No More Room in Hell 2 lists two core game modes: Scenario Mode and Survival. Scenario sends Responders through objective-driven missions that end in extraction; Survival is a separate experience with dedicated maps. Solo play is also available, but the cited official sources do not establish a separate Solo Mode progression system as released.
Which game modes are in No More Room in Hell 2?
The official Steam store listing identifies Scenario Mode and Survival as the game’s two distinct modes. The store also describes solo play, but that does not make it a third named core mode.

How does Scenario Mode work?
Scenario missions take Responders into large outbreak locations. Players arm themselves, scavenge, restore infrastructure, and work through a sequence of critical tasks before reaching an extraction window. The studio described the scenarios as large-scale maps culminating in a high-stakes extraction in its August 11, 2026 launch announcement.
The Steam listing names six maps, spanning settings in Maine and New York, industrial Pennsylvania, a hospital, and a government bunker. It does not provide a basis here for a precise mission-length estimate or a difficulty ranking.
Character loss, infection, and rewards
- Permanent death: The store says characters can die permanently, giving mission failure consequences beyond the current run.
- Infection: An infected character must find pills or gene therapy before turning against allies, according to the store description.
- Future runs: Successful missions can improve starting gear and perks.
What is Survival mode?
Survival is not described as another objective-and-extraction scenario. The official Armageddon announcement presents it as a distinct way to support the CRC and identifies dedicated environments separate from the Objective maps. That announcement names Flooded, NotLD, and Lighthouse as its three maps; this is the roster stated in that announcement, not confirmation that no subsequent update has altered it. The Autumn 2026 roadmap update, published September 16, says Survival will continue to receive support and that the developers are investigating an alternative scenario for the mode. An investigation is not a released variant or a firm delivery date.
Is Solo Mode a separate core mode?
Solo play exists, but the official Steam listing’s two named distinct modes are Scenario and Survival. The September 2026 roadmap discusses giving Solo Mode its own progression, describing planned development rather than confirming that separate progression is already available. Treat solo play as a way to play, not a third core mode based on these sources.

What changes are planned?
The September 16, 2026 roadmap says the first new Objective map is planned for early 2027, with more planned afterward. It also says Survival will continue to receive support while the studio investigates an alternative scenario. These are roadmap plans, not guarantees of release or timing.
