Yes—but with an important catch. NBA 2K27 has dual entitlement for Xbox and Windows PC: an eligible Xbox/Microsoft purchase gives you the other version at no additional game price. However, 2K treats the Xbox and Windows versions as separate instances. MyCAREER and MyTEAM progress do not transfer, and the VC wallets are separate.
What “buy once” means for NBA 2K27
2K’s Windows PC FAQ says that all Xbox and Windows PC versions of NBA 2K27 include dual entitlement. In practice, buying an eligible digital entitlement through the Microsoft ecosystem lets you install the corresponding version on the other platform while signed in with the same Xbox/Microsoft account.
The Windows PC edition sold through the Microsoft Store app or Xbox app is scheduled to become available on October 16, 2026. NBA 2K27’s worldwide release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC through Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for September 4, 2026. These dates apply to the specific storefront and platform, so check the live listing before purchasing.

Xbox and Windows PC are separate game instances
Dual entitlement covers the game license, not a shared save system. 2K states that the Xbox and Windows PC versions are treated as separate instances, so progress made on one does not carry over to the other.

Progress that does not transfer
- MyCAREER progression is separate between Xbox and Windows PC.
- MyTEAM progression is separate between the two versions.
- Other game-state progress should be treated as platform-specific unless 2K later documents an exception.
VC is not shared
The VC wallet is also separate. VC purchased or earned in the Xbox instance is not available in the Windows instance, and vice versa. Plan purchases carefully if you intend to switch between platforms, because buying the game twice is not the issue; maintaining two separate in-game economies is.

How to claim and install the other version
- Buy an eligible entitlement. Use the Xbox or Microsoft Store listing for NBA 2K27 and confirm that the SKU is an Xbox/Windows digital product with dual entitlement.
- Use the same account. Sign in on the Xbox console and the Windows PC Xbox or Microsoft Store app with the Microsoft account that owns the purchase.
- Open the other platform’s listing. On Windows, search for NBA 2K27 in the Microsoft Store app or Xbox app. On Xbox, open the game page from the console store or your owned library.
- Install without paying again. The owned listing should offer installation rather than a second game purchase. If it shows a price, check that you are using the purchasing account and the same regional storefront.
- Start with separate expectations. The second installation is a new instance for progression and VC purposes; do not assume that an existing MyCAREER, MyTEAM or VC balance will appear.
Cross-play is not the same as cross-progression
Windows PC players can cross-play with Steam users. The cited 2K materials also describe console cross-play between Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. They do not establish Xbox-console-to-Windows-PC cross-play.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
That distinction matters: cross-play concerns who can join a multiplayer session, while cross-progression concerns whether your account state follows you between installations. NBA 2K27’s Xbox and Windows instances remain separate even where multiplayer cross-play is available with another PC or console platform.
Editions, preorders and platform-specific bonuses
The official preorder FAQ documents Standard, Deluxe and Ultra editions, with terms that vary by platform. Preorders and similar limited-time offers made on Xbox do not automatically carry over to the Windows PC version.

If you already own the Ultra edition, the FAQ says the Windows entitlement remains Ultra. New Windows purchases listed in that FAQ are limited to Standard or Deluxe. Because edition contents, bonuses and deadlines can change, inspect the exact Microsoft Store or Xbox SKU for your region before completing the transaction. Do not assume that a physical copy or a third-party listing grants Windows entitlement unless its listing explicitly supports the required Microsoft account eligibility.

Common buying mistakes
- Expecting one shared MyCAREER: dual entitlement supplies two installations, not a synchronized save.
- Spending VC on the wrong instance: the wallets are independent, so verify which platform you are using before purchasing.
- Assuming Xbox-to-Windows cross-play: Windows-to-Steam cross-play is documented, but Xbox-console-to-Windows-PC cross-play is not established in the cited materials.
- Ignoring the Windows release date: the Microsoft Store/Xbox-app version is scheduled for October 16, 2026, after the September 4 console launch.
- Buying by edition name alone: preorder rewards and edition availability can differ by platform and time.
Bottom line for Xbox owners considering PC
NBA 2K27 is a buy-once proposition across Xbox and Windows PC when you purchase an eligible Microsoft/Xbox entitlement. The value is avoiding a second game purchase, not carrying one unified NBA 2K27 account state between devices. Choose the platform on which you want to build each MyCAREER or MyTEAM profile, treat VC as platform-specific, and verify the exact edition and preorder terms before checkout.
