NordPass is worth considering if you want a password manager with a free starting tier and paid plans that add access across devices. Its Free plan is limited to one account without multi-device access, while Premium adds security and monitoring features and Family covers six separate accounts. NordPass describes a zero-knowledge security design, but the available audit information does not include the report or its findings. Current prices and renewal terms could not be verified, so check the live offer for your location before subscribing.

What NordPass offers

NordPass is a digital password manager with Free, Premium and Family plans. The plans differ in device access, included security features and the number of people covered. The official plan comparison describes Free as a lifetime plan for one account, with autosave, autofill and secure storage. Premium adds access across multiple devices, Password Health, Data Breach Scanner and file attachments. Family provides six separate accounts with similar Premium features. NordPass can change plan features, so check its current plan comparison before choosing.

Which plan fits your needs?

Free: a one-account starting point

Free may suit someone who wants to try password storage and autofill without paying. In the official comparison retrieved for this review, the plan did not include multi-device access, Password Health or Data Breach Scanner. That makes it a less convenient fit if you expect to use your vault across devices or want those monitoring tools.

Premium: for access across devices and added tools

Premium is the relevant tier if you need to use NordPass across multiple devices or want Password Health, Data Breach Scanner and file attachments. Whether those features justify a subscription depends on how you use a password manager and what comparable services offer at checkout.

Check the full cost, not just the first offer

Current subscription prices, renewal rates, taxes and promotion terms could not be verified: the official plan result displayed prices as “Loading.” These details can vary by region and subscription term. Before paying, review the amount due now, the renewal amount and date, the billing period, and the cancellation terms in NordPass’s live checkout. Do not treat prices in older reviews as current.

Password Safe
  • Requires 3 "AAA" batteries (included)
  • Unit auto-locks for 30 minutes after 5 consecutive incorrect PINs

TechRadar’s review, published July 22, 2025, described Free as allowing unlimited password storage but only one signed-in session at a time. It also reported then-current feature and pricing details. Those are dated observations, not confirmation of today’s limits or costs. The same review noted some features it considered absent at that time, including Wi-Fi syncing and dark-web scanning; those claims may no longer reflect the current product.

Is NordPass safe?

NordPass says it uses a zero-knowledge model. Its support article states: “Your Master Password, encryption, and decryption keys never reach our servers.” This is a statement by NordPass about its architecture, not an independent verification of how every current app version behaves.

NordPass’s security page describes X25519 for key exchange, XSalsa20 for key exchange and encryption, and Poly1305 for message authentication. A recent Tom’s Guide comparison instead reports that NordPass uses XChaCha20. Because these descriptions differ, it is prudent to consult NordPass’s current technical documentation for the implementation details applicable to the version you use rather than assuming the terms are interchangeable.

What the Cure53 audit information does—and does not—show

NordPass says Cure53 audited its cryptographic premise, source code, background application and codebase. A separate NordPass vault page says NordPass Business underwent a Cure53 audit in March 2020. The available pages do not establish whether these descriptions refer to the same assessment, provide its findings, document remediation, or confirm which current app versions were in scope. An audit’s existence is useful context, but without the report it is not enough to judge the results or treat the service as risk-free.

Multi-factor authentication

Tom’s Guide reports that NordPass supports multi-factor authentication using one-time-password authenticator apps and U2F hardware keys. If you plan to use a key, confirm that it supports the relevant U2F protocol. A hardware key is an optional authentication method, not a requirement established for using NordPass.

NordPass pros and cons

Potential advantages

  • A Free plan provides a way to start with one account.
  • Paid plans add multi-device access, and Family covers six separate accounts.
  • The official comparison lists Password Health, Data Breach Scanner and file attachments among Premium features.
  • NordPass describes a zero-knowledge architecture, and an independent comparison reports support for authenticator apps and U2F keys.

Trade-offs and uncertainties

  • The retrieved official comparison excludes multi-device access and several monitoring features from Free.
  • Current prices and renewal terms are not established by the available plan result.
  • The cited Cure53 information does not include the audit report, findings or confirmed coverage of current releases.
  • Some feature limitations reported by a reviewer in 2025 may have changed.

Who should consider NordPass?

NordPass is a reasonable candidate if its current feature set matches your needs: Free for a single-account start, Premium for multiple-device access and added tools, or Family when six people need separate accounts. If your decision depends on price, renewal cost, a specific feature or confidence in the audit findings, confirm that point directly in current NordPass documentation or checkout before committing.
