The NexiGo PJ40 Gen 3 is a native 1080p LCD projector with a manufacturer-listed 1.47:1 throw ratio, manual focus, and two HDMI inputs. Its brightness is not consistently reported: NexiGo lists 700 ANSI lumens, while RTINGS lists 600. The distinction matters when comparing it with brighter variants or deciding whether it suits your room.
What the PJ40 Gen 3 is—and what it is not
The PJ40 Gen 3 uses LCD display technology and an LED light source. NexiGo specifies a native resolution of 1920 × 1080. Any separate support for higher-resolution local playback should not be mistaken for a native 4K panel. NexiGo’s PJ40 support page lists the specifications and manuals.
NexiGo calls the product style “D65 Calibrated (Gen 3)” and claims calibration to D65/D75 temperature with ΔE<3. That is a manufacturer claim, not an independent calibration result.
How bright is it?
The available figures conflict: NexiGo’s support specifications list 700 ANSI lumens, while RTINGS’ PJ40 Gen 3 comparison lists 600 ANSI lumens. Neither figure is an independent measurement made for this article, so treat brightness comparisons cautiously. RTINGS’ PJ40 Gen 3 review and comparison was originally reviewed November 13, 2024, with its test bench updated August 18, 2026.

The cited sources do not establish an independently tested ideal screen size or ambient-light condition for this model. Consider your room’s light and intended image size, and avoid assuming the larger manufacturer-listed image size will remain equally practical in every setting.
How far from the wall does it need to be?
NexiGo lists a 1.47:1 throw ratio, an image range of 50–300 inches, and a projection distance of 4.72–30.18 feet. As a rough calculation from that ratio, distance is about 1.47 times the image width: a 100-inch 16:9 image is approximately 7.2 feet wide, suggesting roughly 10.6 feet from lens to screen. This is an estimate, not a placement test; confirm the distance and image geometry with the PJ40 manual and your room layout.

Focus is manual. NexiGo lists automatic vertical keystone correction up to ±30° and manual horizontal correction up to ±20°. Keystone adjusts image geometry; it is not optical lens shift. For the cleanest rectangular image, place the projector square to the screen before relying on digital correction.
Ports, wireless features, and everyday setup
NexiGo’s specification table lists Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi, two 10W speakers, two HDMI inputs, two USB inputs, a 3.5 mm AV input, line out, and RJ45. It also documents wired iPhone/iPad connection, screen casting, and Bluetooth audio. These are manufacturer-listed capabilities rather than independently tested results.

For zoom adjustment, NexiGo gives the path Settings > Projection > Zoom Adjust. Its support guidance recommends switching Wi-Fi from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz if an external Bluetooth device has synchronization problems. The same guidance gives 39 dB at 1.6 feet with fans at full speed as an example; noise depends on distance and fan setting, so it is not a universal operating-noise figure. NexiGo recommends cleaning the removable dust cover monthly.
Does the PJ40 Gen 3 have Netflix?
Do not assume the Gen 3 includes licensed Netflix or other streaming apps. RTINGS distinguishes the PJ40 Gen 3 from the PJ40 Ultra, and its comparison lists licensed Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video support for the Ultra—not the Gen 3. The PJ40 Pro and Ultra are separate variants, not alternate names for Gen 3. Check the exact model and the streaming method you plan to use before buying.

Ceiling mounting and installation
NexiGo says the projector can be ceiling-mounted after removing its four corner feet. The support page gives M5 × 13.5 mm mounting holes, spaced 10.9 inches diagonally, 8 inches horizontally, and 7.3 inches vertically. Match the mount’s hole pattern and fasteners to those dimensions; the available specifications do not identify a particular mount.
