Repair Kits were described in an Amazon Games release note as tier-matched items for repairing gear, but that description comes from an alpha-era update on January 18, 2021. It does not confirm how Repair Kits, durability, or crafting work in the live build today. If you still own New World: Aeternum, check the current in-game crafting recipe and item interface before relying on older instructions.
How Repair Kits were described
In its January 18, 2021 release note, Amazon Games said Repair Kits would repair items of a corresponding tier. The note described four Repair Kit tiers and said recipes had been added to many crafting trade skills. Its stated purpose included letting crafters package and sell surplus repair parts.

That is a historical description, not confirmation that the same kits, tier rules, or recipes remain in the current game. No current official source cited here verifies those mechanics.
What happened when gear reached zero durability
The same 2021 alpha-era note said a zero-durability item would remain equipped and usable, but with reduced performance: half gear score and no perks. Amazon Games wrote: “Now when an item reaches 0 durability, it will have significantly reduced performance (half gear score, no perks), but it will still be usable and no longer automatically un-equips.”

Do not treat that behavior as a current rule without checking the live client. The available current official information does not establish whether durability still decreases or what happens when an item reaches zero durability.
Historical Master Repair Kit recipe listing
A third-party New World Database entry for the Master Repair Kit lists the following requirements. The listing was crawled five months before the research date, and its current accuracy is unverified; it is not an authoritative current recipe.

- Open the relevant crafting station and search its current recipe list for Repair Kits. Confirm the displayed skill, station, and materials before gathering anything.
- Inspect the kit description and the target item’s details. Check whether the kit is available, what item tiers it accepts, and whether the interface explains its repair effect.
- Review the item’s current durability indicator and any warning shown at zero durability. Do not assume the 2021 half-gear-score and no-perks rule still applies.
- If the recipe or item is absent, or the interface gives different instructions, follow the current client rather than an older guide or database entry.
Can you still play New World: Aeternum?
Amazon Games announced that New World: Aeternum was delisted on January 15, 2026. Players who already purchased it can continue playing until the planned permanent server shutdown on January 31, 2027. In-game purchases, including Marks of Fortune, ended July 20, 2026. The announcement says no additional content or server merges are planned, while bug and performance monitoring continues. See Amazon Games’ service update for the official schedule.
