Nintendo Japan is reportedly planning another repair-price increase for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch consoles from November 16, 2026. The date comes from an October 16 Reddit report, not a Nintendo announcement, and the new yen amounts have not been published in the available official material. Owners should therefore treat the increase as provisional until Nintendo posts an updated repair table.
What is changing, and when?
The reported change applies to products received by Nintendo Japan from November 16, 2026. The report attributes the revision to higher repair-parts costs. It does not provide a confirmed item-by-item schedule for Switch 2, Switch OLED, the standard Switch or Switch Lite.
That distinction matters: Nintendo has not yet confirmed the reported date or amounts in an official notice available for this article. Until it does, a repair quote or the current official reference table remains more reliable than a reported future price.

Nintendo’s Japan repair page describes its figures as reference prices, including tax. The following published Switch amounts are useful for judging how much a future increase could affect an older console.

These are not the alleged November prices. They are the documented baseline only. The available official search result did not expose a complete Switch 2 item-by-item table, although Nintendo’s Switch 2 support hub provides a dedicated repair reference-price page and parts-support information.
Why the final bill can exceed Nintendo’s listed amount
A reference price applies to the listed part when that part resolves the fault. Nintendo says it may use additional parts if the diagnosed problem requires them and charge a different amount. Liquid exposure, a drop or a console modification can lead to multiple replacements, so the final bill can be higher than the single-part figure.

- Water or liquid damage: corrosion or several failed components may require more than one replacement.

Ask Nintendo for the applicable estimate after inspection rather than assuming that a screen, board or charging-port figure is a guaranteed total.
Switch 2 repair pricing is still the key unknown
There is no confirmed November 2026 Switch 2 price list in the material currently available. That means it is not possible to state how much a Switch 2 board, display, charging port or Joy-Con-related repair will cost after the reported change. Any article or post giving exact future Switch 2 figures without a Nintendo table should be treated cautiously.

When Nintendo publishes the revision, compare each model and component in the same table: Switch 2, OLED, standard Switch and Lite; board, screen, charging-port and Joy-Con work; and the prices before and after the change. Also check whether the estimate is covered by warranty or is an out-of-warranty charge.
Japan console prices already rose in May 2026
Nintendo separately raised Japanese-language hardware MSRPs on May 25, 2026. Nintendo said the change reflected market conditions and the global business outlook.

This hardware announcement is separate from the reported repair-fee change. It does not prove that repair prices increased, but it does raise the replacement-cost floor for owners deciding whether to fix an older console.
Repair or replace: a practical decision process
- Identify the exact model. Record whether the console is a Switch 2, OLED (HEG-001), standard Switch (HAC-001) or Lite.
- Describe all symptoms. Include charging behavior, display output, stick or button faults, liquid exposure and any previous modification.
- Check warranty status. A covered repair may have a different out-of-pocket result from the published reference amount.
- Request an inspection or estimate. Use Nintendo Japan’s current repair channel and wait for the diagnosed amount rather than relying on a reported future fee.
- Compare with replacement. Use the current Japanese MSRP for the model you would buy, not the pre-May price, and include any accessories or data-transfer needs.
- Decide before shipping. If the estimate approaches the cost of a replacement and the console has additional wear, replacement may be the lower-risk option; a modest single-part repair can still make sense for a newer or well-maintained unit.
Prepare a console before sending it to Nintendo
Nintendo’s Japan shipping instructions specifically address customer-installed protective sheets and covers. Remove those items before sending a console for service, and follow the packing and data instructions in the current repair guidance. A screen protector can help prevent scratches during normal use, but it must not be left on when Nintendo’s instructions require removal for shipment.

What Switch owners should watch next
- An official Nintendo notice confirming whether November 16, 2026 is the effective receipt date.
- A revised reference-price table showing Switch 2 and legacy Switch components.
- Clarification of how warranty cases, liquid damage, impact damage and modifications are handled in estimates.
- Whether the listed amounts are unchanged reference prices or include separate inspection, shipping or additional-parts charges.
