Is the Nothing Phone (2a) still a good buy for your needs? It can be a compelling mid-range choice if you want a large, smooth display, a 5,000 mAh battery, and distinctive design with a clean-feeling software presentation—and if its current price in your country is competitive. Its main trade-offs are cameras without optical zoom, a plastic back, and performance that reviewers say falls short of costlier phones. It is a weaker fit if photography is your top priority.
What stands out about the Nothing Phone (2a)?
The Phone (2a) combines a 6.7-inch flexible AMOLED display, a 5,000 mAh battery, and Nothing’s Glyph design. Nothing’s Europe product page specifies adaptive refresh from 30 to 120 Hz and 1084 × 2412 resolution; its listed pixel density is 394 PPI. The large panel and high refresh rate are its clearest everyday-use attractions, while the Glyph lighting gives the rear a distinctive look.
Nothing lists up to 1300 nits peak brightness. That is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee of typical outdoor visibility. Its support page gives a different set of labeled measurements—500 nits normal, 700 nits HBM, and 1300 nits peak—while the product page labels 700 nits typical and 1100 nits outdoor. These metrics should not be treated as directly interchangeable. See Nothing’s Phone (2a) product specifications and its screen parameters FAQ.

What are the pros and cons?
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Large 6.7-inch AMOLED display with adaptive 30–120 Hz refresh, according to Nothing. | No optical zoom, and reviewers found the cameras short of the best in class. |
| 5,000 mAh battery capacity; reviewers highlighted battery life as a strength. | Plastic rear surface; The Guardian reviewer found it scratched easily. |
| Distinctive Glyph design and Nothing software presentation. | Reviewers noted that performance trails more expensive alternatives. |
| IP54 rating specified by Nothing under specific laboratory conditions. | Splash resistance is not waterproofing; protection is limited to the stated rating and conditions. |
The Guardian’s 2024 review praised the design, screen, performance for its class, battery life, software, fingerprint scanner, and splash resistance, while criticizing the camera limits, scratch-prone rear, and update support as understood in that review’s context. Android Authority also highlighted the display, battery, software smoothness, and solid performance, but said the phone could not be recommended to US buyers in the market and carrier context of its review. That assessment should not be generalized to other countries. See The Guardian’s review and Android Authority’s review.

How good are the cameras?
Nothing specifies two 50 MP rear cameras, including an ultrawide camera with a 114-degree field of view, and a 32 MP front camera. The number of megapixels does not establish image quality by itself: The Guardian’s review found the cameras below the best in class, and the phone has no optical zoom. If you regularly photograph distant subjects or want consistently top-tier results, especially across varied conditions, consider that limitation before buying.
How are the battery and charging?
Nothing specifies a 5,000 mAh battery and 45 W charging on its Europe product page. The same page claims 59 minutes to a full charge; Nothing’s support FAQ says charging time depends on protocol and temperature, recommends a PPS charger at room temperature with the screen off, and estimates roughly one hour using a Nothing charger. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results, and actual charging time can vary. The box contents list a Type-C cable but no charger. Details are in Nothing’s battery and charging FAQ.

What software and update information should buyers check?
Nothing’s product page describes the phone at launch with Android 14 and Nothing OS 2.5. As of October 7, 2026, Nothing’s OS 5.0 page listed a mid-October beta and mid-November general release for Phone (2a). The company labels its schedule indicative and says rollout is phased by region and carrier, so those dates do not confirm that the update is available for a particular handset or market. Check the phone’s update screen and local rollout information before relying on a specific version. See Nothing’s OS 5.0 rollout page.

What comes in the box?
Nothing lists the phone, a Type-C cable, a pre-applied screen protector, a SIM tray ejector, and a safety/warranty card. A separate case is not listed. The included-items list is on Nothing’s Phone (2a) box contents FAQ.
Should you buy the Nothing Phone (2a)?
It makes the most sense for someone who values the large high-refresh display, battery capacity, Glyph styling, and Nothing’s software approach, and who can find it at a worthwhile current local price. It is a less suitable choice for buyers who prioritize optical zoom, consistently top-tier camera results, or a tougher-feeling rear finish. Because prices, stock, software rollout, and carrier compatibility vary by market, compare the current local offer and verify the exact variant rather than relying on an old launch price or a review written for another country.
