Open Main Menu > Character > Mount to manage mounts in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds. Select an owned mount to equip or summon it, then confirm the active mount in gameplay. Training and enhancement are performed from the same Mount screen, but a training attempt can succeed, super succeed, or fail. An equipped mount contributes 100% of its stats; an unequipped mount contributes 30%.
This guide explains the complete workflow, what training actually changes, how switching differs from cosmetic customization, and what to do when the interface or a training result does not match your expectation.

What mounts do and why training matters
Mounts serve two practical purposes: movement and character statistics. Netmarble describes them this way: “Use a mount to travel to distant places or move faster during quests.” The movement benefit is immediate when you summon one, while the statistic benefit depends on whether the mount is equipped.
An equipped mount is the active choice for your character and contributes its full listed statistics. Every other mount in your collection still contributes, but only at 30% of its stats. That means collecting several mounts can help your overall attributes even when you are riding a different one, while the mount you deliberately equip has the largest individual effect.
#1 Best Overall
Training is the system used to improve a mount rather than merely change its appearance. The game can report three outcomes: success, super success, or failure. A button that starts training is therefore an attempt, not a guaranteed increase. Check the result after the animation or result screen before assuming the mount became stronger.
Mounts are divided into six grades, from 1★ through 6★. Each grade has a maximum stat limit. Upgrading a mount can raise that limit, allowing later training to push the mount farther than the original ceiling. The exact upgrade thresholds and material quantities are not fixed in the available guide information, so use the values shown by your current game client.
Equip or summon an owned mount
The current official navigation path is Main Menu > Character > Mount. The labels may receive small interface changes in later client updates, but the Mount screen remains the place to select an active mount and access its enhancement controls.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Open the main menu. From gameplay, open the game’s main menu.
- Enter Character. Choose Character, then open Mount.
- Select an owned mount. Tap or click a mount that is already in your collection. Owned mounts expose the control used to equip or summon them.
- Confirm the selection. Use the displayed equip or summon control and verify that the intended mount is marked as active.
- Check it in the field. Return to gameplay and use the mount control. The appearance and movement should match the mount you selected.
If the mount is not owned, the selection screen does not provide an immediate equip action. A secondary procedural guide reports that the game instead shows the mount’s source or requirements. Treat those requirements as interface information that can change; read the current in-game panel rather than relying on an old list.

How to change mounts without losing your training
Changing mounts means selecting a different owned mount on the Mount screen and making it active. It does not delete, reset, or transfer the previous mount’s training. Each mount keeps its own grade, statistics, and enhancement state in your collection.
- Return to Main Menu > Character > Mount.
- Choose another mount that is marked as owned.
- Press the current equip or summon control and confirm.
- Summon the mount after returning to gameplay to check that the switch took effect.
The 100%/30% distinction makes the choice important even when you own several trained mounts. The active mount supplies its full statistics; the rest supply their reduced passive contribution. If you are comparing two mounts for a difficult activity, compare the displayed statistics after each is made active rather than judging by appearance or grade alone.
Train and enhance a mount
Training is available from the selected mount’s controls on the Mount screen. The exact resource names, quantities, and upgrade thresholds are not established in the published guide text, and they can change with updates. Before confirming, read the material and currency preview shown in your client.

- Select the mount you intend to improve. Confirm its name, grade, and current statistics. This prevents spending resources on a different mount in the roster.
- Open the training or enhancement control. Stay on the selected mount’s page; appearance controls are separate.
- Review the cost and materials. Check the current quantities and any warning about the attempt’s result or available chance.
- Start training. Confirm only after verifying that the correct mount and resources are shown.
- Read the result. The outcome can be success, super success, or failure. Record the new statistics and any change to the remaining training limit.
- Repeat only after checking the new state. If the mount reached its grade’s limit, look for the upgrade option that raises the ceiling before trying to train again.
A successful attempt should update the mount’s displayed statistics. A super success is a distinct result and may produce a better increase than an ordinary success, but the available official description does not specify a universal increase for either outcome. A failure is a normal possible result, not evidence that the wrong mount was selected.

