Choose Ninja. SharkNinja’s current US air-fryer catalog is Ninja-branded; its nine-product listing does not show a Shark-branded air fryer. If a retailer advertises a “Shark air fryer,” verify the model number, manufacturer, voltage and warranty before paying. For most households, the practical choice is between a dual-basket Ninja Foodi DZ550 and the smaller single-basket Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL AF181.
Buy the DZ550 when you routinely cook two foods with different temperatures or want both foods ready together. Buy the AF181 when you mainly cook one food at a time, have less counter space or want the lower listed price. The prices below are live catalog figures recorded on October 17, 2026, not permanent prices.
Is a Shark air fryer the same as a Ninja air fryer?
Not according to the current US manufacturer catalog. SharkNinja is the corporate company, but its air fryers are presented under the Ninja name. The current catalog lists nine air-fryer products and does not show a Shark-branded model (SharkNinja catalog, accessed October 17, 2026).

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
A “Shark air fryer” search can therefore mean several things: a retailer category label, confusion between the SharkNinja company name and the Ninja product brand, or a listing whose manufacturer details have been entered incorrectly. Do not rely on the search phrase alone. Open the listing and check the exact model number, the name on the rating label, the plug and voltage, the included baskets, and the warranty issuer.
#1 Best Overall
- SMART FINISH & MATCH COOK: DualZone Technology allows you to choose between the Smart Finish feature, which unlocks cooking 2 foods 2 ways that finish at the same time, and the and a Match Cook button to easily copy settings across zones for full 8-qt capacity.
- 6-IN-1 FUNCTIONALITY: Includes 6 versatile cooking programs: Air Fry, Air Broil, Roast, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate. The baskets can be washed in the dishwasher or by hand.
- XL CAPACITY: The 8-quart air fryer capacity lets you fit mains and sides at the same time for making quick family meals, or up to 4 lbs. of French fries or chicken wings.
- SEPARATE HEATING ZONES: 2 independent 4-quart zones have their own cooking baskets, cyclonic fans, and rapid heaters.
- EASY CLEANING: Easy-to-clean baskets and dishwasher-safe crisper plates.
This distinction matters because baskets, crisper plates and other replacement parts are model-specific. A basket advertised for a Ninja dual-zone unit should not be assumed to fit another Ninja model, much less an unidentified product sold as “Shark.”
Quick recommendation
| If you care most about | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Two foods cooking at different temperatures | Ninja Foodi DZ550 | Two independent 5-quart baskets can run separate settings. |
| Both foods finishing together | Ninja Foodi DZ550 | DualZone Smart Finish coordinates the end times. |
| One food or one batch at a time | Ninja AF181 | A single basket is simpler and occupies less space. |
| Lower listed purchase price | Ninja AF181 | The listed US price is $179.99 versus $249.99 for the DZ550. |
| Large family batches | Ninja Foodi DZ550 | Its stated total capacity is 10 quarts, split between two baskets. |
| Smallest appliance footprint | Usually a single-basket Ninja | Side-by-side dual drawers need more width; measure your counter before ordering. |
No authoritative published statistic establishes that one brand cooks better than the other. The useful comparison is the configuration and features of the exact model, not the words “Shark” and “Ninja” in a listing title.
Ninja Foodi DZ550: the dual-basket choice
What you get
The Ninja Foodi DZ550 is a 10-quart dual air fryer with two independent 5-quart nonstick baskets. It has six programs: Air Fry, Air Broil, Roast, Bake, Reheat and Dehydrate. The controls include DualZone Smart Finish for synchronized completion and Match Cook for applying the same settings to both zones. An integrated Foodi Smart Thermometer monitors food temperature, and IQ Boost is designed to direct more power when the appliance is running both zones.
The manufacturer’s product page lists 1,690 watts, a weight of 21.61 pounds and dimensions of 18.94 × 15.39 × 14.8 inches. The listed US price is $249.99 and the listed warranty is one year (SharkNinja DZ550 product page, accessed October 17, 2026).
Why the two zones are useful
Separate baskets let you cook a protein and a side with different temperatures, times or programs. For example, chicken can use a temperature suited to the meat while vegetables use a shorter, hotter cycle. Smart Finish delays the shorter program so both drawers signal completion together. Match Cook is useful when you want two full baskets of the same food without entering the settings twice.
The thermometer is valuable when doneness depends on internal temperature rather than a fixed timer. It does not remove the need to follow food-safety guidance or to position the probe correctly; it simply gives the appliance a measured temperature input instead of relying only on elapsed time.
Trade-offs
The DZ550 is a substantial countertop appliance. Its listed width is nearly 19 inches, and the side-by-side layout needs clearance for both drawers. A 10-quart headline capacity also does not mean one undivided 10-quart cavity: each basket holds 5 quarts, so a single large item must fit in one drawer.

