NVIDIA joined The Earthshot Prize as a Global Alliance Founding Partner in October 2026, committing accelerated-computing access, engineering help, training and developer resources for Earthshot finalists. The partnership is intended to help finalists build and deploy solutions across climate, nature, clean air, oceans and waste—not to provide a new prize category or replace the prize’s existing £1 million awards.
What NVIDIA’s Earthshot partnership provides
The Earthshot Prize announcement on 14 October 2026 and NVIDIA’s own 13 October statement describe a package combining hardware, software, education and hands-on technical assistance. The public announcement names four support channels.
NVIDIA Inception resources
Finalists will be able to use NVIDIA Inception resources, including technical materials, training, developer tools and access to NVIDIA’s partner ecosystem. Inception is the program pathway for startup-oriented technical and ecosystem support; the announcement does not state a separate cash allocation for finalists through this partnership.
Earth-2 climate and weather tools
Finalists will receive access to educational resources connected with Earth-2, including open models and tools for weather forecasting and climate modelling. These resources are aimed at helping teams understand and test modelling workflows for climate and weather-related problems.
#1 Best Overall
- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
Dedicated engineering support
NVIDIA says it will provide engineering assistance beyond the benefits already available through Inception. The announcement does not publish a staffing level, response-time guarantee or fixed number of engineering hours, so the scope will depend on each finalist’s project and technical needs.
DGX Spark systems
The named physical system is NVIDIA DGX Spark, a compact desktop supercomputer. Finalists can use it, with training, to develop, test and run AI models locally. Local execution can help teams iterate without sending every experiment to a remote environment, while the system’s value will depend on the model size, data pipeline and workload each project brings.
How the support maps to Earthshot work
| Support or resource | Primary form | Development stage | Potential Earthshot use |
|---|---|---|---|
| NVIDIA Inception | Developer tools, training, technical resources and partner ecosystem | Model development and early deployment planning | All five Earthshots |
| Earth-2 educational resources | Open models and climate/weather modelling tools | Research, modelling and testing | Fix Our Climate; also nature, air and oceans projects affected by weather risk |
| Dedicated engineering support | Project-specific technical assistance | Development, testing and deployment | All five Earthshots, depending on the finalist’s system |
| DGX Spark | Local accelerated-computing hardware and training | Developing, testing and running models locally | Climate, nature, clean air, oceans and waste |
The intended applications include predicting climate risk earlier, monitoring nature, accelerating scientific discovery and optimising complex systems at scale. A finalist working on ocean monitoring, for example, could need forecasting and computer-vision workflows; a waste-focused team might use local model development to improve sorting or logistics. The partnership announcement describes these as intended capabilities, not guaranteed outcomes for every finalist.

Which Earthshot finalists receive access?
The commitment is for Earthshot finalists. The announcement does not identify a separate public application form, quota of DGX Spark units, regional allocation or hardware-ownership arrangement. It also does not say that every finalist will receive identical equipment or engineering time. Teams should therefore treat access as a benefit administered through the Earthshot partnership, with practical terms to be confirmed by the prize and NVIDIA.
What The Earthshot Prize is—and why the partnership matters
Founded by Prince William in 2020, The Earthshot Prize is organised around five challenges, called Earthshots:
- Protect and Restore Nature
- Clean Our Air
- Revive Our Oceans
- Build a Waste-Free World
- Fix Our Climate
The prize says more than 400 expert nominators submit solutions each year, producing a pipeline of nearly 7,000 solutions from 169 countries. Fifteen finalists are selected annually, and five winners receive £1 million each to expand their impact. The organisation says it has supported 90 finalists since launch and aims to have supported 150 by 2030.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing.
- Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
- Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
- 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
That structure explains the role of NVIDIA’s contribution: it adds technical capacity to a cohort that already has recognition and prize support. Faster modelling, local testing and specialist engineering could help a finalist move from a promising demonstration toward a system that operates in a community, ecosystem or industrial setting. Computing alone does not validate a climate claim, provide field data or guarantee deployment; those remain responsibilities of each project and its partners.
Founding partner or sponsor?
NVIDIA is described as a Global Alliance Founding Partner, not merely as a generic sponsor in the two announcements. That is the partnership label used for its role in the Earthshot global alliance. The public statements focus on in-kind technical resources, computing access and expertise; they do not disclose a cash sponsorship amount.

Jason Knauf, chief executive officer of The Earthshot Prize, said finalists are already using AI and technology to scale solutions for people and the planet and called the partnership a “transformational opportunity” for the community.

- WINDFORCE cooling system
NVIDIA chief executive Jensen Huang said accelerated computing and what he called “Super Intelligence” could help scientists and innovators discover sustainable energy sources, develop lower-resource materials and turn scientific breakthroughs into technologies and industries.
What to watch next
The announcement establishes the resources and intended beneficiaries but leaves operational details open. Future guidance would need to clarify how finalists request DGX Spark systems, whether hardware is loaned or retained, what data-security requirements apply, and how engineering support is scheduled. Until those terms are published, the clearest takeaway is that all 2026-era Earthshot finalists are being offered a pathway to NVIDIA computing and expertise, with the exact mix determined by project needs.
