Nintendo has not published a demonstrably exhaustive, live list of every GameShare-compatible game. Its current UK page highlights 13 titles, while a broader Nintendo Canada list reflects games identified around late January 2026 and may be out of date. Below are the titles those official sources identify, with their stated connection modes where available—and the quickest way to check a game before planning a session.

How to check whether a game supports GameShare

Nintendo says GameShare works only with compatible software. To see the expanding list, open Nintendo eShop and use Search/Browse > Filtered Search > Gameplay Style > GameShare. Check the individual game’s software information as well: support can depend on the mode, connection method, player count, and current availability.

Nintendo’s current UK GameShare page labels its 13 entries as “Featured games,” not a complete catalog. Its broader Canada list was gathered toward the end of January 2026; Nintendo cautions that additional games may have appeared since. The two lists below should therefore be read as confirmed examples, not proof that an unlisted game is incompatible. Nintendo UK’s GameShare featured games and Nintendo Canada’s dated GameShare list are useful reference points, but eShop filtering is the better current check.

Nintendo’s featured games and connection modes

The table reproduces the local and online-via-GameChat labels on Nintendo UK’s current featured page. Regional product names differ in some cases; for example, the UK page uses “51 Worldwide Games,” while Nintendo Canada calls the title “Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics.”

What hosts and guests need to know

  • A Nintendo Switch 2 must host. A Nintendo Switch cannot start a GameShare session.
  • Local guests may use Switch or Switch 2, depending on the game. Online sharing through GameChat requires Nintendo Switch 2 systems. Nintendo’s support FAQ also says the host and online guests need to be in the same GameChat room.
  • Guests stream the shared game temporarily. They do not need to wait for a software transfer, but access lasts only for the session in which the game is shared; it is not ownership.
  • Up to four Switch 2 or Switch systems may participate. The actual player count and supported connection options vary by game.
  • Game-specific restrictions still matter. A Switch 2-exclusive title may require accessories or controls that make sharing with a Switch unsuitable, and the guest’s restricted-software parental control setting still applies.

Nintendo explains the feature and its limits in its GameShare Overview and FAQ. Nintendo also confirmed that Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker supports local sharing to Switch 2 or Switch and online GameChat sharing to Switch 2 in its May 29, 2025 free-update announcement.

How to join a local GameShare session

  1. Make sure all participating consoles have the latest system update.
  2. On a guest console, select the GameShare icon from the HOME Menu.
  3. Choose Join GameShare, then select a local user.
  4. Select the session found on the console and follow the game’s prompts. The host’s steps vary by title.

For online play, use GameChat and confirm that the game supports online GameShare; a title’s local support does not imply online support. Check Nintendo’s support FAQ and the game’s software information for the applicable setup and player limit.

Check these details before choosing a game

  • Connection: Is support local, online through GameChat, or both?
  • Guest console: Can local guests join from Switch, or does the session require Switch 2?
  • Players and mode: Which mode is shareable, and how many players does it allow?
  • Controls and accessories: Does the title need hardware or a control scheme not available to a guest?
  • Current listing: Does the eShop GameShare filter and the game’s own software information show the support you need?

These checks matter because GameShare compatibility is not a single yes-or-no feature across all ways of playing. For example, Nintendo’s featured page marks Mario Tennis Fever as local-only, while Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is listed for both local and online sharing.

Examples of game-specific support

  • Nintendo’s October 20, 2025 article describes Chillin’ by the Fire as supporting up to four players at the campfire, and says Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury supports up to four players while Bowser’s Fury supports two-player play. See Nintendo’s GameShare examples for those details.
  • Nintendo’s January 30, 2026 article presents Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection as a local GameShare example, describes GameShare co-op for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, and identifies local or online support for Overcooked! 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The modes are described in Nintendo’s January 2026 article.