- AIR CRISP TECHNOLOGY: 400℉ superheated air surrounds food for hot, crispy results with little to no oil.
- 4-IN-1 FUNCTIONALITY: Features 4 customizable cooking functions—Air Fry, Roast, Reheat, and Dehydrate for maximum versatility. A powerful1750-watt air fryer that’s built for everyday use.
- LARGE CAPACITY: The 5-QT nonstick basket and crisper plate fit up to 4 lbs of French fries or 5 lbs of chicken wings.
- GUILT-FREE FRIED FOODS: Up to 75% less fat than traditional air frying methods. Tested against hand-cut, deep-fried French fries.
- FROZEN TO CRISPY: Cook frozen foods in just minutes for an extra-crispy finish.
It costs more than the AF181 and has more controls to learn. If you usually cook one small portion, the second zone can be unused capacity that still occupies counter and storage space.
Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL AF181: the simpler single basket
Specifications and functions
The AF181 has one 6.5-quart basket and six functions. Ninja lists MaxCrisp technology reaching up to 450°F, a capacity of up to 9 pounds of wings, and a nonstick, dishwasher-safe crisper plate and basket. Its listed US price is $179.99 (SharkNinja AF181 product page, accessed October 17, 2026).
The six functions give you more than a basic timed air-fry cycle, but the appliance remains straightforward: one basket, one set of temperature and time controls, and no need to coordinate two programs. The 450°F MaxCrisp setting is a maximum capability, not a promise that every food should be cooked at that temperature.
Who should choose it
- One- or two-person households that normally cook a single food.
- Anyone who values a smaller, less complicated appliance.
- Shoppers whose budget is closer to the AF181’s listed $179.99 price.
- People who prefer loading one basket and washing fewer removable parts.
The AF181 cannot run two independent cooking zones. You can cook a main and a side sequentially, but there is no separate drawer, Smart Finish synchronization or Match Cook operation.

Single basket or dual basket: how to decide
Choose dual baskets when timing is the problem
A dual-zone appliance earns its extra width and cost when your meals regularly contain foods with incompatible cooking instructions. A main dish may need a lower temperature and longer time while a side needs a short, hotter cycle. With one basket, you either compromise, cook in batches or let one food sit while the other finishes. With the DZ550, each drawer can use its own program and Smart Finish can align the end.
Dual baskets also help when family members want different foods. You can run two portions with separate settings rather than mixing foods that need different temperatures or shaking schedules. The benefit is workflow flexibility, not automatically better browning.
Rank #3
- 4-IN-1 VERSATILITY: Includes 4 versatile cooking programs: Air Fry, Roast, Reheat, and Dehydrate.
- WIDE TEMPERATURE RANGE: 105°F-400°F allows you to gently remove moisture from foods or quickly cook and crisp foods with convection heat.
- AIR FRY FAVORITES: Now enjoy guilt-free food. Air fry with up to 75% less fat than traditional frying methods. Tested against hand-cut, deep-fried French fries.
- FAMILY-SIZED CAPACITY: 4-quart ceramic-coated nonstick basket and crisper plate fit 2 lbs of French fries.
- DEHYDRATE: Create flat, chip-like dehydrated foods for fun, homemade snacks. The combination of low fan speed and low temperature enables thorough dehydration.
Choose one basket when simplicity is the priority
A single-basket model is usually easier to place, load and clean. It is a sensible match for one food at a time, smaller portions or a kitchen where a nearly 19-inch-wide dual appliance would block another work area. The AF181’s 6.5-quart capacity is still substantial for a single basket, and Ninja’s 9-pound wings claim indicates that it is not limited to snack-size portions.
If you often need two foods at once, however, a single basket’s lower purchase price can be offset by extra cooking cycles and more waiting. Decide from your normal meal pattern rather than from the largest capacity number on the box.
Counter space, storage and electrical requirements
Measure the real installation space
For the DZ550, measure width, depth and height with the drawers open, not just the appliance’s closed dimensions. Leave the ventilation clearance specified in the manual, and make sure the drawer handles do not collide with a wall or adjacent appliance. A side-by-side dual model is wider than a single basket; a stacked model can use less width but more height.
The AF181’s exact dimensions should be confirmed on the current regional product page before purchase because the cited product details do not state them. Do not substitute a retailer’s package dimensions for the appliance footprint.
Check voltage and plug
The prices and specifications above are for the US listings. Air fryers contain high-power heating elements, so voltage, frequency, plug type and wattage matter. A US 1,690-watt DZ550 should not be treated as automatically compatible with a different country’s outlet or a travel adapter. Buy the regional model intended for your electrical system and confirm the rating label before use.

