules or a post-purchase memory upgrade. Select the required capacity when ordering. For local AI, the highest available tier is the safer choice if you expect model growth, long contexts, multiple models or simultaneous creative applications.
Do not buy a 32 GB notebook assuming that a service center can convert it to 64 GB or 128 GB later. Unless the individual manufacturer publishes a service procedure explicitly allowing that change, treat the installed memory as permanent.
SSD: verify each model
Storage upgradeability is unresolved at the platform level. Before buying, locate the exact notebook’s service manual or parts documentation and confirm:
- Whether the SSD is removable or soldered.
- The drive form factor and supported length.
- Whether a second M.2 slot exists.
- Whether replacing the drive affects warranty coverage.
- Whether opening the chassis requires a manufacturer-approved procedure.
- Whether the operating-system recovery image and Arm drivers are available for a replacement drive.
Do not generalize from one launch family to another. A serviceable SSD in one model does not establish that every RTX Spark notebook has the same layout.

How much does an RTX Spark laptop cost?
The announced starting price is $2,599. This is a starting price for the announced laptop range, not a universal price for every configuration or country. Higher memory, a larger or higher-resolution panel, more storage and a different processor/GPU tier can raise the total. Taxes, shipping, currency conversion and regional pricing can also change the checkout amount.
When comparing two prices, record the complete configuration: unified-memory capacity, CPU/GPU tier, SSD size, display resolution and refresh rate, battery capacity, warranty and included accessories. A cheaper 32 GB model may be poor value for a local-AI workload if the memory cannot be expanded.

Local AI and personal agents
Choose the highest unified-memory tier you can justify. Capacity determines which models and context sizes can remain resident; bandwidth affects how quickly data moves; CPU and GPU resources influence preprocessing and generation. The 20-core/6,144-core tier with up to 128 GB is the logical starting point for large models, multiple services or lightweight fine-tuning.
Ask the seller or software vendor whether the intended framework supports Windows on Arm and the relevant RTX acceleration path. A large memory pool cannot compensate for an application that lacks native or compatible Arm support.

3D, CAD and creative scenes
NVIDIA claims support for scenes up to 90 GB, hardware encode and decode for HEVC, H.264 and AV1, and RTX features including OptiX and DLSS. These are platform capability claims. Application-specific scene size, plug-ins, drivers and viewport behavior still need verification.
For creative work, compare the panel’s color coverage and calibration, available USB4 or other high-speed ports, SD-card support, external-display limits and storage serviceability in addition to memory.
Video editing
The listed HEVC, H.264 and AV1 hardware paths can reduce CPU load when an application uses the supported encoders and decoders. Check the editor’s Windows-on-Arm support, codec implementation and export behavior. A codec appearing on a specification sheet does not guarantee that every effect, plug-in or delivery preset is hardware-accelerated.
Gaming
RTX Spark supports ray tracing, DLSS 5 and Reflex according to NVIDIA. Actual frame rates depend on the notebook’s cooling, power mode, driver version, game settings, ray-tracing options and native display resolution. Use benchmarks from the exact notebook rather than results from a different chassis with the same GPU tier.

- 15.1" WQXGA OLED Glossy Display
- Gigabit LAN, 2x2 WiFi 7 (802.11be), Bluetooth 5.4
- 4.19 lbs. (1.90 kg),Windows 11 Home
For a gaming purchase, compare measured frame rates at the panel’s native resolution, one or more ray-tracing settings, fan noise and sustained performance after the initial burst. A high-refresh display is useful only if the system can sustain frame rates that justify it.
Portability and office work
The integrated design and 45–80 W envelope are intended to support thinner systems, but portability is more than thickness. Check weight, charger size, battery capacity, webcam, keyboard, port selection and standby behavior. If your work is mostly documents and meetings, paying for 128 GB may provide little benefit; if local AI or large creative files are part of the plan, memory headroom becomes more valuable.
A practical buying checklist
- Choose the memory capacity. Estimate the operating system, applications, model weights, context and browser usage together. Buy the next capacity tier if the estimate leaves little headroom.
- Confirm the silicon tier. Verify whether the SKU has the 20-core Grace CPU and 6,144-core Blackwell GPU or the 18-core/5,120-core tier.
- Read the exact display specification. Record resolution, refresh rate, brightness, color coverage, touch support and adaptive-sync features.
- Check sustained-load evidence. Prefer tests that report temperatures, noise, power mode and performance after a prolonged workload.
- Inspect ports and expansion. Confirm USB4 or equivalent high-speed connectivity, external-display support, card readers and the number of fast USB ports.
- Verify SSD serviceability. Use the exact model’s service documentation to identify removable drives, spare slots and warranty conditions.
- Confirm Windows-on-Arm software support. Check every essential application, plug-in, driver and peripheral before purchase.
- Compare the complete price. Include the memory tier, storage, charger, warranty and regional taxes rather than comparing headline starting prices.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Mistaking unified memory for dedicated VRAM
Calling the full 128 GB pool “128 GB of VRAM” overstates what the GPU can use at any moment. Describe it as unified LPDDR5X memory shared by CPU and GPU, and explain that allocation changes with the workload.
Assuming every RTX Spark model has 128 GB
The highest configuration reaches 128 GB, while NVIDIA’s lower-tier table lists up to 32 GB and another consumer presentation shows a 64 GB maximum for one laptop presentation. Verify the exact SKU.

45–80 W describes a power envelope. It does not tell you whether a notebook is quiet, cool or free of throttling. Require sustained tests for those judgments.
Assuming RAM or SSD upgrades
Integrated LPDDR5X should be treated as fixed. SSD access varies by manufacturer and model, so find the service documentation before ordering.
Comparing notebook families instead of configurations
A family can contain multiple screens, memory capacities, storage options and power profiles. Compare the full part number and regional specification sheet.
Bottom line for buyers
RTX Spark notebooks are most compelling when local AI, large creative assets or demanding multitasking justify a large shared memory pool. Buy the memory capacity you need at checkout, then select the notebook with the best independently measured sustained performance, display, ports, battery and service policy for your workload. The platform specifications establish the architecture and limits; they do not substitute for model-specific thermal, acoustic, battery or upgrade evidence.