Grades, limits, and upgrades
The six grades run from 1★ to 6★. Grade is not simply a cosmetic label: each grade has its own maximum stat limit. When a mount reaches that limit, additional training may stop producing progress until the mount is upgraded.
| Mount state | What the game establishes | What to check in the client |
|---|---|---|
| 1★–6★ grade | Every grade has a maximum stat limit. | The current limit shown on the mount detail panel. |
| Upgraded mount | An upgrade can increase the grade-based maximum. | The upgrade requirement, resulting limit, and any confirmation warning. |
| At the current ceiling | Further training is constrained by that limit. | Whether an upgrade control is available before spending more training resources. |
Because the guide does not publish a complete material table, do not rely on a remembered quantity from another version or region. The values shown in your client are the authoritative cost for that attempt. This is especially important after balance changes or when playing on a different service region.
Training versus appearance customization
Three options can change how a mount looks without being part of training: decorations, dyes, and skins. They are separate appearance systems. Applying one does not itself train the mount, raise its grade, or increase its stat ceiling.
| Action | Primary purpose | Does it train the mount? |
|---|---|---|
| Training or enhancement | Attempts to improve mount statistics. | Yes; the attempt can succeed, super succeed, or fail. |
| Decoration | Adds a visual accessory or ornament. | No. |
| Dye | Changes an available color option. | No. |
| Skin | Applies a different visual model or theme. | No. |
| Equip or summon | Chooses which owned mount you ride and which contributes 100% of its stats. | No; it changes the active selection. |
If your goal is more power, open training or enhancement and inspect the statistics. If your goal is a different color or model, use the appearance controls instead. Keeping those paths separate prevents you from spending time looking for a stat increase in a cosmetic menu.

What to do when a mount will not equip
The mount is not in your owned list
Only owned mounts can be equipped or summoned. Open the mount entry and read the source or requirement panel. Acquisition conditions and availability are subject to change, so use the current text in the game rather than an outdated checklist.
The wrong mount appears after switching
Return to Character > Mount, verify the active marker on the intended mount, confirm the selection, and summon again. If the field still shows the previous mount, close and reopen the Mount screen, then check whether the client saved the change before leaving the menu.
The training button is unavailable
Check that you selected the intended owned mount, that the required materials are present, and that the mount has not reached its current grade limit. If the panel offers an upgrade, the ceiling may need to be raised first. Do not infer a material name or quantity from another player; the current client is the reliable source.

Read the result carefully. Training can fail, so a completed attempt does not guarantee a higher value. If the result says success or super success but the number appears unchanged, reopen the mount details and compare the before-and-after values; interface refreshes can lag behind the result animation.
Choosing an active mount and spending resources
Use the mount with the most useful current statistics as your active mount when performance matters, because only that mount receives the 100% contribution. Keep other trained mounts in your collection: their 30% contribution still counts, so switching away from one does not make its investment worthless.
- Before training: verify the mount name, grade, current limit, and material preview.
- Before upgrading: confirm that the upgrade raises the ceiling and note the exact requirement shown in the client.
- After a success: check the new statistic and remaining limit.
- After a failure: do not assume the mount was reset; inspect its details and decide whether another attempt is worth the displayed cost.
- Before cosmetic changes: use decoration, dye, or skin menus when the objective is appearance rather than power.
There is no guaranteed training route in the documented mechanics. Budget resources around the possibility of failure and treat a super success as a possible outcome, not a promised multiplier.
Mount availability and current rosters
Mount rosters are time-sensitive. A September 2026 update note announced a new Runic Reaper Howl mount for that month, illustrating why older lists can omit recently added mounts. The announcement does not establish that the mount remains obtainable indefinitely or that its acquisition method is unchanged. Check the current in-game Mount screen and the latest Netmarble announcements for availability, source, and requirements.

The same caution applies to interface labels, training costs, and grade limits. The core path—Main Menu > Character > Mount—and the 100% equipped/30% unequipped contribution rule are the stable mechanics described by the guide, while specific roster and cost details can be updated.
