The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro stands out for its dedicated 3x optical-zoom periscope camera; the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion offers a larger battery and a higher-resolution, faster-refreshing display in the UK specification. Both official specification pages list the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, so neither has a chipset-generation advantage. Price depends on country, configuration, stock and retailer: there is no single global winner.

These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent comparative measurements. Motorola cautions that specifications may vary by market. Nothing’s European Phone (3a) Pro specifications and Motorola’s UK Edge 70 Fusion specifications are the sources for the figures above.

Which phone is better for photos?

Choose Nothing for a dedicated zoom camera

The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro has a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with optical image stabilisation and 3x optical zoom. Nothing also describes 6x zoom as lossless and up to 60x as ultra zoom. Those labels are not interchangeable: 3x is the stated optical zoom, while 60x is not optical. The 8MP ultrawide camera has a 120-degree field of view, and the front camera is 50MP.

Choose Motorola for ultrawide macro coverage

The Edge 70 Fusion’s UK specification lists a 50MP OIS main camera with a Sony LYTIA 710 sensor and a 13MP, 120-degree ultrawide camera with macro capability. Its front camera is 32MP. The listed camera setup favors ultrawide and macro coverage rather than a dedicated periscope telephoto lens.

Camera resolution alone does not establish which phone takes better pictures overall. The specifications identify hardware, but do not provide a controlled side-by-side camera test.

How do their displays compare?

Motorola’s UK model lists a 6.78-inch Extreme AMOLED display with 2772 × 1272 resolution, refresh rates up to 144Hz, HDR10+ and 5,200-nit peak brightness. Nothing lists a 6.77-inch, 120Hz AMOLED display with 3,000-nit peak brightness. On paper, Motorola offers the higher resolution and refresh-rate ceiling. The peak-brightness figures are manufacturer specifications, not results from a controlled comparison, so they should not be treated as directly measured real-world brightness.

Does Motorola’s larger battery mean longer battery life?

The UK Motorola specification lists a 7,000mAh battery and 68W TurboPower wired charging; Nothing lists 5,000mAh and 50W charging. These are rated capacities and charging powers, not independent runtime or charging-time results. Screen settings, network conditions, workload and other factors affect actual use, so the numbers alone do not establish how much longer either phone lasts or how quickly it charges in practice.

Are performance and software a deciding factor?

Both official specification pages identify the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. The cited material therefore does not support describing one as having a newer Snapdragon generation or declaring a performance winner. No independent comparative benchmark is established here.

Motorola’s UK support page states that security updates continue until February 2031. That commitment is tied to the cited UK support information; check the terms for the exact model and country you intend to buy.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro if a dedicated 3x optical periscope camera is the feature you value most, or if its local like-for-like offer suits your budget.
  • Consider the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion if its larger listed battery, higher display resolution or up-to-144Hz refresh rate better fits your priorities—and those specifications apply to the regional version available to you.
  • Do not choose on chipset generation alone: both official specifications list Snapdragon 7s Gen 3.

What to verify before buying

  • Confirm the exact regional model and RAM/storage configuration; the cited UK Motorola specifications are for 8GB/256GB, while its Japan storefront lists 12GB/256GB.
  • Check local network-band compatibility for your carrier and region.
  • Read the software and security-update terms that apply in your country and to the specific model.
  • Verify whether a charger or other accessories are included in the box rather than assuming they are.
  • Check warranty coverage, seller identity, stock, delivery charges, discounts and the final checkout price. A listed or marketplace-snapshot price can change.
