Does Novawave work in Australia?
The most accurate answer is not verified. The available product pages do not establish that Novawave is shipped to Australia, supported by an Australian service team, tuned or certified for Australian broadcast services, or tested in an Australian household. Your television’s tuner scans the radio-frequency channels present at the antenna input and stores the services it can decode. The antenna itself is passive or amplified hardware; it does not choose a city, unlock subscription channels or compensate for a signal that is blocked before it reaches the room.

Distance is only one part of the problem. A nearby transmitter can still be difficult to receive if a building, hill, metal cladding or dense construction lies between it and the antenna. Conversely, a home farther away may receive stable signals with a clear path and a well-placed antenna. Indoor placement adds reflections from walls and furniture, so moving the antenna by a small amount can change the result.
The seller recommends trying different indoor positions, including near a window, and rescanning after moving it. That advice is important: a scan performed in a poor position will not automatically update when the antenna is moved later.
How to install Novawave and run a useful test
- Check the television connection. Confirm that the TV has a terrestrial or antenna input that accepts the supplied coaxial cable. A satellite-only input, an incompatible connector or a set-top box with no terrestrial tuner may require different hardware.
- Choose an initial position. Mount the flat antenna on an interior wall or window, preferably where it is not enclosed by a cabinet or pressed against large metal objects. Keep the cable routing neat and avoid sharply bending the coaxial lead.
- Connect the cable. Screw or push the supplied coaxial cable firmly onto the antenna and the TV’s antenna input. A loose connector can produce intermittent channels that look like a reception problem.
- Select the TV’s broadcast-scan menu. Open the television’s settings and choose the option labelled for channel setup, auto-tune, auto-scan or digital terrestrial scanning. Labels differ by TV manufacturer; select the terrestrial/antenna source rather than cable or satellite.
- Run a complete scan. Let the scan finish before judging the result. Record which services are found and whether the picture and sound remain stable for several minutes.
- Repeat after repositioning. Move the antenna to another window or a higher, less obstructed location, then run a new complete scan. Compare results rather than assuming the first scan represents the antenna’s maximum performance.
- Test at different times. If channels appear and disappear, note whether the issue follows a particular position or time. Persistent instability can indicate marginal signal strength, multipath reflections, a damaged cable or a fault in the TV input.
The antenna is described as indoor-only and not weatherproof. Do not install it outdoors, on a roof or where it will be exposed to rain unless a separate, appropriately rated antenna system is used.

- Read the return window and identify who pays return postage if reception is unsuitable.
