To change a player-made Crew’s name in NBA 2K27, open The City → Main Menu → Crews → Crew Management and check the available settings as the Crew President. A custom name unlocks when the Crew reaches level 5. The official guide does not confirm that every Crew Management menu displays a rename control, so the option may not be available in every case.
Change a player-made Crew’s name
- Go to The City and open the Main Menu.
- Select Crews, then choose Crew Management.
- If you are the Crew President, inspect the available settings for a name-editing control and follow the in-game prompts if it appears.
NBA 2K Support’s NBA 2K27 Crews guide, updated October 2, 2026, says a newly created Crew receives a randomly generated name and can create a custom name when it reaches level 5. The guide also says the President can update the Crew’s name, but its Crew Management instructions specifically mention changing vibe and focus rather than naming. That is why it is best to check the menu instead of assuming a rename field will appear.
Who can rename a Crew?
The Crew President manages a player-made Crew. If you are a member rather than its President, ask the President to check Crew Management and make the change. The official guide describes Crews as managed by their owner; it does not establish that ordinary members can edit the name.

Why the name option may be missing
- The Crew is below level 5: The official guide says a custom name becomes available at level 5. It does not clarify whether this threshold also applies to later renames.
- You are not the President: Ask the Crew President to check the settings.
- The menu does not show a rename control: The current guide does not explicitly list name editing among the Crew Management controls. Check the Crew’s level and your role, then consult the current official Crews guidance for any updated instructions.
Public 2K Crews cannot be renamed
A public 2K Crew is different from a player-made Crew: it has no President, and its name and logo cannot be changed, according to the official NBA 2K27 Crews guide.

Where Crew Management fits in NBA 2K27
Crews are part of Crew HQ in The City, as described in 2K’s NBA 2K27 game mode overview. The companion NBA 2K HQ app announcement describes Crew tools such as invites, roster controls, and messaging, but does not identify name editing as an app feature. For renaming, use the in-game Crew Management menu.