Cleaning, materials and replacement parts
Both models use nonstick cooking surfaces. The AF181 page specifically states that its basket and crisper plate are dishwasher-safe. For the DZ550, remove crumbs and grease after each use and follow the exact manual’s dishwasher instructions rather than assuming that every coated part can go in a dishwasher.
- Let baskets and plates cool before washing or soaking them.
- Use a soft sponge and nonabrasive detergent to protect the nonstick coating.
- Keep the heating element and interior free of grease buildup; wipe them only as directed in the manual.
- Do not use metal utensils or abrasive pads on coated surfaces.
- Record the model number before ordering a replacement basket, crisper plate or probe.
Replacement-part availability and compatibility vary by model and country. Verify the part number with the manufacturer or an authorized seller; a visually similar drawer is not proof of fit.

Price, warranty and value
The listed US prices are $249.99 for the DZ550 and $179.99 for the AF181, a $70 difference in the cited catalog snapshot. Those figures can change with promotions, stock and retailer pricing, and they do not establish the price in another country. Recheck the live product page at checkout.
The DZ550 page lists a one-year warranty. The cited AF181 details do not state a warranty term, so confirm it in the current regional warranty documentation before comparing protection. Check who handles warranty service, whether registration is required, and whether the warranty covers accessories such as baskets or the thermometer.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Value depends on how often you use the second zone. If synchronized two-food meals replace frequent oven use or multiple batches, the DZ550’s premium can be justified by saved time. If the second drawer would sit empty, the AF181’s lower price and simpler operation are the more rational purchase.
Other current Ninja formats worth considering
The catalog is broader than the two models above. It includes single-basket products, side-by-side DualZone units, vertically stacked DoubleStack models and Crispi models that use glass cooking containers. The catalog identifies an 8-quart Crispi DualZone glass model and 8- and 10-quart DoubleStack models with their own capacities, functions and prices (SharkNinja catalog, accessed October 17, 2026).
Glass-container designs
A glass cooking vessel may appeal if you want to see the food or prefer glass to a coated drawer. Confirm the vessel’s handling instructions, storage requirements and replacement cost. “Glass” does not make a model interchangeable with a basket-style Ninja.
Stacked designs
A DoubleStack layout can be useful when counter width is limited, but it shifts the space requirement upward. Measure overhead cabinets and make sure both drawers can be opened safely. Compare the stated capacity of each drawer, not just the combined number.
Other DualZone models
Another DualZone product may have a different footprint, capacity, program set or price than the DZ550. Use the exact model number when comparing baskets, accessories, wattage and warranty; do not assume that every product carrying “DualZone” has the same dimensions or thermometer.
How to check a listing advertised as a “Shark air fryer”
- Find the model number. A legitimate listing should identify a model, not only a brand phrase.
- Check the manufacturer field and rating label. Confirm whether the appliance is made by SharkNinja, another company or an unverified seller.
- Match the model to an official regional product page. Compare capacity, functions, dimensions, wattage and included accessories.
- Verify voltage and plug. Do this before relying on a retailer’s shipping destination.
- Read the warranty terms. Identify the warranty issuer and service region.
- Confirm parts support. Check that baskets, plates and probes are available for that exact model.
- Recheck price and stock at checkout. Catalog prices are live figures and may be promotional or region-specific.
If the seller cannot provide these details, treat the “Shark” label as a warning to investigate, not as evidence that the item is an official Shark-branded air fryer.
Which one should you buy?
Buy the Ninja Foodi DZ550 if:
- You regularly cook a main and side at different temperatures.
- You want two foods to finish at the same time.
- You need two 5-quart cooking zones and can accommodate an appliance listed at 18.94 × 15.39 × 14.8 inches.
- You will use the thermometer, Smart Finish or Match Cook often enough to justify the higher price.
Buy the Ninja AF181 if:
- You usually cook one food or one batch at a time.
- You have limited counter or storage space.
- You prefer a single set of controls and fewer removable parts.
- You want the lower listed US price of $179.99 and do not need two independent zones.
Look beyond these two models if:
- You need a stacked layout to preserve counter width.
- You specifically want glass cooking containers.
- You need a different capacity, function set or regional electrical specification.
The central buying decision is not “Shark versus Ninja.” It is whether your cooking routine benefits from two independently controlled baskets. In the current US catalog, Ninja is the relevant air-fryer brand; select the model format that matches your meals, space and electrical system, then verify the live price, stock, warranty and parts support for your country.
