Yes. Star Wars Outlaws has a free demo on Nintendo Switch 2. Ubisoft says the sample offers up to three hours on Tatooine and in its orbit, including quests, speeder travel, contracts, exploration and space dogfights. It is a curated mid-game slice, not the opening of a new save, and progress from it does not transfer to the full game.
What the Star Wars Outlaws Switch 2 demo includes
The demo starts with the first quest, “The Heavy,” then grants access to Tatooine and the surrounding orbital space. Ubisoft has already unlocked selected upgrades and story beats so players can experience a broader range of activities than a conventional opening tutorial.
- Search for a mercenary and take on missions connected to the Hutt Cartel.
- Ride a speeder through the Tatooine dunes and travel beyond Mos Eisley.
- Accept contracts in Mos Eisley.
- Play Kessel Sabacc.
- Explore Tatooine with side quests after the introductory quest.
- Launch into orbit and fight in space dogfights.
The setting is deliberately focused: Tatooine and its orbit provide a self-contained tour of the game’s ground and space systems rather than access to every planet in the full release.

Ubisoft lists a maximum play time of up to three hours. That is a limit for the demo session, not a promise that every player will see identical content or finish every available activity. Players who spend time on contracts, Sabacc, exploration or combat may reach different stopping points.

Does demo progress carry over?
No. Saves and progress made in the Nintendo Switch 2 demo do not transfer to the purchased game. Treat the download as a trial: any upgrades, mission progress and discoveries must be started again in the full version.
Is Star Wars Outlaws open world on Nintendo Switch 2?
The full game is an open-world Star Wars adventure. Ubisoft describes it as the first open-world Star Wars game, set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, with Kay Vess and her companion Nix travelling between locations. On Switch 2, the demo demonstrates that design through free movement across Tatooine, activities outside Mos Eisley and access to orbit, but it is still only a limited slice of the complete game.

Who should try the demo?
The trial is most useful if you want to see how the Switch 2 version handles the game’s mix of third-person exploration, vehicle travel, faction missions, gambling and space combat before committing to the full release. Because saves are reset, it is better for evaluating the setting and systems than for making a head start in the campaign.
