The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is the stronger fit if you want a dedicated periscope telephoto camera, a larger, faster-refreshing display, or a stated software-support term. The Phone (4b) has a conventional main-and-ultra-wide rear-camera setup and a lower price on Nothing’s German store, but that price cannot be compared directly with the Pro’s US listing. Choose using prices for the same country, storage tier, and date.

Which phone has the better camera?
Choose the 4a Pro for telephoto reach
Nothing lists a periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom on the 4a Pro, alongside a claim of up to 140x zoom. Optical zoom is the meaningful hardware distinction for framing distant subjects; the maximum zoom figure should not be treated as evidence of optical image quality at that range. Nothing’s listed 32 MP front camera also has higher resolution than the 4b’s 16 MP front camera, but resolution alone does not establish which takes better selfies.

The 4b’s published rear-camera arrangement pairs a 50 MP OIS main camera with a 119-degree ultra-wide camera. That makes its listed setup suited to standard and broad-angle framing, while the 4a Pro adds a dedicated telephoto option. The specifications do not establish overall image quality; that requires comparable camera testing.

Which display is better?
On Nothing’s published specifications, the 4a Pro has the larger panel and higher adaptive refresh rate: 6.83 inches and up to 144 Hz, versus the 4b’s 6.77 inches and up to 120 Hz. The Pro listing also specifies 1.5K resolution. These figures describe manufacturer specifications, not independently measured brightness, color accuracy, or real-world smoothness.
Battery and charging depend on region
For most regions, Nothing lists a 5,080 mAh battery for the 4a Pro and 5,200 mAh for the 4b. India-specific figures are 5,400 mAh and 6,000 mAh, respectively. Check the specification for the exact country before using capacity to choose between them; capacity alone does not determine battery life.

- Heavy-duty bumper frame case
- Anti-slip embossed texture for a secure grip
- Non-yellowing TPU bumper and polycarbonate back
- Air Cushion Bumper design for enhanced shock protection
- Built-in strap holes to attach wrist straps and other accessories
The charging claims are not directly comparable: Nothing says the 4a Pro supports 50 W fast charging and advertises a day’s power in under 30 minutes, while its 4b page advertises reaching 50% in under 30 minutes. Those are different manufacturer claims, not results from the same charging test.

| Phone and configuration | Store and displayed price | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|
| Phone (4a) Pro, 8+128 GB | Nothing US store: $419, shown against $499 | Sale-sensitive storefront price displayed against a reference/original price; not a guaranteed permanent price |
| Phone (4b), 8+128 GB | Nothing Germany store: €329 | German storefront price |
Do not subtract the euro price from the dollar price or call the result a global difference: the phones are listed in different markets and currencies. For a useful comparison, check both models on Nothing’s store or authorized retailers in your country, match the storage configuration, and compare prices on the same date. A UK search-result snippet showed prices for both models, but the linked collection returned an error, so it does not establish a current UK price.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Software support is clearer for the Pro
Nothing states that the 4a Pro receives 3 years of OS updates and 6 years of security updates. The captured official 4b product information confirms Android 16-based Nothing OS but does not establish an equivalent update commitment. Do not assume the two phones have the same support period without a current official policy for the 4b.
Which phone should you buy?
- Pick the Phone (4a) Pro if telephoto photography, the larger 144 Hz display, or its stated update commitment matters most.
- Consider the Phone (4b) if you prefer a main-and-ultra-wide camera arrangement and its same-country price is better for your needs.
- Before deciding, confirm the local battery specification, storage tier, current price, and the 4b’s official support policy for your market.
These are specification-based distinctions, not a hands-on verdict on performance, display quality, battery life, or camera results.
