The Nothing Phone (3a) is the more versatile choice on paper for an AMOLED display and dedicated telephoto and ultra-wide cameras. The vivo T5x stands out for its larger rated battery and manufacturer-advertised IP68/IP69+ protection. A seller-price snapshot showed a ₹2,100 difference, but the offers were from different retailers and may not match by configuration.

These are manufacturer-published specifications and claims, not results from a direct independent test of both phones. For official details, see Nothing’s Phone (3a) specifications and vivo’s T5x product information.

How the displays and cameras differ

Display: AMOLED versus LCD

The listed screens are nearly the same size and both support a 120Hz refresh rate. The key distinction is panel type: Nothing specifies AMOLED, while vivo specifies LCD. If panel technology is a priority, the Phone (3a) is the clearer fit on the published specifications. vivo also lists 1200-nit HBM brightness for the T5x; that manufacturer figure does not establish how the displays compare in every lighting condition.

Cameras: more focal-length options on the Phone (3a)

The Phone (3a) has a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP 2x optical telephoto camera, and an 8MP ultra-wide. The T5x lists a 50MP Sony IMX852 main camera and a 2MP bokeh camera. That gives the Phone (3a) more distinct camera options on paper, especially for optical zoom and ultra-wide framing. It does not prove that its photos are better: megapixel counts and camera hardware alone cannot establish image quality.

Both phones list a 32MP front camera. Equal stated resolution is not enough to predict selfie quality or video performance.

Battery capacity and charging: what the numbers tell you

vivo lists a 7200mAh battery for the T5x, compared with 5000mAh for the Phone (3a). The T5x therefore has the larger rated capacity, but that is not the same as a measured battery-life result. Actual endurance depends on factors such as display use, network conditions, software, and workload; the available evidence does not establish a comparable test winner.

Nothing lists 50W wired charging and vivo lists 44W. The Phone (3a) has the higher advertised wattage, but wattage alone cannot establish charging time. The cited materials do not provide a like-for-like charging test for these phones.

Performance, software, and support

The Phone (3a) uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, while the T5x uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400-Turbo. These are different platforms, but the cited specifications do not establish which phone performs better in independent benchmarks, games, or everyday use.

The software versions in the cited materials are from different points in the product information: Nothing’s India launch announcement described Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.1, while vivo’s current T5x page specifies Android 16-based OriginOS 6. Nothing has documented a promise of three Android updates and six years of security updates for the Phone (3a). The official T5x materials cited here do not state a comparable support duration, so they do not support a claim that its support period is shorter.

Which phone is better for your priorities?

  • Choose the Phone (3a) if an AMOLED display, a dedicated 2x optical telephoto, an ultra-wide camera, or Nothing’s documented update commitment matters most to you.
  • Consider the T5x if its larger stated battery capacity or vivo’s advertised IP68/IP69+ protection is a priority. Treat both as specifications and manufacturer claims, not proof of longer real-world battery life or protection in every circumstance.
  • Compare performance before choosing on speed. The chipset names alone do not establish a winner, and no direct independent comparison is established here.
  • Base the price decision on matching variants. Compare the same RAM and storage capacity at the same time and retailer where possible, then include any applicable offer.

What the specifications cannot settle

The published figures do not answer which phone lasts longer in a controlled battery test, takes better photos, charges faster in practice, or performs better in real workloads. Those outcomes require comparable testing. Likewise, the T5x’s listed weight is a single specification, not a basis for a direct comfort comparison when a corresponding Phone (3a) figure is not established here.
