NVIDIA’s latest surfaced SEC subsidiary schedule identifies Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. as wholly owned, but it does not support a list of five companies. The schedule covers subsidiaries significant in aggregate and omits smaller ones. Here’s what the available records establish—and why investments and abandoned deals should not be mistaken for completed acquisitions.
What NVIDIA’s subsidiary filing confirms
NVIDIA’s Exhibit 21.1 for the fiscal year ended January 25, 2026, is headed “Subsidiaries of Registrant (All 100% owned)” and names Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. The exhibit says it omits subsidiaries that would not be significant in aggregate, so it is not a complete inventory of every NVIDIA subsidiary. Its short list cannot establish that Mellanox is NVIDIA’s only subsidiary, nor does the evidence here identify four other companies to complete a five-company list. Read NVIDIA’s Exhibit 21.1 filed with its fiscal 2026 Form 10-K.
Why Mellanox is part of NVIDIA
NVIDIA completed its acquisition of Mellanox in April 2020. The acquisition brought a networking business into NVIDIA’s data-center strategy, complementing the company’s GPU work with infrastructure for connecting systems and moving data. NVIDIA announced completion of the acquisition in April 2020.

These products and technologies help explain the strategic fit: data-center infrastructure requires more than processors alone. See NVIDIA’s fiscal 2025 Form 10-K.

How to tell ownership from other relationships
| Relationship | What the evidence shows | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Wholly owned subsidiary | NVIDIA’s fiscal 2026 Exhibit 21.1 includes the named subsidiary in a schedule labeled “All 100% owned.” The schedule is selective, not a complete inventory. | Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. |
| Venture investment or portfolio relationship | NVIDIA describes NVentures as its venture-capital arm and frames portfolio companies as investments and long-term partnerships. Portfolio membership alone does not establish that NVIDIA owns or controls a company. | NVentures portfolio companies; no specific portfolio company is established here as wholly owned. NVIDIA’s NVentures overview. |
| Proposed acquisition that did not close | A planned purchase is not a completed acquisition. NVIDIA’s fiscal 2025 annual report says its proposed Arm purchase was terminated in February 2022 after regulatory challenges prevented completion. | Arm. NVIDIA’s fiscal 2025 Form 10-K. |
What the acquisition cost figure means
NVIDIA’s fiscal 2022 Form 10-K reported total purchase consideration of $7.13 billion for the acquisition of all outstanding Mellanox shares, completed in April 2020. That is the accounting purchase-consideration figure reported in that filing; it differs from the $6.9 billion headline announced when the agreement was made. See the fiscal 2022 Form 10-K.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why a five-company list would overstate the evidence
The filing supports Mellanox as a named, wholly owned subsidiary and explicitly limits the schedule’s scope. NVentures portfolio status is a different relationship, and the Arm proposal never became a completed acquisition. Without dated, company-specific ownership evidence for four more businesses, naming them as companies NVIDIA owns would blur investment, acquisition, and control into one claim. The responsible answer to “What companies does NVIDIA own?” is therefore narrower than the headline’s implied list.
