Fundamentum Frontier Advisors (F2A) has secured ₹3,000 crore in subscriptions for its growth-stage AI and deeptech fund, according to a Moneycontrol report published October 13, 2026. Investors approved increasing the fund’s corpus cap to ₹3,500 crore, but the remaining ₹500 crore was still under negotiation. The report therefore describes a fundraising update—not a completed ₹3,500 crore raise or confirmed final close.
What do the ₹3,000 crore and ₹3,500 crore figures mean?
The ₹3,000 crore figure is the amount of subscriptions reported as secured. The ₹3,500 crore figure is the expanded corpus cap approved by investors. F2A founder and general partner Ashish Kumar told Moneycontrol that the final ₹500 crore was still being negotiated. The report does not establish that the fund had subscribed the entire cap or completed its final close. Moneycontrol
The fund’s initial target was ₹2,000 crore, including a ₹1,000 crore greenshoe, according to the same report. The ₹3,000 crore in subscriptions is above that initial target; the approved ₹3,500 crore cap sets a higher ceiling.
Who invested, and what is reported about Nilekani’s contribution?
Nandan Nilekani is identified as an anchor investor. Moneycontrol reported that he contributed ₹200 crore. A separate PTI account carried by Rediff also identifies him as the anchor investor and says he took the maximum allocation reserved for family trusts, but it does not specify a rupee amount. The ₹200 crore figure is therefore attributable to Moneycontrol, not independently confirmed in both reports. Moneycontrol · PTI via Rediff

What does F2A plan to invest in?
F2A is targeting growth-stage AI and deeptech businesses. Kumar told Moneycontrol that the fund plans to invest in 12–15 companies over the next two to three years, with cheque sizes of ₹100–200 crore. Those are planned investments, not capital already deployed. The report also says F2A is tracking more than 100 companies, around 50 of which it currently considers investable, and has identified three possible investments for the next quarter. Moneycontrol

F2A general partner Debraj Banerjee described the investment approach to Moneycontrol as evaluating a product roadmap and systems-first approach rather than underwriting a standalone technology. This frames the fund’s stated emphasis on the broader product and system a company is building. Moneycontrol
How do the October figures compare with the launch plan?
Launch coverage in Mint on May 26, 2026 described a ₹2,000 crore SEBI-registered Category II AIF alongside a ₹1,000 crore offshore vehicle. It reported launch-stage plans for 12–15 portfolio companies, with first cheques of ₹50–150 crore and an average investment of about ₹90 crore. These are figures from the launch report; they should not be combined with the later October report’s ₹100–200 crore cheque range as if they were one set of contemporaneous terms. The available reports establish the difference in dates, but do not explain its cause. Mint
