The NexPhone is a smartphone from Nex Computer marketed to run Android, Debian Linux for desktop use, and optional Windows 11 on Arm. But the delivery picture has changed: the Q3 2026 shipping estimate reported when it was announced has passed, and Nex Computer’s product page, as viewed on October 12, 2026, lists reservations without a replacement delivery date. That does not establish a formally announced delay; it means the earlier estimate is no longer a reliable current ship date.
What is the NexPhone?
Nex Computer presents the NexPhone as a phone that can also be used for desktop workflows. Its current product page describes NexOS multi-boot with Android and Debian Linux, plus optional Windows 11 on Arm. These are the manufacturer’s advertised capabilities, not independently verified test results.
The systems are not described as three operating systems running simultaneously. January 2026 launch coverage said switching to Windows requires rebooting. Windows Central also clarified that this is not a return of Windows Phone or Windows 10 Mobile: the device uses a custom tile-like interface for Windows 11.

On January 21, 2026, Android Authority and Windows Central reported an expected Q3 2026 shipment. That quarter ended on September 30. Nex Computer’s product page, viewed October 12, 2026, still solicited reservations but did not show a revised delivery window.

So the earlier estimate has elapsed, but the available information does not confirm that Nex Computer formally announced a delay or explain its cause. A new ship date remains unresolved; buyers should not treat the January estimate as a current commitment.
What has changed since the launch reports?
The manufacturer’s current listing differs from the January coverage on two visible details. The figures below are claims from their respective sources, not a confirmed final shipping specification.

The current listing also describes a $199 reservation amount toward its displayed $599 offer. Reservation and final purchase terms may change, so check the manufacturer’s live page before committing. The difference between the old reports and current listing means the earlier price and Android version should not be treated as the final shipping terms.

How are Android, Linux and Windows supposed to work?
Android for phone use
Android is the phone’s mobile operating system. Nex Computer’s current page lists Android 17; January coverage described Android 16. Neither listing by itself establishes which version will ship on a customer’s device.

Debian Linux for desktop workflows
The manufacturer says the NexPhone can boot into Debian Linux for desktop use and that Android and Linux can share folders. Using a phone as a desktop still requires an external display and suitable input devices; the product description is not evidence that every desktop app or peripheral will work as expected.
Optional Windows 11 on Arm
Windows 11 on Arm is presented as an optional boot configuration, not as Windows Phone. January launch reporting says booting into Windows requires a restart, so it is a separate session rather than an app-like environment alongside Android. App compatibility and performance for specific workloads are not established by the product listing.

What hardware does Nex Computer advertise?
The current product page lists these specifications. They are manufacturer-listed values, not independent measurements or a performance review.
- Qualcomm QCM6490 processor
- 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage
- 6.58-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate
- 5,000mAh battery
- MicroSD expansion
Nex Computer also refers to support through 2036 for the Qualcomm platform program. That vendor statement should not be read as a guarantee that Nex Computer will deliver NexPhone software updates through 2036.

What would you need to use it like a computer?
For desktop-style use, the phone needs an external display and input setup. Nex Computer advertises a five-port USB-C hub as included, so a separate hub is not necessarily an additional purchase. Confirm the package contents and the compatibility of any display or peripherals before relying on them.
The company also positions the NexDock lapdock as an optional display, keyboard and trackpad accessory for a laptop-style setup. Its page lists a starting price of $229; that is an accessory price, not the cost of a complete NexPhone setup. A lapdock is an alternative to assembling a separate monitor, keyboard and mouse, not proof that the phone can replace a laptop for every task.
Can the NexPhone replace a laptop?
It may suit someone who wants one device to switch between phone use and selected desktop workflows, but the available information does not show that it can replace a laptop generally. The key practical trade-offs are:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Switching: Windows is a reboot-selected option according to January reporting, rather than a simultaneous mobile mode.
- Setup: Desktop use calls for an external screen and input method, whether separately assembled or provided by an optional lapdock.
- Performance: Listed processor and memory specifications do not establish sustained performance for demanding workloads; no independent benchmark results are provided here.
- Software support: A platform-support statement is not the same as a device-specific update commitment.
- Purchase certainty: The former Q3 2026 estimate has passed, and the current page shows no replacement delivery window.
Until hands-on testing and final shipping terms are available, it is more accurate to view the NexPhone as an unusual multi-OS phone with an advertised desktop mode than as a proven laptop substitute.
