For U.S. buyers, a bundle can be the better deal if it includes a game you want and you value its 90-day Nintendo Switch Online membership. At Nintendo’s suggested prices, the Mario Kart World bundle is $37.98 less than buying its included items separately. If you want a different game—or would not use the membership—compare the limited-time Choose Your Game offer and live retailer prices against the current $499.99 system price.
Current U.S. prices and what each bundle includes
Nintendo’s suggested retail price for the standalone Nintendo Switch 2 system is $499.99, effective September 1, 2026. That replaces the historical $449.99 launch price announced in April 2025. The bundle prices and contents below come from Nintendo of America announcements accessed October 9, 2026; suggested prices do not establish what a retailer currently charges or has in stock.

How to decide whether the bundle is worth it
Start with the current system price
Use $499.99 as the U.S. standalone-system reference, not the superseded $449.99 launch MSRP. The historical price appears in Nintendo’s April 2, 2025 launch announcement.
Choose by the game you would actually buy
The Mario Kart World and Sports Resort packages make sense only if you want their included games. The Choose Your Game option is relevant if you prefer Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, or Pokémon Pokopia and can still find the offer through a participating retailer. Nintendo’s listed regular prices in its May 2026 announcement are $79.99 for Mario Kart World and $69.99 each for Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon Pokopia. Those are Nintendo’s stated regular prices, not a guarantee of current retailer pricing; Nintendo says actual savings may vary.
#1 Best Overall
- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
- Race from one course to another through interconnected paths that span the world
- Traverse mountains, forests, cities, and more—with shifting weather patterns and a day/night cycle
Give the online membership value only if you will use it
The Mario Kart World and Sports Resort bundles include 90 days of an Individual Membership, and Nintendo’s stated savings include that membership. If you would not use Nintendo Switch Online, the advertised savings overstate the value the package has for you. Nintendo also says Mario Kart World online features require a Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account. See Nintendo’s bundle terms.
Compare the same game format
The Mario Kart World and Sports Resort bundles include full game downloads, not physical game copies. Nintendo says that beginning in May 2026, new Nintendo-published digital titles exclusive to Switch 2 have an MSRP different from their physical versions. Do not treat a physical-game price as the equivalent price for a bundle’s digital copy; check the applicable format and Nintendo’s Switch 2 game-pricing information.

What the advertised savings mean
Mario Kart World bundle
Nintendo’s stated comparison is $549.99 for the bundle versus $587.97 for the included items at their individual suggested retail prices, a $37.98 difference. Nintendo publishes that savings figure; it does not print every component price in the announcement, so the comparison here does not infer a separate game or membership price. Retailer discounts can change the result.
Choose Your Game bundle
At the suggested prices listed in Nintendo’s May 2026 announcement, the $499.99 system plus Mario Kart World at $79.99 would total $579.98; with Donkey Kong Bananza or Pokémon Pokopia at $69.99, the total would be $569.98. That makes the savings against those listed prices $79.99 or $69.99, respectively—not the announcement’s stated maximum of $29.99. Because those figures conflict, use Nintendo’s advertised “up to $29.99” as its published claim and verify the actual offer and retailer price before buying; do not rely on a reconstructed savings estimate as the offer’s terms. Nintendo’s offer announcement also says actual savings may vary.

Check the retailer offer before checkout
- Confirm the listed system price against Nintendo’s current $499.99 U.S. suggested price.
- Check that the bundle contains the game and format you want: the named September bundles include downloads, while Choose Your Game provides a download code.
- For Choose Your Game, verify that the retailer is participating, the promotion is still active, and the selected game is eligible; dates vary and the offer is while supplies last.
- Compare the retailer’s current prices for the same system, game format, and any membership you would actually buy separately. Nintendo’s announcements do not identify the cheapest retailer or confirm live inventory.
- Review the seller, stock status, total at checkout, and offer end date immediately before purchase.
Which option fits which buyer?
- Choose the Mario Kart World bundle if you want Mario Kart World, will use the included online membership, and the retailer’s current price preserves a worthwhile saving.
- Choose the Sports Resort bundle if that is the game you want and its announced October 22, 2026 launch timing and current retailer availability work for you.
- Look for Choose Your Game if one of its three games is your pick and a participating retailer still has the limited-time offer.
- Buy separately if you want a different game, prefer a physical copy where available, do not value the included membership, or find better current prices on the components.
