No Rest for the Wicked will leave Early Access in March 2027, not October 2026. Moon Studios plans a December 2026 open beta first, with a redesigned system built around 24 classes, more than 280 class traits, six trait slots and six factions. The 1.0 release is also planned to add more than 60 hours of content, bringing the overall game to roughly 100 hours.
When will No Rest for the Wicked launch?
Moon Studios moved the full 1.0 launch from October 2026 to March 2027. The studio says the additional time is for performance improvements, tightening the class system and polishing the game. In its announcement, the team summarized the decision: “We’re close, but close isn’t good enough for our full 1.0 launch.”

What are the new classes and traits?
Moon Studios’ September 18, 2026 preview describes the redesigned framework with these headline figures:
#1 Best Overall
| System element | Announced detail |
|---|---|
| Classes | 24 planned classes |
| Class traits | More than 280 |
| Trait slots | Six per character |
| Factions | Six |
| Beta availability | All 24 classes planned for the December 2026 open beta |
The studio calls the redesign “a transformative change” intended to support ways of playing that were not possible under the original progression model. However, the preview does not provide a complete rulebook. It does not yet establish how a player chooses a class, whether classes can be changed freely, how factions affect builds, or whether traits are shared, locked or combinable across classes. Moon Studios announced the October 16 Wicked Inside showcase as the venue for a deeper explanation, so those mechanics should be treated as pending until that presentation or a later official update.
How the new system changes Early Access progression
The Early Access foundation is a precision action RPG whose combat is driven by animation timing and weapon-specific movesets. Runes, upgrades, crafting, housing and gear customization shape a character, rather than a rigid class choice made at the start.
Rank #2
That creates a clear design shift for 1.0:
| Progression question | Early Access model | 1.0 direction |
|---|---|---|
| Class rigidity | No fixed traditional class lock; weapons and modifiers define identity | A formal framework of 24 classes, six factions and trait slots |
| Build variety | Weapon movesets, runes, upgrades and gear provide the main combinations | More than 280 class traits add another layer of specialization |
| Playstyle response | Build follows the weapons and modifiers a player equips | Class and trait choices are intended to support additional play patterns; exact interactions are not yet stated |
| Multiplayer persistence | Early Access description emphasizes the individual action-RPG experience | Private realms are planned to continue evolving while players are offline |
The important distinction is that “24 classes” does not by itself tell players how many practical builds will exist. That depends on trait restrictions, respec rules, faction effects and the relationship between class abilities and weapon movesets. Those details are still required before the system can be judged as flexible or restrictive in practice.

Moon Studios’ June 2026 announcement describes roughly 100 hours of total content, including more than 60 hours of new material. Planned additions include:
Rank #3
- Hardcover
- 15 or more handcrafted regions
- New weapons, bosses and enemies
- A new horde mode
- A completely reimagined class and progression system
- Persistent multiplayer in private realms that keep evolving while players are offline
- The final story arc
- New endgame activities
- Crossplay and cross-save between PC and console at launch
The 60-plus-hour figure refers to new content, while the approximately 100-hour figure covers the planned total experience. They are planning estimates from Moon Studios, not a guaranteed completion time for every player; difficulty, exploration and optional activities will affect individual playtime.
Platforms, PS5 release and pre-orders
The original 1.0 announcement listed PC and PlayStation 5 for October 2026, with Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 marked as to be determined. The September update supersedes the October date and places the launch in March 2027.
Rank #4
- Shrink-wrapped
A PS5 version remains planned, with pre-orders targeted for January 2027. The available announcements do not verify an Amazon listing, physical edition, territory availability or price, so those details should not be treated as confirmed. Crossplay and cross-save are planned between PC and console at launch, but the specific console rollout still depends on the platforms Moon Studios confirms for 1.0.

The beta is the first announced opportunity to try the complete 24-class lineup. Players should use it to evaluate how class identity interacts with the existing combat foundation:
Best Value
- The UNO game players love features graphics inspired by characters from the beloved movie Wicked!
- Game play matches the classic card game where players match colors and numbers to get rid of all their cards.
- The special 'Defy Gravity' rule lets a player skip other players based on how many green cards they have in their hand.
- Special graphic symbols added to each card help identify the color(s) on that card, allowing players with any form of color blindness to play!
- When down to one card, don't forget to yell, 'UNO!'
- Test several classes with different weapon types instead of judging the system from one build.
- Record which traits occupy the six available slots and whether changing them requires a cost or reset.
- Compare faction effects in solo play and multiplayer if both are enabled in the test.
- Check whether progression carries over; no carry-over policy has been announced in the available material.
- Report performance and balance issues, since Moon Studios specifically cited performance and class-system refinement as reasons for the delay.
What remains unconfirmed
- The names and full descriptions of all 24 classes
- The complete list of more than 280 traits
- Rules for unlocking, combining, changing or respecing classes
- How the six factions alter progression or multiplayer
- Whether beta progress transfers to the March 2027 release
- Final Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 availability
- PS5 pricing, physical format and regional retailer listings
Until Moon Studios publishes those details, the reliable takeaway is the scale and direction of the redesign rather than a finished class-by-class guide. The Wicked Inside deep dive and the December beta are the next authoritative checkpoints for mechanics and availability.
