NVIDIA has added DLSS 4.5 controls to GeForce NOW, allowing members to tune supported cloud games for sharper images, smoother frame generation, or a balance between visual quality and responsiveness. The announcement, made October 15, 2026, gives GeForce NOW Ultimate members streaming on RTX 5080-powered cloud rigs the service’s highest announced option: Dynamic Multi Frame Generation of up to 4X.

The 4X capability is not a universal GeForce NOW setting. It depends on an Ultimate membership, an RTX 5080 cloud session, and a game that supports the relevant DLSS controls.

What the new DLSS 4.5 controls do

The controls are available in the GeForce NOW app settings on Windows, macOS, Chrome OS and SteamOS. NVIDIA says they let members choose whether a supported game should prioritize image quality, responsiveness, or a preferred balance between the two.

Control Purpose in GeForce NOW Important limitation
DLSS Super Resolution Sharpens image quality while the game is streamed from NVIDIA’s cloud hardware. Only appears when the game and device support the control.
Dynamic Multi Frame Generation Generates additional frames to reduce perceived stutter and improve streaming smoothness and responsiveness. Up to 4X is announced for Ultimate members on RTX 5080-powered cloud rigs; it is not promised for every tier or title.
Ray Reconstruction Enhances visuals in games using ray tracing. Requires a supported ray-traced game and compatible cloud session.

NVIDIA describes the controls as a way to tune supported games rather than as a blanket upgrade applied to every title in the catalog. A game can therefore expose one control, several controls, or none at all.

Who can use 4X Dynamic Multi Frame Generation?

The maximum announced GeForce NOW setting is tied to both membership and cloud hardware.

Requirement What NVIDIA’s announcement establishes
Membership GeForce NOW Ultimate is required for the announced maximum options.
Cloud GPU The session must run on a GeForce RTX 5080-powered cloud rig.
Frame generation Dynamic Multi Frame Generation can be configured up to 4X in this implementation.
Game support The streamed game must support the DLSS 4.5 control being selected.

Having Ultimate does not guarantee that every session will show 4X. Cloud capacity, the assigned rig, the game’s implementation and device support all affect which options appear. NVIDIA’s wording is an entitlement for qualifying Ultimate sessions, not a claim that every GeForce NOW member receives the same setting.

How to turn on DLSS 4.5 in GeForce NOW

NVIDIA places the controls in the GeForce NOW application settings. The exact options shown can change with the device, game and assigned cloud rig.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Install or open the GeForce NOW app on Windows, macOS, Chrome OS or SteamOS.
  2. Sign in to the GeForce NOW account that has the desired membership tier.
  3. Open the app’s Settings and look for the DLSS 4.5 controls.
  4. Select the available balance between image quality and responsiveness, then choose the available Super Resolution, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation or Ray Reconstruction options.
  5. Start a supported game and check the in-game or GeForce NOW overlay controls. If an option is missing, the title, device or current cloud rig may not support it.

Do not assume that a local game setting will override the cloud implementation. GeForce NOW runs the game on NVIDIA’s servers, so the available controls are determined by the service session as well as by the game.

  • Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
  • Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
  • 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
  • Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads

What you need to use the feature

  • A GeForce NOW account and a supported membership tier; Ultimate is required for the announced RTX 5080 and up-to-4X combination.
  • A supported client path, including Windows, macOS, Chrome OS or SteamOS for the app settings.
  • A game that supports the relevant DLSS 4.5 feature.
  • A compatible input device for the device you use. On additional Amazon Fire TV devices, NVIDIA says supported PC games can be played with a compatible controller, but it does not identify specific controller models in the announcement.
  • A stable connection suitable for cloud gaming. The announcement does not specify a new bandwidth or latency threshold for DLSS 4.5, so existing GeForce NOW requirements still apply.

GeForce NOW DLSS 4.5 versus local PC DLSS 4.5

Cloud and local DLSS 4.5 features should not be treated as interchangeable. NVIDIA’s local PC announcements describe features delivered through NVIDIA App overrides and supported RTX hardware, while GeForce NOW applies controls on NVIDIA’s remote servers.

Aspect GeForce NOW implementation Local PC implementation
Hardware Cloud rig selected by the service; up to 4X Dynamic Multi Frame Generation is announced for Ultimate members on RTX 5080-powered rigs. Requires supported local RTX hardware, with features delivered through NVIDIA App controls or overrides.
Frame-generation claim Up to 4X Dynamic Multi Frame Generation in the announced Ultimate cloud configuration. NVIDIA describes Dynamic Multi Frame Generation that adjusts generated frames toward a target rate, plus a separate 6X Multi Frame Generation mode for local RTX 50-series users.
Super Resolution Available when exposed by a supported streamed game and session. NVIDIA Developer says DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution overrides cover more than 400 titles.
What the user owns No local RTX PC is required; the game is rendered in the cloud. The user supplies and maintains the compatible GPU, driver and game installation.

The local announcement’s 6X figure does not transfer to GeForce NOW. The current GeForce NOW announcement specifically states up to 4X for the qualifying Ultimate cloud configuration.

Where GeForce NOW can be used

NVIDIA has expanded GeForce NOW access through Firefox, Steam ecosystem devices and additional Amazon Fire TV devices. Fire TV support is described in terms of playing supported PC games with a compatible controller. Because NVIDIA does not enumerate controller models in the announcement, compatibility should be checked for the exact device and game before purchase.

The service handles game downloads, installation and updates in the cloud, so a supported game can run without a local RTX desktop or laptop. NVIDIA says GeForce NOW has supported more than 4,500 games and streamed more than 1 billion hours during its first six years.

Limits and common causes of missing options

  • Not an Ultimate account: lower tiers should not be expected to show the maximum RTX 5080 or 4X options.
  • Different cloud hardware: an Ultimate account can still be assigned a session that does not expose every announced control.
  • Unsupported game: DLSS controls are title-dependent, especially Ray Reconstruction and frame generation.
  • Unsupported client or device: the settings are documented for Windows, macOS, Chrome OS and SteamOS; other access methods may expose a different control set.
  • Confusing local and cloud settings: local RTX 50-series features, including the announced 6X mode, are not evidence that GeForce NOW provides 6X.

NVIDIA’s October 15 announcement gives GeForce NOW members more control over how supported games look and perform without requiring the latest local hardware. For the highest frame-generation setting, the deciding combination is Ultimate membership, an RTX 5080-powered cloud rig and a compatible game.
